If one more senior faculty, undergrad student, graduate student, research assistant, cashier, person, comments on my “youth” or appearance this week I will throttle someone.
PSA: DO NOT make comments about your professor’s appearance or act shocked when someone tells you what they do because they “look so young.” Just stop. Hold it inside. Talk with your friends about it later if you must.
I've had this happen to me so many times because I'm in my early thirties but could pass as 25. The worst example was when I went on a job interview for a faculty position, one of the professors I interviewed with was asking me strange questions and I literally had to correct him that I was interviewing for a faculty position, not as a student for the graduate program. He acted in surprise and said I looked too young to be a faculty member, which was doubly insulting because it not only indicated stereotyping but that he hadn't even read my materials prior to the interview and had no idea who he would be talking to.
