sorry for disappearing for a few days but i'm back and i definitely agree w/ you that part of what makes rosquez so compelling is their shared arrogance + stubbornness + crazy drive to race and (more importantly) WIN and how central it all is to their relationship and it's eventual fallout that honestly idk how i'm gonna incorporate it into my mamma mia-verse…if you couldn't tell i'm just writing this fic based on nothing but vibes and whatever sounds fun!!
like right now i'm thinking that yes, alex continues racing and he's the one makes it to motogp, which how marc, who's taken on some nebulous management role in alex's team, initially meets vale but then the brothers have a lewis and anthony hamilton-style "split" (alex: hey, i think it's better for our relationship if you take a step back and just be my brother. marc: oh ok so you hate me!) and that summer break marc is still a little hurt -> decides he needs a little space -> proceeds to have a bit of a slag summer around europe -> we all know what happens next :)

I think for me the two Marquezs are so entwined it doesn't make sense for them to be split up...
I'm doing a "Marc had a career ending injury while in Moto3 but runs into Valentino while celebrating Alex's Moto3 championship in 2014 and they hook up for the first time. Very casual (both want it to be more).
Something happens in 2015 and Valentino blames Marc, at which point he storms off and goes on a quick tour of the rest of the paddock before settling down on a Greek island and. Getting Diogo. Somehow.
But yeah it's definitely the fallout that's the hardest, and I want to give Marc some sort of competitive role but I'm not sure how!
