what’s the word around alessia luciani in capri these days ? don’t look at me like that, you know them — they go by lexie, you know, the twenty-seven year old local. you can probably find them at forno luciani as a baker where people describe them as distracted and clumsy, but others swear they’re whimsical and sentimental if you catch them at the right moment. they fit somewhere between saltwater tangled hair, powdered sugar on tanned skin, handwritten recipes stained with olive oil, the smell of espresso and sunscreen, though most people associate them with always falling a little bit in love with the wrong people.
✧ full name: alessia gia luciani
✧ nickname(s): lexie, ale, gia (family)
✧ birthday: july 17th

about.
✧ born and raised in capri, alessia luciani grew up between the narrow streets of the island, the crowded beaches full of tourists, and the bakery her grandparents built long before she was born. most of her childhood was spent running deliveries, sneaking pastries before they cooled, and learning recipes by watching her grandparents from a rackety stool
✧ her parents were largely absent, inconsistent enough that eventually nobody bothered pretending otherwise. it was her grandparents who raised her properly, and growing up around a marriage that soft and enduring left alessia with unrealistic expectations about love from an early age.
✧ she left capri only once, moving to the mainland for university and spending a few years trying to convince herself was getting something out of it but the city never fit quite right. she missed the island, missed familiarity, missed knowing everyone she passed and getting to know those she didn't.
✧ when her grandparents’ health began slowing them down, alessia returned home and took over forno luciani alongside her sibling, slipping back into island life almost too easily
present & headcanons.
✧ hardworking almost to a fault, she is the type to wake up before sunrise for the bakery and still spend the rest of the day taking care of everyone around her without complaint.
✧ alessia falls in love easily and unwisely, drawn repeatedly toward people who enjoy being adored more than they enjoy loving her back. despite that, she remains painfully optimistic. she still believes in soulmates, still cries at weddings, still thinks one day someone will choose her as fully and instinctively as her grandparents chose each other.
✧ most evenings, you can find her on the terrace with music playing softly in the background, feeding people cannolis they didn’t ask for, pouring homemade limoncello into mismatched glasses, and talking long into the night with strangers visiting the island.

adam was the product of a one-night stand and, his mother's family coming from a religious and political family, his parents were forced to marry right out of college. at home, his father didn't try to hide how unhappy he was and kept both adam and his mother at a distance.
nothing really changed for adam when his parents finally separated when he was sixteen. he barely felt his father's presence at home anyway, so he didn't notice his absence either. by then, his days were also pretty filled with school, sports, and girls.
sports was something that adam quickly realized he was good at. and he enjoyed it too. he was scouted to play football in college, but an injury during his second year caused him to quit the team.
he'd only ever dated one girl seriously. they'd been together since high school and even went to the same college together. but adam was pretty miserable after his injury and had treated her pretty badly. he pushed her away and eventually, they broke up. months later, she moved out of the country and he hadn't really heard from her ever since.
after graduation, adam was able to land a job for an outdoor brand and the set-up (the constant traveling) worked well for him. his job actually sent him to capri.
personality: adam can come off as headstrong and stubborn when you first get to know him. he's not exactly afraid to say exactly what's on his mind. he developed a love for the outdoors after he recovered from his injury but was told he couldn't play anymore. he loves to rock climb, camp, and just loves being in nature. he's a pretty dependable friend, though ever since the pretty messy breakup with his ex-girlfriend, he's mostly stuck to having casual relationships. he does have the tendency to push people away or isolate when he's going through something

bio (cw: sickness, death of a family member)
Shaelin Chang was born to two very wealthy parents on the Upper East Side of New York City, named after her grandmother on her mother's side. they've always had money and all the privilege that comes with it. Shae grew up wanting for nothing, spoiled as her parents' pride and joy, sent to the best private schools and learned to love the finer things in life.
