it was really challenging to live on rafta for those first few months bc she didnt have the money to buy her patches + pills (really fucking expensive shipping + didnt have a lot of funds; physiological needs like food and sleep were a lot more imminent). at least the owl knows that she is oswald's Niece so thats one less awkward conversation to have even if its a little weird that her uncle's pet knows her like that!

it was easy to establish herself within social spheres in rafta but a lot of her customers would sow doubt in herself anyways. the ones about being a fraud or a fake hurt the most, and she would spend a few hours after work trying to pull herself out of those thought spirals, sometimes to little success.

it worsens when small body changes starts happening

but her friends are lifesavers; xid gets her prescription expedited (3 whole months! and thereafter until sylvia gets on her feet) and voice trains her when her voice starts cracking again; roxanne treats her out to a spa day, shopping for clothes and getting nails done (and a genuine apology about her comments while they were still enemies); saffron is her sounding board for emotions, especially with the rough nights and rougher thoughts BUT ALSO METHINKS some weird fae gender thing is happening with saffron that sylvia is really into; mint does sleepovers with sylvia, and its just how teenage girls have sleepovers in movies lol lots of hair care and fanfic writing imo sprinkled with some spicy gossip for once; luna is literally the trans flag idk how to tell u this. they dominate the competitive ranking scene in the latest fps/moba/battle royale game and win championships as a duo lmfao

every now and then roxanne gifts her a small goodie bag of skincare products; mint braids her hair for fun (and for her own enrichment); xid gets sylvia to sing with her during her street busking; luna and sylvia always end their gaming interviews with the statement "trans women, we love you!"; this is funny but i think saffron is the cougar that sylvia looks up to as a role model for being a woman and saffrons like "sylvia, you are a woman. now lets get you some wine and steak and ice cream girl"

quinn's perception of gender identity is incredibly different from sylvia (well how i headcanon it for these two anyways) but they recognize its something extremely important to her. theyre a little awkward at giving her the reassurance ("youre definitely a girl, sylvia.") but theyre 100% ride and die for her (makes boxer attack anyone who looks at her wrong, "her name is sylvia, asshole")

all of this to also say imagine this with me... normal day of quinn sylvia in the bathroom together brushing their teeth. quinn on the toilet (just sitting on the lid), half lidded eyes trained on sylvia (still sleepy), legs up to their chest, brushing their teeth slowly while sylvia is in front of the sink, reapplying her patch on her shoulder, toothbrush in her mouth. quinn thinks about how shes sooo pretty and about how much of a lovestruck fool theyre being as they move to hug her from behind on instinct
