do you remember years ago, on this site, when people would send each other asks just to send asks, when people would send each other compliments and rate each other's themes and would do follow forevers and reblog reblog reblog, and do little ask games and people actually participated in them and people would do regular fanfic recommendation lists, like every week, because they were avid readers of their fandom/ship's fics and there would be less ship wars (not always) but mostly people focused on the things they loved and had fun doing instead of being miserable, when people would do snippet fridays, sharing little looksies into whatever fic they were writing and people would compliment and reblog reblog reblog reblog, and people would comment on fics on the regular if they even so much as enjoyed it just a little bit, and oh, when people would reblog, reblog, reblog, the things they liked

My absolute gospel truth and I'm sorry this is so sappy but--where I'm living, Ilya fully changes his name to Hollander when they get married, like just fully legally changes it. And despite the fact that he continues to use Rozanov professionally ("Just like J. Lo," Ilya says.) everyone who knows them personally obviously knows what Ilya's legal name is and also assume it's a way to kind of stick it to his shitheel father. To this end, and kind of as a joke at first, people start referring to their two-person unit as The Hollanders ("Okay, the Hollanders are in room 508" etc.) but it becomes steadily less and less a joke when neither Shane or Ilya really seems to think of it as one. Ilya especially seems to genuinely love it. He'll say shit like "Oh yes the Hollanders will be there" when asked if they're coming to a barbecue like they live in a postcard. He LOVES to give his name as Ilya Hollander and he LOVES to book reservations under 'Misters Hollander' and he LOVES to say the words 'Shane and Ilya Hollander' out loud with his mouth. I also think that for their last game together in the league Ilya and Shane wear jerseys that say S. Hollander 24 and I. Hollander 81 and it's like. An end of an era type thing. And they frame the jerseys.

the idea of going to the movies alone being like sad and pathetic is crazy to me like thats barely a social event to me. If you try to talk to me during a movie at the movies I will kill you.

Good morning today I’m having emotions about how Shane cradles Ilya’s head after they say I love you—big strong hands wrapped all around his head and neck, giving the gentlest scratches that you know felt so good, making no effort to move just holding firm but soft, pressing Ilya into his chest and lips brushing his forehead—it’s such a perfect comfort to give Ilya and Shane does it so naturally.

Can I contribute Shane and Ilya’s hands intertwined and framing Ilya’s face after the “say it again in Russian please” sequence, where Shane is holding Ilya with his eyes closed in warm bliss while Ilya looks off into the distance, deep in thought? This is literally my thesis for an avoidant Ilya who is no longer avoiding, but the road ahead isn’t perfect. Being in love introduces new issues and exacerbates old ones, but all around him the entire time is Shane, holding him, loving him, wanting to be there for him even when he doesn’t know how. Wanting to know him deeply, never wanting to be spared the darkness. Ilya’s mind (literally his brain, being framed in the shot) will never run perfectly, it will never stop telling him that he’s lazy and less-than, but he will still be loved.
