starco + buddy/dude/man is probably one of my favorite things ever

and it's such a good detail for several reasons.

from what we can see, none of the others are touching each other, and, you'd think if any of them were to be touching, it'd be any pair of mother and daughter - or even just two that knew each other. now, there's nothing to definitively say that jushtin never knew festivia, but it doesn't really add up to me because he would have been the one "family member" she would have had, but she only mentions being raised by the high commission - who also ruled until festivia was of age, and you'd think that those duties, and maybe even the wand, would've fallen to jushtin in the meantime had he still been alive. (and considering he was at least 14 years older than solaria, who was killed when eclipsa was over 17, it could make sense that he would die of old age by then.)

but anyway, it's so interesting to me that these two are so close because it feels very intentional - the misfit and the first of the fraudulent bloodline. i like how it kinda implies that, even though in whatever afterlife they're coming from they probably know the truth about the family tree, there's no bad blood. er uh no bad ectoplasm; the three true butterflies don't see their successors as others or less than.
