Fourth doggo in the series!

This time the character is Al’s lovely vampire Fire Emblem OC, Veles.

For Veles, going off his lore and general appearance, I knew I wanted to make him some type of wolf-dog, or a very primitive-looking dog. Not so much in markings and pelt colors as anatomy and body structure. But I also wanted to keep in mind Veles’ generally slim and muscular build, so a dog that was overly bulky and stocky just wouldn’t have cut it. So rather than base him off several breeds of dogs, I based him almost exclusively off of the Czechoslovakian wolfdog, which, despite its name, isn’t actually a wolf hybrid. But I do believe they have had real European wolves in their bloodline at one point during their development. Or I might be mixing them up with the Saarlos wolfdog. I really can’t be bothered to check-

For the pelt, I chose to go with a wolf sable coloration and diluted tan points on his legs, and a pretty black mask on his muzzle. At first I thought about just giving him a silver foxish kind of look, but I thought that would be too boring? And since I kind of wanted him to look wolf-ish in color too, I thought why not. Although his particular colors and markings aren’t all that wolfish. I also gave him a horribly disguised bat-looking marking on his chest, and I don’t regret a thing because he is a vampire so it was mandatory.

Overall, I really like how this one came out. From the angle I drew him in, he kind of looks more like a Belgian malinois or a very lightly built gsd, but e h. I like his colors, I think he’s a handsome boy. Oh, and he’s wearing a basic martingale collar, with a golden chain and Veles’ amulet attached to it.

Third one let S G O

This one’s for Gangrel--the best-written one I’ve some across so far tbh. 

For Gangrel, I thought a scuffy-looking mutt with deep red, wirey fur would suit him. But since he’s still Plegian, I wanted to give him a sight hound or sight hound-ish look, so I based most of his anatomy and reference a picture of a Portuguese Podengo. Not Epyptian, but they had that mixed breed, scruffy-look I was going for. Still, I made his limbs a little longer and leaner so he’d look more like a sight hound cross. He kind of came out more like a full blooded, large Podengo but eh.

I chose red for his coat color because Gangrel himself is a ginger, although I made him red only in color--he’s not red in the sense of a liver-colored dog, hence the black nose and lips.I felt like making him a liver red (red nosed) would make him look too pure bred, if that makes sense. And the white with ticking was added because a) I thought it fit the street-dog look and b) flat red was too boring. He’s also probably meant to have a longer tail but I’d imagine some of it was lost due to fighting and such. Gangrel doens’t actually have rips in his ears, either, but I felt like it added to his scruffy look so I added them anyway. I also gave him a traditional-ish sight hound collar with black fluff and those sharp golden things. I really winged the collar but I really like how it turned out.

Second edition to the dog meme! This time for Naeva, Robin’s (the avatar’s) mother, written by my best beST dear friend Jessica.

Since Naeva is Plegian and Plegia is based heavily Egypt, I thought a sight hound or sight hound-like dog would fit her the best, not only because of the build she’s said to have but I also thought it fit so perfectly with her lore. 

The breed of sight hound I modeled her after is the Saluki, although something like the Gray Hound would’ve been more realistic, but I felt like the saluki fit her more aesthetically. And it’s not too off because they were originally bred in the Fertile Crescent region, which Ancient Egypt was a part of.

She has a simplistic but very sleek and pretty design--a white coat with pink paws, nose, lips, and eye-lining. I also gave her a traditional collar used on sight hounds, and themed that around the color and design of her robes.

Anyway, I hope it’s alright!

First edition to the dog drawing meme! This one is for a Lon’qu written by the amazing Sayl. I reALLY like how he came out--I absolutely adore red sable dogs, and I felt like the coloration and markings were fitting. Originally I thought of doing just a brindle b u t

this is more interesting, I think.

I also based his anatomy heavily off of the Kai Ken and Shikoku Inu, although he is closer to the size of a larger dog, such as the Akita or a large Labrador. He’s got a very thick but not long coat with large paws suited to walk across deep snow, and small, well fluffed ears to prevent frost bite. I used several different references of asian and spitz dogs in general, and as you can see, the fluff is at critical capacity. He’s also got scars littered across him because Sayl hcs that for their Lon’qu, although I placed some of them in areas more realistic for a dog to have them.

more art! This time fan art for one of my biggest inspirations--especially when I first started drawing digitally--, over on dA. You can find her page here.

I tried I different style this time--back lighting to add more detail after the first layer of cell shading instead of a second layer of shading. I kind of like it, but also, eh? It looks nice and pretty but I like the added detail of more shading layers. I might experiment with this more in the future though--its fun to do!
