Not to hijack the weed allergy discourse but also donât smoke at pride cause if someone has asthma then just the smell of smoke can cause their chests to close up. No amount of inhalers is gonna keep us from being unable to breathe in smoke. Please donât smoke at pride.
just dont smoke in populated public spaces like period. its common courtesy no one wants your secondhand and there are tons of health conditions that can cause a negative reaction to smoke exposure, plus it just smells nasty. this goes for weed, tobacco products, and your dessert flavored vapes too

to clarify, these are two different young girls pulling two different swords from two different lakes, about a year apart. strange women in ponds will continue to distribute swords
Listen maybe Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is a good basis for a system of government.
when anticommunists tell u that âyou havent paid attention to historyâ or âyou need to study historyâ what theyre really saying is âwhy wont you take at face value the biased and often reductionist history you were taught by capitalists about why socialism is evilâ. when they talk about âstudying historyâ theyre not interested in talking about every coup the cia backed, every terrorist group the us funded in order to âfight communistsâ, every war that imperialist powers started over profit, or every innocent person killed in those wars. they dont want to talk about the history of violent racism and police brutality, or about every person the us government has tortured, or the history of suppression of leftists and the working class, or how companies fund right wing death squads, they just want to say âthe ussr is why communism is badâ
ok since this post made a lot of people who cant stand to see capitalism critiqued in any form mad im going to provide sources for all the shit im talking about.Â
list of us involvement in regime changes and heres a notable one when the cia helped overthrow the democratically elected socialist president of chile and replaced him with a fascist dictator who was responsible for thousands of deaths
oh here, 35 countries where the us supported fascists drug lords and terroristsÂ
that time when reagan supported and funded islamic extremists because they were âfighting communistsâ, now go forward a decade or so and the us thinks islamic extremism is a huge threat
a timeline of atrocities committed by the cia- did you know the cia took in a bunch of nazis spies right after ww2 so they could help the us once again fight communists?
when reagan illegally sold weapons to iran and used the money to fund a right wing militia in nicaragua called the contras, who were fighting the left wing socialist sandinistas. oh heres all the human rights violations the contras committed while illegally getting money from the us, home of the free and land of the brave am i right
torture under the bush administration and by the cia
us war crimes and the casualties of the iraq war
btw the us has most likely been lying about the amount of civilian deaths caused by drone strikes and the actual number is way higher than theyre officially saying and this is just from the obama administration
that time coca cola used right wing death squads to murder and terrorize workers and stop them from unionzingÂ
nestle using slave labour
how cointelpro targeted civil rights movements, black power movements, and radical leftists and murdered leaders of the movementsÂ
when the us outlawed the communist party and being involved in communist actions
and if you didnt know the us uses prison labour where prisoners get payed sometimes only a few dollars a week all for the profit of the prisons
list of people killed by police by yearÂ
if you want to tell leftists they need to study history but you dont want to look at any of the crimes of capital, or the crimes committed in upholding capitalism then you dont give a shit about studying history. if you can recognize that gulags were fucked up and horrible, as you should, you cant turn a blind eye on the american prison system where people are being forced to work for almost no pay. so the question is do you actually care about studying history or do you just want to deflect off every critique of capitalism
It really, REALLY bothers me when I hear people frame climate change and other environmental crises as something that everyday, average-ass people are responsible for, and not corporations and entire governments.Â
Like literally, how can a regular-ass person ~opt out~ of all damaging behaviors while still being able to function in society?Â
You literally canât.Â
The future of our planet is not down to whether or not someone recycles their water bottle.Â
Itâs down to whether or not governments and corporations decide to quit sucking up all our resources and poisoning the earth with reckless abandon.Â
I mean obviously people should still live as cleanly and as sustainably as they can manage where they are and with what they have, but like. THAT isnât the major issue.Â
govts and corporations have deliberately put the onus on yr individual choices so the system can continue being as destructive/profitable
God bless this post this pisses me off so much Also this hyper-individualist shift of responsibility is largely an American thing and consumerism is framed as a solution- e.g., buy more shit thatâs sustainable! Thatâll fix the problem (buy a new, green water bottle! buy a new, green car! buy a new, green whatever-the-fuck thatâll just ultimately produce more waste)!