though it was impossible not to spoil their little girl, her parents did do their best to instill the best values in their daughter. she never did quite learn the value of a dollar or hard work, but she still grew up with a heart of gold, always showing compassion and sincerity, and wanting to see the best in people. wherever they went, she tried to lead with the best of herself too.
for several summers in her adolescence, Capri was a regular destination for their family vacations, sometimes adding in stops in Spain and France too, or opting to go in the winter when they weren't feeling up for skiing in Aspen. for no meaningful reason, they stopped going— likely when Rome became her family's newest summer obsession, or the beaches of Tulum. she loved the glittering coasts of the island, and holds many fond memories there, but hasn't thought about them in years.
life is about as perfect as one can imagine, and in her early twenties, Shae finds herself in the life of a young socialite— living off her parents' money and trust fund, taking in the city's arts, culture, and nightlife, and letting her business degree from university collect dust. she'd once thought she'd be inheriting her mom's company— a fine jewelry line crafted from her mother's eye— but that business venture had recently ended, and Shae figures she doesn't need to think about much else than enjoying her free lifestyle now, despite the surprising disappointment around it.
it isn't until her mother gets sick that she starts to take things more seriously. her mom had always been a vibrant, fiery woman. seeing her bedridden by illness shakes Shae to her core, and she finds herself staying home most nights by then, wanting to be by her mother's side and to help the live-in nurses and caretakers look after her. she knows deep down there's little chance of her mom surviving, but she insists on living in a fantasy that it will all get better someday soon.
when her mother passes, Shae gets a taste of reality she was never prepared for. it breaks something in her, something she's not sure she'll ever really recover, and she can see that same heartache in her father too. she understands it when the two of them grow a little distant, even if what they really need are each other. he throws himself into work, and Shae picks up the old dreams she had of following in her mother's footsteps, studying the art of fine jewelry her mother loved so much. maybe it wont be under the name her mother had built, but she'd find some other way to chase after that legacy.
her life starts to get a little bit tedious, finding herself enjoying the city less and focusing on the craft her mother left behind. she'd attend some gatherings and parties like usual, but wished she made more time to see friends or have a spontaneous night out. she knows the bubbly girl she'd always been is still in her, but her spark has slowly been fading.
a little over a year ago, she and the handsome son of a family friend get set up together, and in the safety of a steady relationship, Shae gets lost in a cookie-cutter sort of life. everything is perfectly fine— he's a nice enough guy, with a nice enough family, and the future they're always constantly bringing up could certainly be nice enough too. when he proposes in the new year, she has no reason to say no (other than the fact that she doesn't feel a strong urge to say yes either).
as summer nears, both families head out for a sunny vacation in Marseilles, France. Shae wishes the vacation didn't come with so much discussion of wedding preparation, but no one else seems to notice how much it bothers her. the whole trip is a pain, in honesty, and she misses vacations when they used to be just her and her parents. her mother would always want to pull them along on surprise excursions, making sure they got lost in the local nightlife, and tasted the breadth of culture new cities had to offer. with her fiance's family, all their days are planned out to the minute, stuck inside the confines of a resort.
half-way through the trip, Shae snaps. the offense is innocuous enough, and she's sure they probably think she's crazy for the reaction she gives, but she doesn't care. when at dinner, the topic arises to Shae's plans for her future, and she gets to talking about her dreams to follow in her mother's footsteps and start her own fine jewelry line. her fiance's parents are as swift with their response as they are casual, assuring her that wasn't in the cards for her, that no wife of their son's would need a job, and would instead likely need to make sure she was free to take care of the lavish home they'd soon buy together. when she looks to her fiance to defend her— who always knew about her dreams— he doesn't even bat an eye. she goes to bed that night only saying goodnight to her father, and excuses herself from the next morning's planned activities.
instead, Shae packs up all her belongings she took on vacation, withdraws as much cash as she possibly can from a French atm, and racks her brain for anywhere she can go that isn't here, that isn't somewhere her father or fiance's family will immediately come chasing after her. it's crazy, she knows it's crazy— and a far cry from the picture-perfect mannequin of a woman she was slowly becoming, but she just needs a break.
