i  think  i  talk  too  much,  i  need  to  listen  baby.  i  need  to  listen  good,  i think  i  try  too  hard.  how  i  look,  what  i  do,  what  i’m  sayin’.  i  spend  too  much  time  explainin’  myself.  

    quickly  dusting  off  the  debris  from  his  tattered  clothing,  a  few  dry  coughs  of  his  lungs  trying  to  rid  the  irritants  of  all  that  dust,  boomer’s  head  snaps  up  when  he  hears  the  sound  of  bubbles  voice  that  he  can  recognize  from  anywhere.  pushing  himself  up  out  of  the  ruble,  he  comes  meeting  her  half  way  just  to  be  locked  into  an  embrace  and  a...  a  KISS  from  bubbles.  god,  it  sends  butterflies  all  through  his  being.  arms  wrap  around  her  smaller  body  and  blue  eyes  are  bewildered  by  her  once  their  lips  part,  heart  beating  faster,  even  faster,  now  that’s  she  went  and  done  that.  his  gaze  softens,  looking  so  in  love  with  her.  he  is.  “don’t  worry,  bubbles.  i’m  a  lot  stronger  than  i  look.  and  a  kiss  from  you,  can  cure  anything.”  he  sheepishly  chuckles,  scratched  cheeks  trying  to  turn  stupidly  rosy.  “umm...  well.  you  see.  butch  and  brick,  that’s  just  how  they  horseplay.”  he  quickly  lies,  that  wasn’t  the  case  this  time.  they  were  trying  to  kill  him  to  get  answers  out  of  him.  “let’s  go  somewhere  else.”  taking  her  hand,  he  quickly  takes  them  down  an  alley  in  case  they  were  to  come  looking  for  him.

               “how  can  you  say  that?  ‘course  you  do.”  he’s  surprised  she  thinks  she  deserves  less.  “i  mean...  wait.  y’think  i’m  sweet?”  glancing  away,  his  cheeks  threaten  to  blush  and  he  does  not  want  bubbles  to  know  he  blushes.  “well,  i  dunno.  some  evil  people  are  good  at  bein’  manipulative.  what  if  i  were  just  pretending?”  not  that  he  is,  but  he’s  curious  if  bubbles  is  naive.  “well,  i  would.  if  i  could,  i  would  give  anything  to  give  my  powers  up.  that  way  i  could  BE  with  you  without  worrying...”  if  someone  was  going  to  kill  him  for  it.  “my  daydreams.  okay...”  walking  over  to  the  park,  through  the  playground,  he  comes  to  a  stop  at  the  swings.  gestures  for  her  to  take  one  while  he  takes  the  other  free  one  next  to  hers.  “i  daydream  about  us  going  to  school  and  being  normal.  i  daydream  about  the  only   thing  we  have  to  worry  about  is  homework  or  that  thing  school’s  do...  um  prom.  or  something.  i  even  daydream  about  us  going  to  prom  together  an’  how  fun  it’d  be.  and  about  just  going  to  the  mall  without  worrying  about  monsters  or  how  it’s  wrong  ‘cause  we’re  supposed  to  be  fighting  each  other.  i  daydream  about  all  kinds  of  stuff.”

           “well,  the  professor  is  right.  you’re  too  good  for  boys.  boys  like  me,  we  don’t  deserve  precious  angels  like  you.”  fingers  brush  through  her  golden  strands,  even  her  hair  is  so  angelic.  “how  do  you  know?”  she’s  supposed  to  be  facing  someone  who  is  supposed  to  want  to  destroy  her,  he  wasn’t  made  out  of  good,  he  was  made  of  evil...so  how  does  she  trust  him  so  much?  “it’s  not  your  fault.  the  world  should  say  it’s  sorry.  i  wish  we  were  normal  too,  b.   i  daydream  ‘bout  it  all  the  time.  i’d  give  my  powers  up  to  be  a  normal  kid  with  you.”    he  admits,  their  hands  being  swung  in  between  them  and  he  sweetly  smiles  down  at  the  bestest  friend  he’s  ever  had.  letting  one  of  her  hands  go,  so  he  can  pull  her  along  to  the  direction  he  suddenly  wants  to  go  in.  walking  down  the  street  and  over  to  the  park,  he  wants  to  do  something  to  pretend  they’re  normal.  even  if  for  just  a  day.  