I took a course in sustainable engineering.
The professor mentioned that even if every private individual in the world were to conserve resources and the environment the olâ Jimmy Carter way- by turning down the thermostat, recycling your glass and plastics and metals, cut down on luxuries, take shorter showers, etc., it would only get us 10% of the way to where we need to be in order to avoid global catastrophic climate change.
The vast majority of freshwater use is from industry and agriculture. http://www.worldometers.info/water/Â
The vast majority of CO2 emissions is from industrial and electrical generation sites and associated vehicles. http://www3.epa.gov/climatechange/ghgemissions/gases/co2.html
Private individuals hardly make a dent, even in ideal conditions.
Thank you.
Extra important note for spoonies. Please donât feel bad for needing disposable medical equipment, pill bottles, long showers, micro fiber blankets, packaged pre-made food, straws, paper plates etc. Youâre not individually ruining the environment, youâre doing the best you can while taking care of yourself. The blame is on corporations.
And now this ridiculous straw ban nonsense. They FEEL like theyâre accomplishing something so thatâs all that matters. And they simply donât care or donât believe disabled voices.

Iâm so tired of this bullshit. Individual capitalists maximize their own self-gain through the accumulation of profits, while the state as an institution enacts policies that look out for the longevity of capital as a whole, specifically when the choices of disparate capitalists cause crises or civil unrest. Some Keynesianism here, some worker concessions there. That isnât socialism â those policies are created to prolong capitalism and prevent socialism (i.e. prolong capital accumulation and top-down ownership over the means of production, and prevent worker self-management and broader economic democracy). The state, through its structural functions, maintains the status quo and keeps capital accumulation going into the long-term. You can call this âcorporatismâ or âcronyismâ or whatever the hell else, but it will never change the fact that the preconditions of âpure capitalismâ will always give rise to a legitimizing apparatus with a monopoly on violence to maintain the class stratification of âpure capitalismâ, and after probably two days youâd end up with âcronyismâ (read: capitalism as it has always existed) all over again.
Even the scant universal basic income proposals in the mainstream discourse are ultimately about prolonging capital accumulation. Experts who advocate UBIs (without any further transformation of social/class relations) are essentially arguing their point from the perspective of, âIf we redistribute scraps down to the masses, it will prevent crisis and civil unrest and the job creators can continue doing what they do.â Literally, capital accumulation is the engine through which our entire political economy functions â the factor most linked to power and policy, the deciding factor of all issues at the end of the day. I donât see how you could possibly disconnect the top-down nature of the economy from the supposedly bottom-up nature of the political system, but to repeat myself: the former will always determine the latter, and thereâs no escaping it. Bottom-up political economy is the only solution.
And Iâm not saying in this post that you shouldnât support worker concessions and UBIs when they come up â or that class struggle shouldnât fight for them. They will make a lot of peopleâs lives easier and more fulfilling. But it wonât solve the core problems of capitalism and that capital-accumulation engine I mentioned above. I mostly wanted to emphasize that every issue inevitably needs to be framed through that lens under capitalism, and how that impacts the political system, and how oblivious right-wing libertarians are in their analysis of capitalism and âcorporatismâ.
Its always been like this. Give just enough concessions to the social reformers and workers that it staves off a revolt. Im tired of people hailing certain âliberalâ presidents for this.
They only loosen one chain because theyâve come up with newer better ones.
The other day I was trying to say, "I love business cards." But I ended up saying "I love bismuth" over and over again
oh same
iâm very tired, you guys realize poor people are allowed to spend money on items that arenât just needed for survival, right? you guys know poor people can save 10 dollars every paycheck or something so they can buy a video game or a tattoo or go to a fancy restaurant, right? you realize poor people donât have to act like 16th century peasants in order to be considered poor and need money? like you do know poor people are allowed to fucking enjoy things, donât you?
Having things to keep you feeling happy, occupied, and fulfilled, are important to our mental health, and mental health can be almost as important as physical health.

Happy Black History Month
we have countless empty homes, we have far more empty homes than homeless people, and simply being housed away from the windchill is enough to save a life in the bitter cold of the east.Â
People die in front of empty homes they arenât allowed to enter simply because no one owns them yet.Â
People are dying because the rich would rather homes stay empty and dilapidate than have said homes save the lives of the poor.