though it had been years since she'd thought of it, the coasts of a tiny Italian island come to mind, a place she remembers cherishing years ago. so, she buys herself a ticket to Capri by train, then cab, then boat, until she's finding herself on the tiny gorgeous island she used to love. she calls her father and explains that she just needs time away— some soul-searching, or whatever it is rich people with too much time and money on their hands do— and asks to please leave her be. she can't let anyone from her life know where she is, lest they drag her back before she's ready, or see her for the slowly unraveling young woman she is.
checking into Casa Miraflora for an extended stay, she doesn't have much of a plan. with only two (admittedly) large suitcases and a, frankly, obscene amount of cash hidden away, she surmises she can absolutely get by for at least month. maybe by then she'll have gotten this fear and chaos out of her system, found the answers within herself she's looking for, and then get back on a plane to New York, swearing she's totally fine and ready to marry a man she might not even love and stay trapped in a life that may have been slowly suffocating her. right...
so, yes, she's sort of running away, but she's convinced herself she just needs to get out of her head, be on her own for a bit, and do something adventurous before signing up for a life she thinks feels too much like a trap. what better place to do that than Capri in the summer?
with her engagement ring stashed in the safe of her hotel room, and her personal life kept secret from anyone and everyone she's about to meet, shae is trying her hardest to just be a tourist— to give in to the bustling town and the perfect waters and the sweltering sun, and let Capri do what it does best: give her an unforgettable summer.

bright, bubbly new york socialite, born to wealthy parents, though her mother sadly passed five years ago and it's just been her and her father
used to not have any plans for her life, but when her mother passes, she picks up the old passion for jewelry-making she used to share with her, wanting to follow in the footsteps of her mom's old business
been in a year-long relationship set up by her father and a family they're close to. at the beginning of the year, at his parents' urging, he proposed, and they've slowly been making arrangements.
on a vacation with both families, celebrating the engagement, Shae finds herself feeling more and more trapped. when her fiance's family insists she give up on her dreams of starting a business like her mother, that she'd be expected not to work and take care of the home, Shae snaps and pretty much runs away
she comes to Capri in secret, telling herself she just needs a break and time to figure herself out before she probably goes back home in a month or so and commits to the life laid out for her
she's hiding her ring and her personal life and trying her best to just get lost in the island and be someone different for the summer . . .

noah choi was born to parents william graham mansfield and mi-yeong "mia" choi on october 6, 1999. his parents had met while his mother was studying abroad; mia had chosen london, england to spend a semester studying psychology, and she met william during a day trip to brighton and hove. soon after, the pair engaged in a tumultuous affair that ended in a hasty, courthouse marriage and a bustling baby boy. mia wanted to stay in irvine, and thus william moved to be closer to her and their son.
despite mia's desire to bring noah into a happy and healthy home, the reality of the situation was grim: william was an alcoholic, and his long nights spent with bottles of liquor resulted in anger and psychosis. mia feared approaching william about his behaviors — she was a stay at home mother, and her lack of experience outside of academia made it difficult for her to find any work. additionally, william was adept at camoflaguing himself: he held a steady career in accounting, and mia risked her and noah's livelihood were she to try and leave. ultimately, mia tried her best to bring up noah amid the chaos.
noah was thirteen when his father vanished, leaving behind phantoms of violence and trembling anxiety in his wake. despite mia's fear of her husband, she found herself missing william and was desperate for companionship; however, noah was secretly relieved. he did not feel particularly close to his father, and william's absence meant noah could now pretend he never existed.
