Sooo I watched the movie and liked it, but making our Wanda the villain, although teased in prior movies, still kind of rubbed me the wrong way and I wanted to ask if some of you feel the same.

- I hate the „crazy woman can’t handle her powers and grief and becomes hysterical“ trope and it IS rooted in misogyny

- it‘s absolutely sexist and I know of no man in the MCU who suffered through a similar trope

- And I KNOW that the scarlet Witch is an ambivalent character in the comics but I still think the writers could have made it less sexist

- in wandavision for example Wanda is portrayed as griefing, but we can absolutely emphasize with her. She also comes to terms with her powers and what she did and decides to do the right thing at the end, saving Westview but still owning her powers

- and then in MOM Wanda is suddenly a mass murderer

- I KNOW that the Darkhold corrupts her but it just all feels a little wrong. We never saw her getting influenced by it and I think there is just a big gap from using the book to find your children (end of Wandavision) to killing a motherless child

- And her (seemingly) sacrificing her life at the end after she realized what she did is a trope I hate as well, so I really hope she will come back

- literally the worst thing is showing a mentally unstable character kill themselves as an act of redemption you can’t change my mind here

- I just feel like if someone would have actually checked up on Wanda regularly nothing of this would have happend

- I will obviously support her because it’s my holy mission to stan female characters that have been wronged by male writers

- I got Daenerys flashbacks

- they better give her a movie or storyline where she finally owns her powers and overcomes her grief in a none sexist way. If Loki can get a redemption so can she