Instead of utilizing the abundant homes and housing infrastructure we already possess, folks are forced to waste their money doing shit like this:
temporarily housing 70 homeless folks in a hotel, out of chicagoâs 5000+ homeless population, who many were, no doubt, still stuck in the bitter cold.Â
because despite being more expensive and less efficient, housing people for a night in one of the worst polar vortexes weâve seen in years is more legal than paying for heating in more long-term solutions.
It would literally be cheaper to set up another homeless shelter with heating than continue to do something like this, but folks feel like their arms are turned, and this is the best they can do instead of battle with our legal infrastructure.
When people die in these metro areas, theyâre dying in areas that hold more than enough homes and heating.
Capitalism kills folks for being poor, donât forget that. This is a lethal system.
How many winters must me sit through and watch innocent people die because they couldnât afford housing?Â
All the while we fight over building a wall whose cost could easily house the freezing homeless folks out east.
Why do we need âborder securityâ when our government openly and willingly kills folks within the borders? Are they trying to trap us in here?
not to say we shouldnât have fun or that the individual is responsible for this, but look at the ridiculous shit we choose to spend on money over innocent lives.
we spend on this over the homeless because our sociopolitical infrastructure makes it very difficult for the average individual to help their fellow person.
and need i fucking remind all of you
we are wasting money by letting these folks die in the street, so not only is it the human thing to protect these lives, itâs the cheaper option.
the queen could literally intervene and stop british children from being so malnourished that there has been a widespread return of rickets in the country but she wonât. kate and baldy could do something about this instead of going to various ex-colonies of britain and lecturing locals about the dangers of having too many children whilst they are expecting their third inbred freeloader but they wonât. megan markle and ginger are going on a ÂŁ120,000 honeymoon. whilst children forced into poverty by the tories fill their pockets with food at school just to get through the weekend. the lifestyle and entitlement of the royal family remains absolutely and completely morally indefensible.
Every time a rich person does one good thing, out of all exploiting mass poverty and starvation, people will say âsee, billionaires are generous sometimesâ as if we should be relying on random acts of kindness for a fucking decent life like some sort of lottery. And whatâs more, these random acts of kindness could feed the entire world several times over, but the ruling class knows without a desperate workforce begging for scraps theyâd be out of business.
I will never praise Elon Musk or anyone else so long as there is manufactured suffering left untouched by the wealthy for 100s of years.

itâs getting weird knowing natural apocalypse from climate change is bearing down on us all and still going about mundane daily life kinda like
We should have universal healthcare and universal basic income. We can fund it by taxing rich people.
But taxation is theft, you say? Fine. Make it voluntary. Businesses can opt out of paying taxes. If they donât want government involved in their business, then government wonât be involved.
But that means no government involvement at all, even when it benefits them. That means no patents, trademarks, or copyrights, since those wouldnât exist without government. They want a free market? Then they can compete with someone else stealing their customers by selling their products at a lower price.
If a company loses money, theyâll foot the bill for once and not us. No government bailouts when they intentionally make dumbass business decisions.
They want government subsidies for not paying their workers enough? Too fucking bad, Wal-Mart, youâre not getting special treatment for being shitty employers anymore.
Oil/gas/coal companies want to keep people from using their own solar panels and wind generators? Go to hell, you donât get to write the laws anymore.
Also no taxes, no special labels. So if you want to label your product âmade in Americaâ, but donât pay your taxes, too bad. Want to use government certifications? You better pay those taxes. FDA approval? Better be paying those taxes. Run out of money? Too bad you didnât pay your taxes, cause you canât file for bankruptcy.
No no no, itâs not just that
You wanna deliver your goods? Tax money paved those roads. You want electricity? Too bad, govt-run power grid.
Holy shit, this is getting better each time.
This is why the whole âtaxation is theftâ idea doesnât work. At their core, businesses exist to make money. Money that is created and given value by the government. If your business doesnât want to pay taxes to ensure the continued operation of the government, then what right does it have to use its currency? Your money has no value outside of the value assigned to it by the government, so you canât lay claim to any value you supposedly have before paying your dues to the organization that gives your paper slips meaning.