noah often felt like he did not fully exist either: he was a ghost at school and at home, flitting through the hallways with abandon and simply trying his best to make it through each day. noah was an average student in all subjects except math, in which he excelled. he had no personal relationships keeping him afloat, and noah often felt as though companionship was not for him. noah's father was no loving figure, and his mother — who often loudly proclaimed that she “did her best” — was emotionally neglectful herself; his mother emphasized the little material comforts that the family had versus their relationship to each other.
these beliefs were only reinforced upon mia's second marriage to gregory paul wilson, a head chef in his fifties. noah was fifteen when his mother remarried, and while he silently held the opinion that his mother was remarrying far too quickly (and to an even older man), noah didn’t notice any immediate red flags. gregory had two children from his previous marriage, and appeared to be kind and stable; noah believed that gregory would be more stable than his father.
quickly after mia and gregory’s wedding, the mask slipped and gregory allowed himself to feel comfortable in his cruelty, verbally abusing his children, mia, and noah. gregory would try to physically punish mia for perceived transgressions, but noah would defend his mother and allow himself to become the object of gregory’s anger instead.
upon turning eighteen, noah quickly moved out of his childhood home and enrolled in the local university. noah wanted to study math and earn enough money to move out of town forever; however, he struggled with his studies and ended up dropping out after his first semester. rather than move back in with his mother, noah left irvine and began bouncing around from city to city and state to state, picking up odd jobs in order to keep him afloat. noah often found himself living with strangers who had a similar background to him, or — even worse — his biological father.
noah was nowhere near "unreliable," though: he was extremely skilled with machinery, and co-workers commended his ability to diagnose mechanical issues that seemed to have little to no symptomology. noah found himself promoted to managerial and administrative positions; however, his favorite role was always as a mechanic. noah found that repairing things gave him purpose, and perhaps subconsciously made him feel that he could also be "fixed."
when noah was twenty three, he was offered a position as a boat mechanic at porto velluto in capri, italy. his manager had referred him to the role, and encouraged noah to get out and find himself. noah found the idea of moving stressful: he had only ever been to england, and even then it was with his family when he was a child. anxieties notwithstanding, noah decided to take the leap and move to capri — he felt that the only way for him to move forward was for him to leave everything behind.
despite being far removed from his childhood, noah still finds himself overwhelmed with grief and pain. noah has lived in capri for three years, but still finds himself feeling like an outsider. he still makes a good faith effort to put himself out there, but his inner critic often prevents him from fully enjoying things.
perhaps contradictorily so, noah is a hopeless romantic. he likes to believe in the idea of soulmates (platonic and romantic), and he is a big believer in yearning. despite craving closeness, noah has previously run from relationships when that closeness encroaches upon him. it is likely that noah has broken a couple of hearts this way, albeit unbeknownst to him (and without malice).
regardless, noah enjoys capri, and has no plans of leaving anytime soon.

eldest child, only daughter ( of the current vice president of the senate of the italian republic ). laura's life was marred with politics from birth. her mother, a hot-shot lawyer, is equally entrenched in family business, as the salvini lineage is one meant for prestige. in italy, especially in the realm of politics, you're bound to run into at least one salvini, no matter where you turn.
not much is known about laura's early life. some would attribute it to the excessive privacy that her family always attempts to maintain in regards to their public image. laura would disagree. there simply isn't much to tell. there's nothing that lingers, nothing other than rooms filled with vapid people and boring conversation that hardly ever felt genuine.
the one thing you ought to know about laura is that she had dreams. somewhere along the line, perhaps while she was busy becoming the person everyone wanted her to be, she allowed them to disperse. ( she actually wanted to be a pop star, but hey, let's not talk about it now )
of course, even the most thoroughbred house pet meant for display learns how to misbehave. this ended soon enough at the boarding schools she was sent away to attend.
by twenty, she was already placed behind the scenes, becoming a speechwriter for her family's political campaigns. it's been said that she has a way with words, or a talent of sorts, that the family knows how to put to use.
