I was peckish...

Announcing the next big event from GO-Events, the GO Book Fest. Sign-ups will begin here on December 3, 2020, at 12pm EST. 

Deets For this fest, you can claim a published work of the written word (in any language, and any genre) and use that as inspiration to create a new Good Omens work. AU and canon works are both fine for this event. Your book does not have to be fiction, or prose even, it just has to have been published in book form. (So, published plays are fine, books of poetry, non-fiction, etc.) It would be rad if you would stick to works that are primarily known as published, written word and not novelizations of works in other forms of art. (With the exception of stage plays that are often read in written form, such as the works of Shakespeare.)

The Fine Print A word about uniqueness of assignments: Because of the difficulty of choosing a sign-up time that isn’t massively inconvenient for some group of people in our international fandom, I prefer to make assignments non-unique by default and not based on how quickly you can fill out a form. 

So, you will be asked for a first, second, and third choice on the sign-up form. In addition, you will be asked the following assignment preference question: 

If another person signs up and requests the same book as my first (or possibly second) choice, I would prefer to:

Switch to my next choice that isn't also chosen by another person

Share the assignment with the other creator(s) (and create separate works)

I would prefer not to participate if I couldn't have my first choice and have it be unique to my work

As you can see, the default would be that you would sacrifice your first or possibly second choice to have a book unique to your work, regardless of how early you sign up. This seems to be the fairest to me, and was voted more fair than the alternative in a poll I ran on the GO-Events discord, so this is what we’re going with for this one.

One Step at a Time, a new GO POV Pairs work written by @soapasaurus and @bisasterdi.

Summary: Now that they’ve heroically saved the world from the machinations of heaven and hell, what are a retired angel and demon to do? Aziraphale and Crowley come to realize that the world they love is still very much under siege—but should they get involved in sorting out humanity’s problems? And if they did, what do two supernatural beings know about fighting social injustice, climate change, and other destructive forces that make it seem like the real apocalypse is just around the corner? Some things are too big to simply “miracle” better, and the road ahead seems unimaginably long. But as humans have always known, all journeys start one step at a time, and a friend walking beside you makes all the difference.

@soapasaurus is writing Crowley POV, @bisasterdi is writing Aziraphale POV, and everything else is a shared effort between the two of us. The work is a mixture of epistolary and regular prose, and we'll be exploring what an angel and a demon might be able to help with now that they're permanent Earth residents.

Posted as a part of the @go-events Good AUmens AU Fest, I’m pleased to announce that my Pet Shop AU, Fur Get Me Not, is now available to read on AO3. The story is complete and can be read in its entirety.

Summary: Crowley's been doing just fine since he left London for a slower and quieter life in the country. He's the owner of a pet shop in a small village, spending his days in the shop helping people and their pets and his evenings...well, his evenings are quiet. It's all fine until the day Adam Young bursts through the door to his shop, his Godfather Aziraphale struggling to keep up. Up until the day he first met Aziraphale, Crowley thought he'd live out the rest of his days in solitude. Now? He's not so sure that's what he wants anymore.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be posting a pet shop AU on June 5th as a part of the Good AUmens AU Fest! Crowley is the owner of a pet shop in an English village in the countryside, and Aziraphale is Adam Young’s godfather who brings Adam into the shop to adopt a cat. (Hijinx ensue.) Here is a short preview!

"Adam, dear, you really do need to pay more attention," the uncle said, and Crowley had somehow expected him to be annoyed or angry. He'd seen a lot of that, parents snapping at their kids when they made innocent mistakes, but this was different. The man's voice was gentle, almost soothing, as he corrected Adam, and Adam nodded solemnly up at him before engrossing himself with feline antics again.

"They're all brilliant. No idea how I'll pick just one." Adam's fingers curled around the wire separating him from the cats, chewing on his bottom lip.

"I'm afraid your parents were quite clear on that point. One cat and only one cat." The man looked at Crowley for the first time, a beatific smile spreading over his features and practically lighting him up from the inside. "I do appreciate the assist. I have rather a difficult time keeping up with this young man."

"I think there are track stars who would have the same trouble, so no shame there," Crowley said, smiling down at Adam before looking back up at his uncle, only to be hit full in the face with the particular gentle grace the man had about him. "I'm Crowley, the owner of the store," Crowley's voice supplied, while the rest of him was busy being knocked over backward by how immediately he was drawn to this man he'd seen for the first time only moments ago. The twenty year-old Crowley who was burrowed somewhere deep within his older counterpart was screaming something like, 'What d'you say the two of us get out of here and get a drink,' but the wisdom that had come with age allowed him to keep a lid on it.

Ghostwriter, rated E

Summary: With the ghostwriting job that pays his bills on the line, struggling author Aziraphale is given one last assignment to prove himself: Write a tell-all 'autobiography' of notorious playboy Anthony J. Crowley. They certainly don't get off to a great start, but with Aziraphale's job and Crowley's only form of financial support on the line, they'll both have to hang in there long enough to finish the book.

If Crowley's family--notorious in the seedy underbelly of organized crime--and the law enforcement investigating them don't get in the way, then the very real feelings that spark between them will.

A Good Omens Holiday Swap pinch hit for @forlorn-kumquat

@forlorn-kumquat​, I’m terribly sorry about the wait, but here is your pinch hit gift! I brainstormed ideas with my excellent beta, @soapasaurus​, for all three of your prompts. In the end, we both decided that the idea of having Crowley and Aziraphale help Newt and Anathema with house/flat hunting and keeping it canon compliant was just too funny to pass up. (I had to adjust the prompt a little to fit it into canon, I hope that’s okay!)

There’s No Place Like Home, Rated T

When Anathema and a soaking wet Newt show up on Aziraphale's doorstep one night, one angel and one demon appoint themselves the young couple's flat hunting consultants. Who better to assist than two immortal beings who have spent centuries around London, after all? They won't stop until a suitable living space is found, no matter the obstacles. (And if Aziraphale realizes a few things about himself along the way, well, that's just gravy, isn't it?)
