Why are so many people on this hellsite against short-term goals and short-term relief suddenly?
Yes, soup kitchens don’t solve the long-term problem of homelessness, but they do solve the short term problem of ‘needing food immediately’.
Yes, the cis will decide your gender is whatever is most convenient for them to hurt you with, that doesn’t mean allowing nb people an ‘x’ on their id is ‘totally pointless and unnecessary’ (Protip: The cis are still going to do that when gender markers get removed)
Saying we should get rid of things or not bother with them because they don’t serve the long-term goal in a meaningful way is saying people should just suffer until the long term goal is reached, instead of having some relief.
Short term relief, is STILL RELIEF. And it’s still keeping people alive in the meantime while we work on those long-term goals.

I feel like the thing with the x is that alot of people (including me) feel like that’s just putting a huge target on our backs. There would be no relief in every person who ever sells alcohol to me knowing that I’m nonbinary. There’s no relief in basically coming out as nonbinary every time I fly in a plane, or if I got pulled over for a speeding ticket. I don’t want that target on my back
So then don’t change your gender marker? It’s not like you’re required. But some of us really want this because we are tired of being misgendered at every corner and on every document, and telling us to deal with that until we eliminate gender on forms all together isn’t fair. Telling us that wanting to be out and open and not mislabeled everywhere doesn’t matter because we shouldn’t be using gender on these things anyway, so we just have to be labeled “male” or “female” for the rest of our lives and hope one day people stop needing our gender on everything isn’t fair.

If you don’t like the idea of changing your marker @queer-charmander… then DON’T. No one is forcing you to, but demanding those of us who find being misgendered on every document we exist on more painful than manageable because you, personally, don’t see a point in changing yours/don’t feel it’s safe to, or view it negatively is a pretty bullshit argument against allowing other people to do so.
Saying ‘no one is allowed this option because I don’t want this option’ and ‘this wouldn’t be relief to me, so it isn’t relief for you either’ is an incredibly selfish mindset, as is demanding the rest of us just ‘deal with’ being misgendered at every turn because ‘well gender isn’t needed on this anyways’.

I feel like in a way “serial killers are geniuses” is just part of police propaganda because it sounds way better than “we are fucking lazy and a lot of serial killers know that and target people who we don’t care about because of racism and classism”.
More often than not, the killers’ “genius” is far far FAR outweighed by police incompetence and indifference.
I always think of the green River killer who targeted sex workers cos he knew no one would care and he was basically correct. “I thought I could kill as many as I want and no one would notice” and they didn’t care til he started targeting non sex workers. I want to write a fic where Lilo goes to college and her roommate is Boo from Monsters Inc. Boo is the first person to think Stitch is adorable and cuddly, and Lilo is the first person not to act like “Mike Wazowski” was a weird name for a goldfish. They get on like a house on fire which is kind of bad for Nani’s blood pressure.
But then one night they wake up in the middle of the night because something is in their closet. And the door starts to creak open so Stitch tackles whoever (whatever) is in there. They fall back into the closet, the door slams shut… and when Lilo runs over and opens it there’s nothing but an empty closet.
Then Boo tells Lilo all about this weird thing that happened to her when she was a kid, and how no one ever believed her but she knows it was real.
And cue Lilo and Boo busting into the Monster world to rescue Stitch and wreaking mad havoc in the process.
SEE THIS IS A WORTHY SEQUEL
This needs to happen
Petition for the movie to be hand-drawn in Lilo and Stitch’s style when they’re in the human world, and computer animated once they go through the door into the monster world.
