And hereβs the one Iβm the most excited to share. I finished it yesterday βΊοΈ It illustrates a passage that means a lot to me, because it captures the Caitlyn I fell in love with: fierce without cruelty, gentle without weakness.
Beneath all the discipline and composure lies someone whose love runs incredibly deep. In this moment, the sunlight seems to peel away the armor, revealing a woman who is strong, endlessly devoted, quietly vulnerable, and willing to carry the weight of the world for the people she loves.
Hereβs the snippet from the fic :
Then the smell hit her again. Butter. Sugar. Something warm and unfamiliar.
Vi exhaled and pushed herself upright, rubbing her face as she followed the scent down the hall. She stopped at the kitchen doorway.
And damn.
Caitlyn stood at the counter, her back partly turned, barefoot and moving slowly, not in any hurry. She wore a short white silk night blouse, so thin that the morning light shone right through it, making her look soft and almost unreal.
The sun hit her just right, honey-bright, catching on her shoulders, arms, and the gentle curve of her back. The fabric clung in places that made Viβs belly butterflies take off. She could see the faint outline of skin beneath it when Caitlyn shifted.
She looked different. No longer tense. No longer braced. She wasnβt holding herself together anymore, as if the world would fall apart if she let go.
She was humming quietly as she worked, her hair tied up in a messy bun, a few loose strands brushing the nape of her neck, her movements calm and unguarded.
Vi leaned against the doorframe without meaning to.
God.
It wasnβt just that Caitlyn was beautiful. Vi had always known that. There was something else now, something softer. A weight had finally lifted from her shoulders...leaving her lighter, more at ease, and more herself.
Like she finally felt safe enough to just be.
