As a Jew, there's something that really gets me about Izzy being the last of the original Howling Commandos to actually be still alive unaltered (since Dum Dum's consciousness is uploaded to an LMD and Nick Fury is chained to the moon as the Watcher). Izzy Cohen, the humble mechanic from Brooklyn, who actually settled down and started a family and got out even when he kept being dragged back in, who never became rich and/or famous like Pinky, Dino, or Rebel and never rose high into the ranks of SHIELD like Fury, Gabe, or Dum Dum (or Eric, but he's not an original Howler), is the one to outlive everyone. He witnessed some of the worst atrocities in human history done to his own people, he suffered terrible torture and captivity during the war, moreso than many of the other Howlers, he slowly watched all his buddies from the war die one by one as time passed......and he survived. He survived and he lived and he's still alive (well, at this point, realistically, more likely he died of old age since his last appearance, but Marvel doesn't care enough to tell us that). Izzy got to grow old when so many people of his generation didn't. There's something really bittersweet about it all, and especially because he's a Jew.