she's always been spoiled, and has had a penchant for trouble, the same way all rich blonde girls who think they own world do. except, she loves too much. never too little. it's life's greatest tragedy that she actually knows how to love, but can't find anyone to love her. she's awfully clingily, yet volatile, and drowns in the people she holds close. perhaps she's waiting for them to fix her. instead, they leave her in a much worse state than they had found her, a chewed up little toy discarded when it stops being fun. ( not every girl can be a girl winner. some girls suck at love heh )
hold my hand when i say this, but yes, she can be a bit pathetic. like of course she's going to cry and make a fool of herself over the people that she dates. she's just a girl, like literally.
her latest breakup has served as a catalyst for the recent array of bad decisions. yes, she's drunk in the middle of the day, yes, she threw up in the flower pot, yes, the paparazzi took a picture of her doing a line of coke, yes, it's all over the news, and her reputation has never been worse. it also doesn't help that she tries so desperately to fill that empty scape that was left at her side by dragging people into her bed. it helps even less that it's highly scrutinized, and then publicized. but laura will tell you that she's never been better. her entire life, she was never allowed to be herself.
had a falling out on a yacht near the coast and most assume it's because of her breakup. the details of the night remain a blur but by the morning, they had to fish her out of the waters. she nearly drowned, yet doesn't speak of it.
has been to capri far too many times to count. she's been coming here since she was a little girl, though always in intervals — when she needed it the most. or least. it's not a destination. it's a habit.
possible list of ideas/connections include that one person who fished out the water on the night she almost drowned. i'd love to chat about what actually happened, not just with her but what she told them. then of course, people that she's currently sleeping with, using them in a sense to sort of get back at her former beloved, and to actually feel less alone ( this would be open to anyone really, perhaps even more than one ). people who have joined her in her madness and love that she has money so of course they do every bad thing with her that can be done ( let's steal another person's dog and then drink ). perhaps someone that's basically happy to see her crashing out. ( we support crash outs here ).

trigger warnings: homophobia
soledad ramirez grew up surrounded by siblings and cousins. the family has a truly impressive number of children - soledad being the youngest child out of six. by the time they arrived, everything seemed like it had been done and experienced by her other siblings - so the ability to stand out, to be original, always mattered to them. they were raised primarily by their older sister who always had an opinion on everything soledad had to say and do. but because soledad's parents were quite older and sicker than most people's by the time they came into the picture, soledad was raised primarily by her siblings. they were a surprise to even their parents, and the birth was difficult, but they were loved nonetheless.
they grew up in everglade city, florida, a very, very small populace. they were subject to ridicule and often bullied for their eccentric tendencies, their very sarcastic mouth, their sexuality and gender expression, and their blunt honesty. they made little friends in school, and the debut of their first queer book after high school did them little favors in this department. feeling alienated, and now with money to travel and see the world, they paid off their mother and fathers home and then left to see the world.
their book, trailblazer, became a huge hit with queer booktok. based on queer characters set in the wild west, it's a beacon for those who are looking for acceptance and pride. they're working on the sequel currently, and have landed in capri - have been here for about 3 years now.

first born to young new yorker parents unready and unwilling to do what it take to be good ones, there is very little gabe feels grateful for when it comes to his family.
only two, he would say. the river he would run to and spend hours fishing to escape a loud eratic house, and his baby sister, six years younger.
alcoholism tw; violence tw; growing up had always been the two of them against the house, or more specifically, against the bottle of their father. their mother could barely stand him as a boy, and she'd totally given up on the first birthday of his sister. it left their father enraged, even if he claimed he had a heart to keep them with him. it would've been more merciful to let them go, gabe always thought. gabriel was the one to give the bottle, as their father turned to bottles. the more they grew, the less his empty bottles were wasted in the trash, but instead always found their ways against walls and to a young boy's throat if he dared to stand up for his sister. she'd always been braver than him, always knew to not let their father disrespect her with harsh words. and gabe always knew to step in before anything bad could happen. and nothing would to her, she was always the favorite. she was always there to difuse the wrath seconds before it blew.
