People seemed to like the first list so here are 10 more underrated hollanov fics. All are completed, all have under 10k hits and 100 comments, and all deserve more love! And all but one are under 10k words. I have personally read and can vouch for all of these. If you enjoy, please remember to show some love to the authors! it’s just background noise, anyway by @anincompletelist (2.4k, M) - cliff and carmichael sneak into ilya’s penthouse in 2014 vegas and almost catch shane and ilya in the act. love how this author writes ilya’s pov, he’s such a yearner

Forget about it by @deliciousblizzardshark (2.5k, G) - shane and ilya wake up together in a hospital room and both have temporary amnesia, they are so silly i love them

loose lips sink ships all the damn time by hollsynov (4.2k, T) - texting and socmed fic. ilya’s phone is broken so shane messages him on twitter, but accidentally outs them to a fan account instead. love this oc, this was funnier and more wholesome than i expected

i pay attention to things that most people ignore by @extendedpl4y (4.9k, T) - hayden realizes lily is ilya all on his own. i usually read (and write) fics with hayden as a dumbass so this is a nice change and very sweet!

In Sickness and In Health by gnomey2001 (5.5k, E) - shane gets the stomach flu after fleeing the tuna meltdown and so do all the raiders. shane is stuck in boston when the game is canceled, and ilya takes care of him. i love a post-tuna meltdown fix it and really enjoyed how everything was resolved.

slow motion, love potion by @delsicle (6.8k, E) - sex worker ilya is hired by shane in sochi during the winter olympics so he can experiment with a man. hot, sweet, and sad all at once. lovely writing

Ilya grins. “Same time?” he offers, knowing Shane won’t refuse. “If you think you can handle it,” he adds, teasing.  Experience suggests that he can’t, but that part is fun, too. He palms Shane’s erection through his sweatpants.

Shane gasps softly.  “I can handle it,” he says, and they both think he’s lying, and that doesn’t stop them. Ilya kisses him again, and nips at his bottom lip, and they shift into position. Ilya shoves his own shorts down around his knees, and then Shane’s mouth is on him before he can get Shane's cock out.

“Unsportsmanlike,” Ilya mutters, and Shane just smiles up at him with his eyes.  He gives himself a second just to revel in Shane’s plush lips, in the warm velvet slip of his tongue.  Then he yanks down the sweatpants, and licks a long, flat strip along the slit of Shane’s dick, and it’s game on.

Shane is pouting at Ilya and Ilya thinks he will die right there in his living room on a cold Boston evening.

They played each other earlier, Shane had come back to Ilya’s because they’re boyfriends now. Sitting on the couch in Ilya’s living room, Shane had suggested watching something so incredibly boring and Ilya had groaned out in protest—but then Shane had to go and pout out his bottom lip so pink and wet and adorable.

“Pretty please, Ilya.” He says while pouting with big brown eyes blinking at him innocently to tie the whole look together.

Ilya stares for a moment at the sight of his big jock boyfriend looking so cute he could eat him.

“Fine.” Ilya says softly.

Shane comes out of the closet sometime after Scott does, and in some random, lighthearted interview, they ask him what he's looking for in a man. And Shane's just, off-hand like, "Well, he'd have to have at least one Stanley Cup. Obviously." And when he gets a good reaction from that, he keeps going, like "Needs to be amazing at hockey. Definitely needs to be at least an All-Star, if not a captain. Hot too. If he can't bench-press me, I'm not interested."

“Haas, where are you right now?”

“The club by the hotel.”

“And he’s not in the bathroom?”

“No.”

“Not on the roof?”

“No.”

“Not trying to access any of the dancers poles?”

“What? Why would- Oh, Troy says no.”

“Is he hanging out with drunk girls in the women’s bathroom?”

“Umm, one sec. Harris, can you ask her if Ilya is in there? … Harris says no.”

“Ok. What were you talking about before he disappeared?”

“Did anyone bring up sushi?”

“He got bored, sushi put fish on his brain, which made him think about water, and he likes going to piers, and the hotel is walking distance from a boardwalk by the water. He’s there, most likely trying to look at fish going under the dock.”

“… How do you know that?”

Because what do you mean they went to the batting cages for some silly fun to watch everyone flail at an unfamiliar sport, only for Shane to need three practice swings before figuring out the force and timing needed to start hitting every single pitch? What do you mean he sets the course record at the mini golf place they have the Pike twins birthday at? What do you mean he learned how to play cricket over a long weekend in the UK? What do you MEAN your Canadian ass that grew up on a calm, tiny lake went to visit Rose in LA and just learned to surf from “some guy” one of the days she was busy??

Shane doesn’t get why they all think it’s so crazy. He’s a professional athlete, he’s good at full body and mind control as well as adaptability and hand-eye coordination, and he’s so used to being the best in the world at hockey that he views being mundanely good at anything else as barely noticeable. He argues with Troy over whether he counts as being good at basketball just because he killed them all at the basketball shooting game at a Dave and Buster’s

They all start making bets to see who can find a sport Hollander isn’t good at. Harris is convinced he’ll win with figure skating because Shane’s muscle memory will want to work against him with a technique that’s so similar but also so different, only for Shane to come out of an afternoon learning from his old friend who was at the Olympics with the ability to do simple jumps and spins and is insisting the whole team learn so they can incorporate it into plays. Harris is not allowed to make suggestions after that
