Blue Design Wall

When I got out for my walk this morning I discovered that it was a beautiful day outside. I had left the office wrapped up in a scarf and puffer jacket expecting the usual wintery chill to hit me when I walked out the door. It was a pleasant surprise to discover the sunshine and warmth. The scarf and jacket had to come off pretty quickly. After work we did some shopping but I still had time to get out for a run in the warm evening air. Made it home before the sun went down and it did so quite beautifully tonight. Glad I got out there, the forecast for tomorrow looks like the cold will be back in full force.

Getting out the door was pretty hard this morning. Once out there I had to convince the wee repetitive voice in my head that I wasn't mad for running around in the freezing cold. I cranked up the music and dove into the forest. It was cold in there so I sought sunshine but ended up running on a race course. To get out of the way of the race I took some trails I had not taken before. I may have got a little lost when I could not find Xray road on the map but I kinda knew where I was so headed for the beach and ran home that way. 15 very slow kilometres done. I reckon there are places in the forest which have not thawed out from yesterdays frosts, Brrrrh, I'm over winter.

My Garmin said it was 8ºC out there. It definitely was not. I just wanted to belt out a fast 5km run around the streets but it was so cold my lungs hurt. Running into the wind was painful but the only way to make it stop was to keep going. I got there in the end and did not hesitate to grab the foam roller and roll it out in front of the fire. Holy heck I am over winter.

I really have been struggling to work out how to quilt the borders on this quilt. I really need to get it done so I can move on to the Big Blue Star Hexie quilt. It is going to take me a year or so to quilt that so I want to get started. With no inspiration coming my way I decided to echo quilt and see how that looks. At least it will be progress. I would love to add some feathers or vines but I don't think I have reached that skill level yet sadly. I quilted around the hexies last night and got heaps more done than I thought I would. The quilting is much easier as I am only stitching through 3 layers. It mades such a difference, my stitches are much smaller.

I had to go see the doctor this morning so I worked from home. Work is quiet and I am all caught up so it worked well. We stopped at the bakery for some lunch on the way home. It was raining on and off the whole time. After the work was done we headed out to get some fresh air and check out the waves. On the way back we spotted a large yellow thing in the sky. It just may have been the sun but it has been so long since it has shown itself we were not sure. Just as we turned into the driveway big spots of rain began to fall. Good timing Retired Guy.

I got out for a morning tea walk between showers today. It was cold and windy out there. It was pouring down at lunchtime so I stayed inside and worked through. I had to head home mid afternoon for a late meeting. I wanted to run so once the meeting was done I ran out the door. Trouble was the rain and wind had intensified while I was in the meeting. I was drenched before I left home but I had lots of warm layers on and was quite warm by the time I got home. The frogs were quite noisy in the pond. Don't think they were expecting anyone to be out running about in that weather. There was no one on the beach not a sole. I just wanted to go see the wild waves, wasn't keen enough to run into the southerly down the beach to get home. I took the more sheltered route through the forest to get there. I arrived home soggy but happy. Best part of my day.

I sat still all day long so as soon as I got home I headed into the tiny gym and did some serious moving. It is freezing, we are surrounded by snow and it has been raining, sometimes sideways. I still managed to work up a sweat and get my 10k steps it just took a bit more work.

I ran to the sign then turned around and ran back again. Then I added on another kilometre so I didn't finish on 13. I got off to a late start today because I slept in after our night at the rugby. I was not sure if I could do 14km, I have been having a few health issues so I am just trying to maintain at the moment.

All Blacks v France. Bit of a messy game but still a great event to be a part of. Loving our new stadium. We had a real birds eye view. Loved the laser show at half time.

We used my commute time to go for a walk to the beach today. It was freezing out there. What a great way to kick off the weekend.

I was as grumpy as that green rock at work this afternoon. A run in the freezing cold wind was the best course of action. As soon as I got home I headed out the door. It was freezing, as I ran across the park I was wishing I had put another layer on. The run worked I feel much calmer now, hope it lasts.

It was chilly out there today. I could see the mountains had a good dump of snow on them. Just in the nick of time too, the school holidays start next week and there was no snow until now. I ran 14km today in the cold sunshine. I knew all the trails I ran on but have never run them in that order before. Nothing like a bit of variety to keep things interesting.

After I had logged off and tidied up my desk we headed out for a walk. It was definitely woolly hat and gloves weather out there. It was good to get out and move.

I need to get a better idea of the spaces I need to fill with quilting. I am going to transfer the spaces to paper and practice filling them with pencil drawings. I am hoping it will make it easier to decide what to put in them. I am thinking straight lines or maybe feathers. If I can't make that work I will have to echo quilt. Just makin it up as I go along!

I love the wee calendar stickers Daughter got for me in Japan. I used the packaging for hexies. Can't wait to find the wee kitty again as I stitch. Cute!

I got out and had some fun today. It was cold out there but I didn't let it put me off. I walked on the sunny side of the street for my morning tea walk around the streets. I watched the mist rising out of the ground as I ran. Even did a 200m across the park because running as fast as you can is feels great and its fun.
