I see a lot of blogs on selfshipblr that are simply inaccessible. No shame though. If you aren't aware of it, how would you know to make things accessible? So here are some tips for you all!

TAG FLASHING/FLICKERING/HIGHLY COLORFUL GIFS. Gifs that flicker, flash or are incredibly high contrast can trigger dangerous seizures or painful migraines in many people. There are many configurations to tag them as. Here are some examples: #Tw Gif #Gif Warning #Eye Strain #Cw Flashing

Seizures can do real damage and even kill. This simple gesture makes your blog a safe space for many people who are routinely unable to scroll and enjoy Tumblr without fear.

Try not to have these kinds of gifs on important posts such as your intro, bio, and header, unless they're able to be hidden.

Add image descriptions in the alt text. This allows users with low vision or blind to know what's in a post! There are many tutorials online on how to make good image descriptions but as many say, any description is better than no description!

And I get it, sometimes spoons are low. You can tag undescribed images as #Undescribed or #Undescribed Image to let users know they won't find alt text on it. Try to come back to them later if you can!

Make your theme (here on Tumblr but also strawpage, carrd, etc) accessible by using legible fonts and colors. People with dyslexia have a hard time reading fancy fonts and people who use screen readers may have issues with their program being completely unable to read fancy fonts. Avoid using the cursive Lucille font on here whenever possible and definitely avoid using outsourced fonts.

Another thing is colors! High contrast is always best. Dark text on a light background or light text on a dark background. Here's an accesibility checked for colors. (X)

Going off of the last point, make your posts accessible as well! Using outsourced fonts or changing the fonts often through a post and making a lot of the words colorful is not accessible to many users. Using a lot of emojis or kaomojis and key smashes are not accessible. A few here and there are not an issue but a significant amount can trip up people's screenreaders and be tedious to listen to. Imagine having to listen to 50 "Angry face emoji. Angry face emoji. Angry face emoji." With no way to skip!

Caption videos and audio! If you post an animation you make or a song you wrote, caption it. It doesn't have to be lengthy or intense. Simply describe what's visually in the video and what is being said or heard. This way, the visually impaired and d/Deaf/HOH folks can enjoy what you've made as well!

Those are just some ways to make your Tumblr more accessible. Disabled people are everywhere and in every community and deserve to be accomodated so they can experience all the fun to the same extent as everyone else.

staring contest with f/o. not to see which one of you blinks first, but which one of you breaks. you’re getting lost in each other’s eyes, trying desperately not to lean in for a kiss. you two don’t last long. :)

Imagine your f/o sitting on their knees in front of you, so they can hug your thighs/butt and bury their face in your tummy. They look up at you every now and then with the biggest grin and so much love glittering in their eyes.

Shoutout to fat selfshippers that don't fit the "slightly chubby and curvy in the thighs and boobs" type.

Your F/O(s) still love your body, not in spite of, but including

Your cellulite and/or stretch marks

Your uneven fat distribution

Your double chins

Your lipedema

They'll love your body no matter why you have it, even if it was caused by genetics, or if your lifestyle caused it, or both.

If you're trying to lose weight, your F/O(s) will make sure you go at a slow pace and be on the lookout for dangerous scams. Most importantly, they'll never imply you were ever "ugly" at any stage in your life.

If you became fat on purpose and/or you're still wanting to gain weight, they're happy for you! They're proud of how much you've gained and will help you gain more if you need to. They'll never let anyone try to say you were "better" back then.

Even if you have health problems, your F/O(s) will never shame you or imply it's your fault at all. They want to help you and uplift you, never put you down.
