I’m writing—

“I don’t want to sound—I don’t know, ungrateful? Everyone has been so welcoming, so kind and helpful, and amazing really. But it’s overwhelming.” He signs and shrugs his shoulders, a bit defeated. They’re far from the house and there’s no way anyone will hear them. Still, Steve lowers his voice to a whisper. “Does it ever feel weird for you—everyone here—how connected they are?”

Tony’s eyes go a little wide and Steve starts to backtrack in his mind, thinking he’s hit a nerve.

“They’re all lovely,” he blurts out hastily; the “but” is left out and it lingers in his awkward silence. Tony holds a hand up and Steve wants to kick himself. They finally got to a good place and now he’s ruined it.

“Stop,” Tony says firmly, then looks around, paranoid. “Steve—it’s a fucking cult.”

Steve looks at him, unsure if he’s heard correctly.

The crickets chirp, the leaves rustle in the wind; somewhere in the distance, an animal of some sort howls.

The moment passes and Steve urgently whispers, “Tony—it’s a fucking cult!”

I wish I knew what to say and what to do right now. This is a very strange time in the world and unfortunately, I only have the energy to focus on one thing. In two days, I’ll be going into the hospital to give birth to my baby. I was prepared to bring a child into the world during a global pandemic; I am sad and disheartened to do so at a time when so many people are suffering and fighting, and yet I realize that these protests are nothing new. The pandemic is an event like nothing we could have imagined but we have seen violence like this so many times. I am disappointed but not surprised. I was always planning on taking some time off of being active on tumblr to spend with my little one, but my hiatus post would have looked a little different in other circumstances. Now it is accompanied by a message much different than a simple see you soon. If you are going to a protest, stay safe. If you are posting information, stay up to date. If you are taking time off to focus on something else, stay healthy and sane. Everyone please take care of yourselves and take care of each other. Continue to support the black community in whatever way you can. Speak up, donate, spread information and awareness and love. Be well and I will see you soon.

BLACK VISIONS MN: an organization that is led by Black, Queer and Trans people. Donate if you can.

NAACP Legal Defense Fund: Fights for the overall equality fight. Donate if you can.

PETITIONS

Willie Simmons has spent 38 years in prison for a $9 robbery. He had two prior convictions similar to robbery that he served time for. He was prosecuted under the Alabama Habitual Offender law and was given a life sentence for his third strike - stealing 9 (NINE) dollars. Sign his petition.

Breonna Taylor was killed by police who were conducting an UNANNOUNCED drug raid, where they gave no request to enter. They bashed her door and entered, shooting her EIGHT times. They were in the WRONG HOUSE.

George Floyd was killed by a police officer who knelt on his neck and suffocated him to death, after George pleaded with the officer and told him he couldn’t breathe. The officer had pulled him from where he sat in his car on an alleged FORGERY. You can also text “FLOYD” to 55156

ARREST THE OFFICERS WHO KILLED GEORGE FLOYD: The main police officer who murdered George is being kept in PROTECTIVE CUSTODY. You probably have heard he was arrested, but this is NOT TRUE. He was placed under PROTECTIVE custody because of the riots and “threats” on his life.

If you know of ANY other organizations or petitions, PLEASE ADD TO THIS LIST. The fight for justice doesn’t end here, it will never end. Especially when the president of the United States calls white supremacists good people and protesters of a mans death THUGS. USE YOUR VOICE. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. FUCK COPS. FUCK “BLUE LIVES”. the minnesota freedom fund is asking folks to donate to other organizations instead. the specific ones they listed are black visions, linked above, and these two:

northstar health collective, organized healthcare professionals working with anti-authoritarian groups

reclaim the block, a collective that aims to redistribute funding away from police and towards more community-oriented projects in minneapolis

these are the links i send to my facebook friends who keep running their mouths about “the protests hurting the community”

minnehaha food shelf & calvary church food shelf are both centered in the south minneapolis area where the riots started. the grocery stores in the area have been decimated, so food shelves and food insecurity charities need a lot of love right now.

northside funders group is a philanthropic group in the twin cities that’s using all its funds right now for helping local businesses

migizi is a native american media/history nonprofit whose office was destroyed in the riots

we love lake street is devoting funds specifically towards rebuilding the lake street area in south minneapolis

the healing justice foundation is a national nonprofit that’s specifically focusing on mental health resources for bipoc right now

ctul is a nonprofit focused on low-wage workers and workers rights in minnesota

mpd 150 is focused on policing and specifically trying to reroute the conversation from “we need to change police procedures” to “the police need structural reform”

the spiral collective is providing funds for supplies, medic kits, and other things that protesters will need on the ground

unicorn riot is a media collective that has had people on the ground filming every night in minneapolis

Listen. There's something so raw and visceral about the way you write. There's just something in the way you wrote brothers like these were real people you knew, like it was your own experience. brothers is criminally underrated. i rec it to everyone who asks for a rec. its better than NEC imo and it genuinely makes me want to cry everytime i read it. it makes me wish that marvel cared about the commandos more, because the story you crafted with the small amount of information crafted is one of the best things ive ever read in my entire life.

to even be compared to nec is a huge compliment to me, so thank you. i also wish that marvel had spent more time on the commandos because their story is so unique and underdeveloped in the mcu, but that’s what brothers was meant for: i desperately wanted more of a story so i felt the need to write it. i’m so glad you enjoyed it and i hope you continue to do so!

Please don't stop making edits. Yours are the best there are. I heard there's a problem with tumblr tags recently so maybe that's why? Did you try contacting support? And there is the issue of people reblogging less edits and more scene gifs. I know this is silly for me to say but your edits are the best thing that happened to this fandom and it saddens me to see you discouraged. Love you.

i know that recently tumblr has been having tagging issues and issues in general but i think the issue with people not reblogging original content has been going on for at least a couple of years. i hope this doesn’t sound braggy but some of my posts used to have 1000+ notes within a day of posting them and currently, a post i made on april 26th only has 55 notes. i am still making edits and i am still enjoying doing so for now but i don’t see myself doing so for much longer in the same capacity i used to, especially with new personal responsibilities and life changes coming up. thank you for your kind words though, i really appreciate it!
