In hindsight, that was pretty obvious. The uncharacteristically minty scent, the unwavering steady heartbeat and the unfamiliar scattering of moles should have been a dead giveaway. In Derek’s defence, he was a bit preoccupied upon entering the room through the second-story window to notice the disclosing nuances which, on any other day, would have stood out to the werewolf like glowing crimson eyes in the darkness. But somehow the signs flew past Derek’s head, and now with this little (or horrible, life-ruining, really) mishap, Derek felt double the embarrassment flood his cheeks as reality came crashing down all at once.