she was the brave one to look for them to get out of this. it took years, working wasn't always enough when their father would steal their cards for more spirit. but she knew to get away from him, they had to get away from town. and the overachiever she is, town wasn't enough. she made a plan to get herself a passport, to look for something far away. gabe stayed as long as he did for her, he couldnt stand the thought of leaving her alone in this house.
when she went looking for her freedom, she urged him to do the same.
and so he did, knowing that if he stayed, with her gone to bring short peace, he wouldn't live long to get another chance at leaving.
he called up a friend of his working the shipping port. they're always looking for cheap crew, and gabe can't get more cheap working completely free for the duration of the trip to rotterdam.
the ocean was kinder to him than the rocky waves of home, and the crossing had surprisingly passed quickly. he's a good worker, and he's welcome back anytime. but it will be the last time he crosses the atlantic.
it was four years ago that his quest for freedom took him to capri. from trains to boats, he'd found himself sailing to the coastal town at the peak of its touristic season. the buzzy air, the carefreeness of its people, the sea of strangers. all a mix in which he recognized he could lose himself in. and for someone that wants to shed away any remain of a past life, this was the perfect for a new one.
indulging in the festivities of the island at first, he knows he has to be more than a mindless stranger if he wants to make this work. he's drawn to the docks like a moth to a flame, watching the old fishers in the bay every morning for weeks before he teaches himself how to speak a broken italian to break conversation. there was one elderly man, mr. leonardi, always at the bow an old fishing boat that never took to the waters, and he was curious as to why he never joined the others.
it wasn't in sailing condition, and the repair costs were too troublesome. so gabe didn't think twice before offering himself to fix it. cheap once again, only asking to be a fishing companion once it is done.
it takes a few months, in which he's been welcomed by the old sailor like a mentor. him and his wife took him for dinner every evening, and every morning for coffee before he went to work. his broken italian started to mend, and not too soon the boat was ready to sail again. the captain more than happy to have a crewmate with him.
a forced hobby turned back into fruitful business, with a hand to reel in the bigger fishes and cleaning up the boat every day after they'd docked. the work was for gabe, no matter how demanding. waking up with the stars, sailing and fishing until the sky lit up above them, and docking in time for the market. by noon, all fishes were sold, and there was nothing more to do than being sunkissed on the island.
it's been his own heaven for years, a routine he swore was freedom. quite obviously, something had to disturb in newfound peace.
mr leonardi passed earlier in the year, after a life well lived and laughed. gabe wasn't a son, but the couple's children had no use for the boat, nor did they think it fair for it to leave this port it spent it's whole life in. so gabriel inherited it, so to say. swore to keep it running, to keep it shining, and to keep the leonardi name a trustworthy one at the market.
the high season mixed with the touristy season are both right around the corner, and it will be the first year he has to manage it all by himself. for the first time since arriving, he will get to finally sail on his own.
headcanons.
I. kept the dorsal fin of the fish that sucker slapped him </3
II. sometimes get a little too drunk at the end of the day, to prove to himself he can still be decent under the influence and he won't let it make him become his father.
III. tinkers a lot. he fishes up many broken things, and sometimes he tries to bring them back to life. the watch he adorns is an example. will rarely buy anything new, and thinks for weeks and months before making any type of purchases for himself.
IV. always sends half of his paychecks in an emergency account for his sister. they lacked of so much growing up, and he never wants her to miss of anything ever again.

tl;dr
boy who left a shitty family situation four years ago to find even an ounce of freedom he never got to have, and what's better than an italian coastal town where you can become anyone you want to start over ? trying to start a new life ever since! loved fishing as a kid, lucky to keep going at it now. a little guarded as he never really learned to trust people, he's trying his best to not be that person, learning to have fun along with strangers, tasting freedom and getting into silly situations just for the hell of it!
