Shouei, we met fifteen years ago today, on our very first day of Elementary School. You told me once how I grabbed your attention that day because I sorted all of my things carefully, just the way you do, and that it made you feel seen. Understood in a way no one else had understood you before me. I vow to make you feel seen every day, just the way I did back then, and you’ve told me I have in all of the years we’ve spent together so far. I vow to always pay attention to you, and to the details, and to try and understand you without words.
Aiku, we met three and a half years, eye to eye on the pitch deciding our soccer careers. You were great. You absolutely stole my breath, even though you didn’t make me run after you; you just there, in front of me, making sure I couldn’t get myself or the ball past you. We danced around each other for what felt like an eternity until Shouei stole the ball from me, and I was stuck there, less than a step away from you. If you think about it, it reflects how we came about: We danced around each other for a while, always eye to eye, never quite bold enough to say the words until Shouei couldn’t take it anymore, urged me to confess, and pushed me right into your arms.
Thank you, love, for that. I’m not sure we would all be here today without you.
Well. Aiku, we have always danced like it was the very last day before the heat death of the universe, like the only thing that still mattered was us. Your face flushed a brilliant red as his loud statement while his friends laughed in the background; none of them were *quite* as drunk as F/o was. One of them called out to you, "He's been going on about ya since he had his first one."
Your face grew even warmer. "I see," you then addressed F/o, and the fact that he was still crying. "And what seems to be the problem, uh, buddy?"
He sniffed dramatically. "She- she's just.. too perfect!"
And with that, he broke down into sobs. You couldn't help but laugh a little at his antics now that you knew there wasn't something actually wrong.
"Need one of us to help you get him to the car?" One of his friends asked, attempting to stand, but swaying on his feet and ultimately electing to remain seated.
"Uhm, no thanks, I've got him," you replied politely, thinking to yourself that there was absolutely no way any of these men could lift themselves right now, let alone help you carry f/o.
Turning back to f/o, whose tears had mostly subsided, you began, "Okay Honey- can you stand?"
However, the domestic pet name had apparently caused him to realize your identity, as he stood and abruptly wrapped you in a crushing hug, with an excited cry of "Y/N! Darling! When did you get here?"
You smiled as he leaned on you heavily. "Just a minute ago, baby. Come on; we gotta go home now, okay?"
He hummed, probably not fully understanding anything you said, but visibly ecstatic you were there.
"Okay," you said as you used the arm you had wrapped around his waist to both steer him out the door and keep him stable, "this way, love."
On the drive home, he ranted about how much he missed you and how amazing you were. Every now and again, he would still forget he was talking to you and throw in a "have you met my girlfriend? She's so great-"
When you finally got him home and tucked him into bed beside you, he whispered with starry eyes, "you're such an angel" in the most sincere little voice and you m e l t e d ajsjsksk

He didn't seem to hear you, instead humming a off-key version of a song that had played on the radio on the way home from the bar until he fell asleep, clinging onto you like a baby koala.
