Me ending up in a relationship with the boy was a shock and a half, considering that damn near every other date Iāve been on with men has been disastrous thanks to their fuckboyery, while Iāve been on dozens of dates with women and all were lovely. Me: Iāve always wanted to see Cameroon or Ghana.
Him: Yeahā¦no Africa for me, I have zero desire to go there.
Me: (eyes slowly narrowing)
Him: (blathers on, completely oblivious to the massive red flag heās about to thrust in my face) Iād love to see Germany or Norway.
Me: (nearly squinting now) Well, that sounds nice.
Him: āCause, you know, those places are clean. The people are clean and thereās no crime.
Me: Which you seem to be suggesting is not the case in Africa? Which is a massive continent full of thousands of different places, cultures, people, cities, societies, etc? And not just one enormous black hive mind of crime, poverty and filth?
Him: (rolls eyes) Come on, you know what I mean. People try to escape Africa, not vacation there.
Me: You know Iām black, right? My father was west African. Not like 1/20th either, he was full-blooded.
Him: Yeah, but youāre so pale. Youāre not like, BLACK.
