🖋️ Last song: Dark Sanctuary by Toby Fox from Chapter 4 of Deltarune! It's kinda spooky and wistful which is a genre I absolutely adore. Deltarune is a video game created by Toby Fox that's a sister game to the more well known Undertale and is being released in chapters - Chapter 5 comes out later this month and I have yet to finish Chapter 4. I started playing it again this week and have been obsessed with this song!! Highly recommend to play in the background while you're doing work or something (I absolutely LOVE listening to video game music while working - listening to it on repeat as we speak!).

🖋️ Current obsession: I'm really getting back into My Hero Academia! It ended back in 2025 and my brother and I finished it during Christmas last year. I've slowly but surely been rewatching it from the beginning and am on season 6 out of 8 (season 4 is my fave!). It's such an amazing show, full of heart and inspiration and incredible voice acting!! Deku my beloved!!! Also Justin Briner (Deku's English VA) is hilarious.

🖋️ Currently reading: Prince of Song and Sea by Linsey Miller - it's a YA fantasy of The Little Mermaid from Eric's POV. Apparently he's been cursed to die if he kisses anyone other than his true love. I'm only a hundred pages in and it's FINE, it feels like how I write fanfic where I incorporate real lines from the source material but make it fit into my new narrative. Nothing wrong with that, but it's interesting! I love The Little Mermaid and Eric so I was really interested in it! I'm also trying to use it to inspire me to write more about my siren OC, Birdie. I'm enjoying it so far and eager to find time to keep reading!

🖋️ Currently working on: I am REALLY trying to finish part 9 of my Astarion x Reader fic, Beauty and the Bard, but I'm struggling to find motivation. Tale as old as time! I have most of it written, just gotta finish the conflict and add some spice. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me!!

I'm also participating in what my roommate is calling "D&D Summer" where we're playing one shots every weekend starting in July and running through August, and I'm going to DM two sessions! I've never DM'd before so I gotta prep that. One is going to be loosely based on The Selection series by Kiera Cass (although in concept only, I'm not taking any of the characters or lore etc etc), and then the other is going to be inspired by the new Masters of the Universe movie (GO SEE IT IF YOU HAVEN'T!!!) because I wanna play a Big Bad that's essentially Skeletor lmao 😂

Conversely, that also means I have to create a bunch of new characters for the other one shots I'm participating in that I'm NOT DMing. Lots to do and create!!

🖋️ Currently wearing: Ducktales 2017 crewneck, North Face jacket (it's cold in my office!), leggings, Elmo socks, and sneakers my younger cousin didn't want but fit me perfectly lol. I got a compliment on my Ducktales crewneck which was nice 🥰 I miss that show!!!

🖋️ Last Search: Lmao apparently it was "Deadpool Cast" - my sister and I were playing Fortnite last night and she was playing as Colossus but neither of us could remember his name. I was playing as He-Man. If you even care (Our theme was Big Beefy Men).

🖋️ Favorite flower: Because of Beauty and the Beast, I usually say roses. Which is true! But recently I've really resonated with Forget-Me-Nots. I have a bad memory, which is something I really struggle with, so Forget-Me-Nots feel significant to me in a weird way. Is it purely because of the name? Maybe! But they're so delicate and pretty, I can't help but love them. They'd make a gorgeous tattoo as well but I'm a wimp and scared of getting tattoos lol.

Last song: Elio - Elio Mei. They're one of my favourite artists and this song was the soundtrack to me experimenting a little more with masculine makeup (read: shitty facial hair drawn on with mascara) and looking at myself in the mirror, trying different things and seeing what feels right

Current obsession: Good Omens. Much as I hated how it ended, I can't help but love the show still.

Currently reading: my copy of Project Hail Mary (nearly finished it, LOVE the movie)

Currently working on: Some OC writing I hope to publish someday

Last search: "cubic zirconia rainbow hoop earrings" (i lost a pair of earrings a little over a week ago and i'm trying to find a similar pair online to replace them)

So as a follow-up to my previous post with the Great Expectations quote:

For those of you who have never read it. Great Expectations is a novel about a young boy who encounters a mysterious woman whose protegee, Estella, has been raised to be unable/unwilling to love. Pip falls in love with her, and his desperate need for her affection slowly leads to him becoming a worse and worse person. His feelings for her are written as something like a curse.

" “Love her, love her, love her! If she favours you, love her. If she wounds you, love her. If she tears your heart to pieces,—and as it gets older and stronger it will tear deeper,—love her, love her, love her!”

 If the often repeated word had been hate instead of love—despair—revenge—dire death—it could not have sounded from her lips more like a curse."

Pip continues to go on with is desire to be with her even though she tells him again and again:

"You must know...that I have no heart...I have a heart to be stabbed or shot - but I have no softness there, no sympathy."

Estella hás been raised by Miss Havisham to be unable to love others. Havisham has made her believe she should never allow herself to care for others, because of the danger.

Pip's obsession with Estella slowly turns him into a terrible person who scorns the people who really care about him.

“Since your change of fortune and prospects, you have changed your companions,” said Estella.

“Naturally,” said I.

“And necessarily,” she added, in a haughty tone; “what was fit company for you once, would be quite unfit company for you now.”

In my conscience, I doubt very much whether I had any lingering intention left of going to see Joe; but if I had, this observation put it to flight."

Pip eventually realizes he'll never get Estella's love and makes the speech to her I quoted in the earlier post

So how this goes forward. He never does get over her, or move on. But he does find closure with his friends and family, and they have a reunion after some of her character development.

"“But you said to me,” returned Estella, very earnestly, “‘God bless you, God forgive you!’ And if you could say that to me then, you will not hesitate to say that to me now,—now, when suffering has been stronger than all other teaching, and has taught me to understand what your heart used to be. I have been bent and broken, but—I hope—into a better shape. Be as considerate and good to me as you were, and tell me we are friends.”

“We are friends,” said I, rising and bending over her, as she rose from the bench.

“And will continue friends apart,” said Estella.

I took her hand in mine, and we went out of the ruined place; and, as the morning mists had risen long ago when I first left the forge, so the evening mists were rising now, and in all the broad expanse of tranquil light they showed to me, I saw no shadow of another parting from her.

That’s why I don’t understand why some fans are so eager to bring the Protector stuff back. Like… y’all actually liked that? 😐

Now, the Storekeeper storyline is different. I wouldn’t mind seeing that return in a later season because I think there’s still a lot they could do with it. But if I had to choose, I’d much rather watch Sofia navigating life at Charmswell with Layla, Camila, Zane, Devin, and the rest of her classmates than spend a bunch of time back on the Mystic Isles.
