Itβs black history month so as a black girl, Iβd like to leave a few reminders for non-black people:
β’Recognize the fact that many black people are a part of the LGBT community and that itβs not just white people who can be gay, bi, etc.
β’Acknowledge the black men and women that have been victims of hate crimes
β’Include black women in your feminism
β’If a black person calls you out over something racist that youβve said, donβt say βWell actually...β or βMy black friend says...β Just donβt. If youβre getting called out for something, itβs for a reason.
β’Donβt speak over us.
β’Donβt act like you know better than we do about our own history and/or culture
Non-black people can rb but donβt add anything.
