You had met him in the 7-11 outside of your building .
Eyes meeting ,a greeting smile met with a quick nod
His greenish blue eyes would find yours
Eventually you introduced yourself
You spent the nights on the roof tops stargazing
He would bring a a new book every once in awhile and you would bring him the latest gossip from the cafe you worked at
You didn’t know what you were
Dating ? Friends? Or something else ?
And just like his name your eventually learned of his nightly activities
And somehow it didn’t change much
You knew you couldn’t drag him away from that life and he knew you wouldn’t try to
So you spent the nights stargazing
And you would talk ,about anything really
And his eyes were pure adoration
He was admiring you as if you belonged among the stars above you
Buts something was different you had this itch
One that needed to know what you were to him
So you gathered your courage for the first time you felt yourself afraid to meet his eyes
Well you would’ve been except
His name would ghost over your lips every once in awhile
You would sit on the roof top waiting for him come back ,hoping he was at least looking at the same sky as you
So you graduated ,found a corporate job ,met someone new
His eyes weren’t blue though
He was nice enough both of you marrying out of convenience more than anything
Sometimes you thought you saw a flash of his hair
Or even a glimpse of those blue eyes you longed for
And those stars oh the stars you used to watch together
But now when you reach for his hand it’s not there
You want to beg and scream and ask him where he went ,why he left
It’s as if he’s still with you your bookshelf is now full of books the ones he gave you
There are flowers pressed in between the pages
Maybe one day you’ll meet again
Gotham was colder without him
And maybe he was watching maybe he saw you with a man who didn’t fully love you
