you can 100% install apps like scrollguard or screenzen and let them block your access to reels/stories. you can experiment with the anti-scroll timers to set reasonable limits around app usage: maybe you focus it on the time before bed and right after waking up, or during work or whatever works! It's not about perfection it's about stopping those apps from doing what they are streamlined to do: keep you scrolling indefinitely.

and you can definitely disable your YouTube history. the landing screen is so much quieter this way and it forces you to be mindful of why you're on YouTube anyway, cause you gotta think of stuff you wanna watch and then search for it. Added bonus: yt doesn't get data on your preferences.

The social media landscape has unfortunately poured all its resources into a) keeping you right where it wants and b) feeding you exactly what it wants so then it can c) sell you stuff. Or get your data. It's profit all around except for you.