                “c’mon,  b.  it  will  be  fun  ‘cause  we  might  find  somethin’  WEIRD.  y’know...like  bones!  don’t  you  wanna  be  like  scooby  doo?  scooby  doo’s  awesome.”  he  could  definitely  be  a  scaredy  cat  of  his  own,  curiosity  was  just  overriding  that  for  the  moment...  UNTIL  he  falls  in  over  the  broken  windowsill  and  an  old  piece  of  furniture  falls  on  top  of  him.  arms  flail  in  fear  to  swat  it,  falling  into  the  floor  which  creeps  him  out  right  away.  it’s  dusty  and  it  STINKS   and...  “something’s  GOT  me!”  nothing’s  got  him,  besides  the  heavy  lamp  and  some  thick  cobwebs  getting  entangled  around  his  face  that  he’s  crazily  thrashing  his  arms  around  to  remove  off  him.

             “OH.  hi,  princess.  i  didn’t  realize  anyone  wanted  to  talk  t’you   anyway.”

                   “yeah,  you  definitely  are  TOO  young.”  that  makes  b  laugh  and  joke  with  her  before  her  next  question  dawns  on  him  and  expressions  soften.  “if  i  had  a  real  mom  and  dad,  they’d  be  proud  i  didn’t  make  a  dumb  decision  of  picking  out  a  girl  to  like.  they  would  be  so  happy  to  have  a  girl  like  you  around,  bubbles.”  is  that  even  a  real  question?  “but  since  we  came  into  existence  another  way  an’  i  came  into  existence  by  evil,  ‘course  evil  things  won’t  approve  of  good  things.”  in  other  words...  no,  brick  nor  butch  and  especially  not  his  ‘parental  guardians’  mojo  or  him  would  approve  of  a  good-willed  puff.  they’d  hate  it  because  they  know  how  easy  it  is  to  brainwash  boomer,  they’d  definitely  think  she’s  brainwashed  him  to  be  good.    “i  might  leave  you  small,  few  inches.”  he  keeps  teasing  until  her  lips  touch  his  cheek  and  then  a  stupid  blush  creeps  up  on  his  cheeks,  he’s  always  besotted  by  her  every  single  time  she  does  that.

                “well,  you  can’t.”  because  one  day  something  really  might  happen  to  him  and  he  doesn’t  want  to  die  knowing  bubbles  would  forever  feel  guilty  for  it.  it’s  not  her  fault.  it’s  the  things  he  doesn’t  say  though,  so  he  doesn’t  worry  her  more  than  she  already  is.  if  he  had  to  die,  he  wants  to  spend  every  second  he  can  get  living  his  messed  up  life  with  the  only  person  who  has  given  him  life  and  the  only  person  who  has  been  so  good  at  prying  him  out  his  head  from  thinking  he  has  to  be  a  villain  because  he  was  born  to  be  so.   glancing  down,  a  smile  immediately  blooms  across  his  lips  at  her  thumbs  brushing  against  his  hands.  “what  would  he  say?  do  y’think?  about  hangin’  around  me?”  boomer  knows  the  obvious,  he  wouldn’t  be  accepting.  but  how  unaccepting?  would  there  be  any  chance  he’d  be  open  minded?  “i  pinky  promise.  y’know  i  wouldn’t  break  a  PINKY  promise.”  one  hand  stays  in  her  palm  and  his  free  one  lifts  to  link  their  pinkies  together,  his  wrapping  around  hers.  “yeah,  exactly.  i  can  always  come  and  HOG  your  bed.”  he  chuckles,  trying  to  lighten  the  mood,  poking  her  cheek.

                dark  brows  in  contrast  of  golden  locks  draping  around  his  forehead  in  floppy  bangs  knit  in  confusion.  initially,  he  held  an  anger  towards  blossom  for  not  accepting  him  hanging  around  bubbles.  until  she  caught  him  helping  an  elderly  woman  across  the  street  after  being  pestered  by  some  teenagers  and  she  didn’t  seem  to  judge  him  for  it.  at  least,  not  in  a  bad  way.  he  didn’t  know  blossom  would  be  watching  him.  in  fact,  he  was  hoping  no  one  caught  him  in  fear  of  word  getting  around  to  his  brothers  that  he  was  helping  someone.  he  could  act  like  he  doesn’t  know  what  the  strawberry  haired  girl  is  talking  about,  but  boomer  can’t  stop  the  softness  that  graces  his  boyish  countenance.   “you  really  think  so,  blossom?”  if  it  means  she’ll  let  him  hang  around  them  in  secret  without  thinking  he’s  terrible  like  butch  and  brick,  then  it  has  blue  eyes  lighting  up  in  hopeful  excitement.
