he  meandered  through  the  small  and  very  cluttered  bookstore,  shuffling  through  every  single  messy  shelf,  tucking  novel  after  novel  safely  under  his  arm  until  he  couldn't  carry  even  one  more.  his  gaze  shifted  to  the  person  standing  nearby.  “eight  books  isn't  too  many,  right  ?"  a  small quirk  of  his  lips.  “in  fact,  some  might  say  it's  not  enough  !”

the  brunette's  eyes  scanned  the  romantasy  section  of  the  beloved  book  store  she  found  herself  in  quite  often  .  tik  tok  had  told  her  of  a  new  book  she  had  to  read  ,  so  she  had  to  run  to  casa  azzura  to  find  it  clearly  .   her  attention  was  diverted  when  a  voice  was  speaking  to  her  ,  “  depends.  are  you  actually  going  to  read  all  eight...  or  are  three  of  them  just  coming  home  to  make  your  bookshelf  look  more  …  performative  ?  ”  caria  teases  .

“ race   to   the   other   side? ”   an   almost   boyish   grin   stretched   across   his   face,   with   his   arms   resting   against   the   edge   of   the   club’s   pristine   pool   and   his   legs   moving   lazily   beneath   the   water.   “ if   i   win,   you   get   me   a   drink.   if   you   win,   you   get   to   drink   with   me. ”   his   smile   widened   before   he   pushed   back   to   give   them   a   fair   start.

caria  lets  out  a  laugh  ,  ignoring  the  male's  request  .  her  eyes  were  scanning  the  other  end  of  the  pool  ,  debating  with  herself  how  long  she  thinks  it  would  take  for  her  freestyle  lap  .  “  oh  ,  you're  being  serious  ?  ”  she  questions  ,  raising  her  brow  .  “  absolutely  not  ,  i'm  not  letting  a  little  race  with  you  mess  with  my  workout  .  ”  a  scoff  falls  from  her  lips  as  she  wipes  a  few  drops  of  water  off  her  face  .  “  even  if  it's  for  a  drink  .  ”

“ so   i   have   an   idea, ”   tonio   began,   slowing   beside   them   as   the   street   market   carried   on   around   them.   “ you   know   how   those   book   club   people   have   that   little   table?   leave   a   book,   take   a   book,   kind of thing. ”   his   gaze   moved   over   the   crates   of   tomatoes,   lemons   and   greens,   the   thought   clearly   starting   to   amuse   him.   “ maybe   we   could   do   something   like   that   around   the   neighborhood.   could   be   nice,   no? ”

the  brunette  nodded  along  with  the  taller  male's  idea  ,  it  was  certainly  something  she  could  get  behind  .  "  careful.  give  me  a  community  swap  table  and  i'll  start  leaving  sourdough  starter  everywhere.  i  always  end  up  with  too  much . "  she  began  .  “  but  ,  maybe  this  is  the  way  to  kickstart  my  sourdough  business  .  ” 

“   i’m   asking   nicely,   ”    a   steady,    serious   voice   rings   around   the   area,    the   brunette’s   arms   are   folded   on   her   chest   as   she’s   staring   into   the   open   engine   compartment.    green   hues   are   looking   at   an   orange   cat   who   is   clearly   not   moving   anywhere,    even   after   she   tried   to   coax   him   with   gentle   words   and   remains   of   pastry   she   had   for   breakfast.    she   even   attempted   a   speech   about   workplace   safety.    nada.    “   listen   up   big   guy,   ”    he   weights   like   four   kilos,    by   the   way.    she’s   crouching   beside   the   yacht.    the   cat   yawns   and   as   ridiculous   as   it   sounds,    it   feels   like   a   slap   on   her   face.    “   i   have   three   hours   of   work   waiting   for   me   under   there,    you   need   to   work   with   me   here,   ”    manicured   fingers   are   pinching   the   bridge   of   her   nose   as   she   takes   a   deep   breath   and   as   her   gaze   moves   up,    now   it’s   focused   on   a   figure   in   the   corner,    clearly   witnessing   the   entire   thing.    “   don’t   even   say   a   word,   ”

caria's  eyes  can't  help  but  watch  the  brunette  struggling  with  what  looks  like  …  a  cat  ?  lucky  for  her  ,  cats  were  caria's  favorite  animal  .  the  moment  she  spots  one  ..  which  was  quite  often  in  capri  ,  she  turns  into  the  town's  favorite  vet  ,  or  that's  what  she  likes  to  say  .  “  looks  like  you  need  some  help  .  ”  caria  teases  ,  bending  down  beside  zoya  and  reaching  her  hand  out  to  the  cat  .  caria  makes  kissing  sounds  at  the  cat  as  she  watches  it  prance  over  to  her  and  her  french  tips  quickly  scoop  the  animal  into  her  arms  .  “  yes  ,  i  do  consider  myself  a  cat  whisperer  .  ”
