Favorite movie I've watched this year: I'm going to only consider first time watches from this year and not rewatches because this is hard enough as is. I've watched a lot of good shit this year so far. Ginger Snaps (dir. John Fawcett, 2000) and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (dir. Mary Bronstein, 2025) are probably tied for me because I feel like they were made specifically for me.

Last movie I saw in theaters: Uncut Gems (dir. Safdie Brothers, 2019) at the end of 2019 before COVID hit! I adored that movie and watched it in a practically empty theater, so I really like having that as my last theater memory. We have a decent projector set up at home and haven't felt too compelled to go back to the theater since. Something might come out that inspires me to go back but until then my ass is sat at home.

Movie I love that other people don't like: Old (dir. M. Night Shyamalan, 2021) is truly so bad it's good to me. I just have the most delightful time while watching it... especially if everyone else around me is miserable :)

Lesser-known movies people should see: - The New Kids (dir. Sean S. Cunningham, 1985) which isn't an amazing movie but it's the first movie I saw with James Spader in it and fell in love with him. - The Greasy Strangler (dir. Jim Hosking, 2016) because I want everyone to have the theme song stuck in their heads. - When Evil Lurks (dir. Demián Rugna, 2023) is one of the most brutal, shocking movies I have ever seen and I don't think it gets enough love.
