Does anyone remember these American girl doll books that weren’t the stories of the historical girls but were like companion history books? Like they were bigger hardbacks, almost picture book sized, and were just historical facts and diagrams? I remember Kaya’s had a big diagram of a longhouse and Felicity’s had a page about tarring and feathering. I don’t remember what they were called and I never see anyone mention them so idk how to search for them.

Many men are really showing rn that no woman in their life feels comfortable to talk candidly about their sexual assault to them. I know numerous men in my area as creeps, abusers and rapists from hearing my friend’s stories and stories of friends of friends. I imagine there are many women with 2-3 degrees separation of Platner who’ve heard that’s he’s at least a creep.

Women warn each other because it’s safer and less traumatizing than going to authorities. Men also generally don’t need those convos. I’ve had women I’ve known for less than a day warn me about certain men and places and I’ve done the same for others.

Man in my state has been known for years to be a rapist who takes advantage of his employees, he got arrested, charged with a laundry list of shit and almost everything got dismissed. Now he’s threatening legal action against anyone who brings it up. I’d argue it’s now harder to warn other women about him, cause there’s always someone, man or woman, willing to bend over backwards to defend a rapist especially if there was never a trial.

sometimes i think about how one of the best ice creams I've ever had was when I was working at a grocery store and we stocked this small independent brand but it was like $10 a pint so it didn't sell well and anytime it went on sale I'd use my employee discount to stock up.
