Ya know what, I’m calling these out
So far I’ve ignored this trash because they’re not deserving of a direct response from my bisexualtastic self, and their shallow words don’t bother me one bit lol :) However, I have noted that many of my bisexual moots and followers, frequently also receive biphobia like this. And, without directly engaging, I’m gonna debunk this stupidity, and encourage others to continue on with their bisexual pride 🩷💜💙
So let’s debunk it first and foremost, if any other bi’s have also had that nastiness hurled at them:
bi women / bi sapphics can be butchfemme
bisexuals / biromantics can reclaim faggot, and bi women / bi sapphics can reclaim dyke, (includes insight from a certified language philosopher specializing in studies on slur reclamation)
bi women / bi sapphics reclaiming dyke does not hurt anyone, written by a lesbian blogger
Poison Ivy is bisexual, not lesbian (but batwoman, the iconiccc dc hero, is lesbian!)
“eeyyuck this is why we don’t like bi women” and “y’all are ignorant” and “your community is blah blah blah” is hate speech towards bisexuals as a whole, it’s one thing to direct stupidity towards me specifically but this is precise biphobia. And I want others to know, you can just block and report this trash that comes your way. You are not cowardly, you are not required to have a conversation with them directly, blocking is not some hostile action but rather just cleansing your account, and you may protect your own peace.
Bisexuals, you are not any less queer. If I have a strawberry milkshake, AND a cherry milkshake, I do not have any less milkshake. I am not a fake milkshake drinker. I have two glasses in front of me!! And alllll the milkshakes are deliciousss, the strawberry and cherry and everything in between. YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR SAME AND SIMILAR GENDER ATTRACTION… ANDDDD MORE! That’s what it means to be bisexual!! You are so beyond being queer enough, you should stop needing to remind yourself that. Are bisexuals really just queer enough? We are more! We are all MAGICALLY queer, SPECTACULARLY queer, WONDERFULLY queer. The days of trying to say you’re queer enough are over! You need to celebrate yourself, be enthusiastic for yourself, and be proud of your bisexual legendary self!! And if you’re not hey, that’s okay, change doesn’t happen overnight! I will be waiting patiently with open arms, whenever you have come to love your bisexual self! No rush darlings! And read this over and over again however many times you need to! Also check out the bisexual mental health carrd I made a while back, if it helps at all!
My bisexuality is an important part of me, and because I have endured biphobia, sapphicphobia specifically too, and am knowledgeable on queer history, identities, and activism, I’m also a bi dyke and a bi femme. Do you think I’ve ever lied awake and thought, “oh but @ loserontumblr3000 said that I can’t be femme and reclaim dyke, nvm then, I’m actlly ashamed of myself, time to change my url from @bi-dykes to @ bi-apologetic!” Pfffft, not a chance. And I want y’all to feel confident in your bisexual selves too!
These biphobic haters are just cowards. First and foremost, I love lesbians so much, and I love gay men too *sigh* other than the misogynistic cis ones, who can fuck off of course, and biphobic gay men and biphobic lesbians are making a mockery of the solidarity the rest of us in the LGBTQ do have! The biggest danger to me is cishet queerphobes. I truly do not want to also encounter biphobia from my fellow queers.
Did you know that Barbie is bi? A lot of people don’t. She loved Aimee and Ken, canonically. Anyways, from the doll herself, there is a great movie, Barbie: Princess Charm School. While the Barbie movies don’t blatantly show her sapphicism, she is a bi character outside of this movie. There is an amazing motto in this movie: “nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.” This goes beyond “I won’t let you get under my skin!!1!”, it’s more, “you do not have my permissions to make me feel bad about myself, because I am in control about that.” Remember that. Watch it for free if you want to to!
Everything I’ve typed goes especially to trans bisexuals, bisexuals of colour, disabled bisexuals, bisexual arospec and aspecs!! Love y’all!
I deleted anon on my blog due to a traumatic and illegal anon ask I recently got (it’s not bisexual related… and I discuss the situation on the bottom of my pinned post if ur curious) and I see these hateful asks and comments pulling up with stupid blank blogs with default square and triangle icons, now that they can’t use anon anymore. They gotta stop kidding themselves. They’re hiding behind a burner account because deep down, they know they’re wrong. Bisexuals built butchfemme culture, queer activism, slur reclamation, queer love, joy, hope, alongside monosexual queers. It’s our right!
And I’ll still an annoying, obnoxious, loud, proud, BISEXUAL FEMME DYKE!! Cishets, and biphobic monosexual queers, beware! <3
Happy Pride Month! Remember all this advice, and please keep loving your bisexual self!
