Biting is like kissing, only there's a winner

Steven Moffat: If the Ponds departure doesn't make you openly weep, I haven't done my job.

Ok, so this entire day was probably the most exhausting and most rewarding of all time. To honor Steven Moffat's (as well as the cast's) wishes, I will not reveal spoilers as to the episode or the Q and A afterwards. 

I live in Upstate NY, so getting to NYC in the cheapest way possible meant having to leave my house at 7am, drive 3 hours to the Hudson Valley to take a commuter train into Grand central Station (which is gorgeous by the way).

From there, we (my whovian mother and I), walked about a mile and a half to the theater. We arrived there at almost exactly 1pm (the time the theater's website said that the line would be forming) and found this:   ...so much for 1pm. ANYWHO, after standing in a line for 3 hours in what felt like a sauna, they let us in. We charged to our seats, which weren't terrible, and waiting another 2 hours for the show to begin.   (at least they had cool stuff playing on the screen)

While waiting, I checked my Twitter feed and was disappointed to find that after ticket holders were let into the theater, the Dr. Who crew arrived in a couple of Deloreans and signed autographs with the crowd across the street from the theater... not too happy about missing that, but oh well. 

Finally, after a few BBC America promos, Chris Hardwick appears and revs us all up for the episode. When Matt and Karen entered the theater to introduce the episode, the crowd just about exploded in excitement. 

Episode starts, awesome stuff happens, episode ends, we all go nuts.

Chirs and the crew come back to the front of the theater for the Q&A, and more awesome stuff happens.  

We sat right next to one of the microphones for people to ask the cast questions:

 I almost died. This was probably the coolest thing I've ever done. 

  After a long and agonizing journey back home, I collapsed into bed at 3am and woke up at 8am to go to work...yikes. Still the best trip though. Bravo, BBC America.

I became a fan of Dr. Who in May 2011, when BBC America was doing a marathon of the 5th season during Memorial Weekend. My mom was actually watching it in her room while cleaning and, having just gotten up out of bed, walked in her room to see what she was doing.

My parents are total nerds, and I constantly mock them for it, so when I saw my mom watching another sci-fi show (The Hungry Earth from the 5th season), I wrote it off and just mocked my mom some more.

All day long, my mom insisted on watching the marathon because it was her first time watching it, and she was very involved, while I ignored the TV and went about my business. WELL, after hours of the show running in the house, and my catching random scenes and the like, I started to get interested (but wouldn't admit it). My mom had to run to the store, and when she left, I sat in front of the TV and watched a few episodes. I was hooked. Netflix took care of me catching up on the whole series. 

After a couple of weeks I finally admitted to my mom that I, too, was a nerd. She mocked me.
