1, Its a lamp 2, 3D pen 3, Not a lamp anymore 4, The pen disapeared 5, Room 107 6, Dead meme I chose these photos because they all play with our perspectives but in different ways.
This is a picture of a resort center named “Emeralda” situated in Ninh Binh, Viet Nam. The building in the middle of the frame seems to be the center of attention, wrapped by many other points of interest. Most noticeable are the people riding bikes. They are classmates enjoying a vacation together. The green rows of trees on both sides and the pond in front of the building provoke a deep sense of relaxation and peace. The lone-standing vase in the middle of the pond brilliantly stresses on that peace. However, the exaggerated clouds and a dim glare from the sun down across the frame suggests a grandeur that somehow conflicts with the peace in the scene.
My prior knowledge and, more importantly, participation are crucial in my perception of this picture. Without actually being there, I would never have known that the building was a resort rather than a temple and that the people in the frame are classmates on a vacation. For most people, this is only a snapshot of whatever. But for me, there is definitely truth in this picture. I can feel, or rather, remember, the sense of joy, relaxation, peace and also the grandeur. At the end of the day, it is THAT truth that incited me to press the shutter button and now I get to experience it by only looking at a picture.
