Bridgerton Season 4-Necklace
Ok, if the necklace--a very simple, elegant piece compared to what other women in the ton wear--that Sophie wears during the masquerade, and clearly at other times too, isn't a part of the reveal, I would be shocked.
If they gloss over it and it's a consistent piece she wears, our dear Benedict is a dumbass.
Since Netflix is removing She-Ra in January or something here’s a link to a Google drive with all five seasons <3
Since it's less than two weeks before SPoP is removed from Netflix, I just wanted to reblog this again for visibility and to make sure more people can watch it.

AGAIN! There are so many details in this film that warrant a rewatch! The quick flash of their demon eyes is so cool and adds to how unsettling this shot is! They also don't start yellow and turn brown; it's a full, extremely quick flash that the animators added!
Noticed when slowing the film down to get this reaction from Mira

I love Bobby from Kpop Demon Hunters, posted this elsewhere, but look at his badge and cell phone case!
He is such a fan, and it's adorable.
why would you do this to me
I think we need to appreciate this part of Brennan Lee Mulligan's WIRED interview a lot more:
"The evangelical right in this country needs to manufacture outrage to hold onto its voting block. [The satanic panic about DnD] was arbitrary, as the targets of their outrage always are. Fight the power."
FOUND BETTER SCREENSHOTS** IN KPOP DEMON HUNTERS (spoilers, I guess!): they had a fan wear a Gwi-Ma/GWIMA Metallica shirt! I love all the fun details!
This is just before "Your Idol"
Lowkey, I want one of these fan shirts they designed
KPOP DEMON HUNTERS (ramble)
As a metaphor for the current political climate…one that teaches that certain people are wrong for just being who they are and that they need to stay hidden and do their duty (be “good”), and where even those on their side tell them to stay quiet and cover up, lie even, to uphold a system that “works” but clearly doesn’t and is failing and coming apart at the seams because of that same repression and desire to “fix everything first” before we make any major changes to the world and let people just be people and a new generation saying “screw that I am who I am, this system sucks, and I’m creating something new” anyway…
So, like, yeah I enjoyed the movie.
(I have criticism of it too, mostly that it was too short, but I sure hope it gets a sequel (if the creators want that!))

Forgive me if it’s not my place to bring up, but I can’t stop thinking about this season’s treatment of brown women. Cause like Belinda gets almost zero development or agency the whole season and mostly exists to react to things, while Ruby does the plot relevant stuff like meeting Conrad.
Then in Conrad’s World Belinda has to be the housewife character who betrays the Doctor, while Ruby gets to remember the old world and do MORE plot relevant stuff. THEN after they have their memories back Belinda gets actually physically shoved in a box while, again, Ruby meets with Conrad and helps save the world and ends up being the only one to remember Poppy. And ALSO Panjabi!Rani, who gets far less screen time and build up compared to Mrs. Flood, monologues for a bit before meeting a brutal and undignified death. While Mrs. Flood just gets to escape unscathed. What the hell was the point.
THEN!! Because we’re still going!! Belinda is just forced into a motherly role that was never hinted at, and the doctor leaves her behind. And most of the focus on HER motherhood revolves around her child and the fact that the Doctor is sad he isn’t a dad. No space for her to really process what’s been done to her beyond like, one line.
Just. I feel so bad for Belinda’s character. No allowance for growth or agency, no real consideration for her emotions beyond a sudden and unexplained desire for motherhood (shoving specifically a brown woman into a motherly role once the plot no longer requires her), just using brown women when it’s convenient and throwing them out when they’re done. AND the Omega plotline was stupid.
In sum: RTD WHAT is your damage!!!!!!
This entire era was just rtd doing nostalgia bait for his previous era without actually bothering with a proper plot. Bringing back legacy characters can absolutely be done well and has been in the past, but here is really just felt like it was overshadowing the doctor. And I’m sure 15 will get overshadowed by a lot of fans because rtd had tennant before him and Billie piper after him. Both are good actors who played well liked characters, but they aren’t the entire show, they are not more important to doctor who canon than everyone else. Can’t we just take the time to appreciate a new actor who was delightful in the role of the doctor
Not to mention the racism of it all, rtd has a track record of sidelining his characters of color, and unsurprisingly he did it this time too. Ncuti was the first black doctor and him and Belinda were the first fully nonwhite tardis team, and yet we had so many doctor lite stories and Belinda’s characterization was basically forgotten in favor of focusing on the white companion from last season
Also, the fact that Poppy wasn't a Time Lord at the end makes the entire first part of the episode sort of useless imo??
Let's bring up the extinction of the Time Lords and now eugenics low-key ("lost the room" ?) despite this not being the focus at all beforehand or in any way mentioned as the reasoning for the Rani bringing the Omega back (like no thematic reasoning??)--and then suddenly be extremely pro-life/forced birth (and motherhood) ALL despite the episode when the actress who plays Poppy was introduced being a criticism of those who are pro-life/forced birth not caring for what actually happens to children??
Going from an episode about a huge, powerful being returning, the essential creator of the Time Lords, to "but genetics and motherhood and babies and I can't be a parent" despite the Doctor BEING A GRANDFATHER AND PARENT IN THE PAST??
Like... RTD, make this ENTIRE EPISODE make sense??
The writing was trying to spell everything out for you in a very "show, don't tell" manner, and STILL it made no sense.
I can excuse a lot when it comes to Doctor Who. But jesus christ, what was that?!? You have the incredible Ncuti Gatwa right there, and you just waste it???? I'm genuinely just so incredibly sad over this. I absolutely ADORE Ncuti Gatwa in this role, but my god, this writing is just...so bad. He didn't even get to face a dalek, cybermen, or the master!!! What is this!! All the incredible stories you could've written, but instead, you do this. You have your first black and very openly queer doctor right there, and you do nothing with it. The stories we could've gotten!!! The potential!!! I'm so SAD.
This show really needs to step away from Disney and start completely fresh. RTD needs to step down and give room for someone else. Someone with new, fun ideas that don't involve any kind of nostalgia bait. We need another fresh face as the Doctor, new writers, and a whole new team in general. I didn't mind the whole bigeneration and loved the specials with David Tennant, but having Ncuti Gatwa sandwiched between both David Tennant and now Billie Piper just feels incredibly rude to me. He's completely overshadowed when he's literally such an incredible Doctor.
I know that most of this mess is likely due to issues behind the scenes. The ratings were incredibly low, and disney didn't want to renew, so Ncuti Gatwa didn't want to be stuck in a limbo and potentially say no to bigger opportunities simply because he had to be the Doctor. And I totally understand him, I would've done the same. But all this could've been avoided if they simply just wrote better episodes from the beginning. They promised these seasons would be a fresh start, something easy to get into as a new fan, and that simply just wasn't the case at all. RTD is way too stuck in the past and way too focused on all these grand, big reveals that no one actually cared about, and that didn't even get resolved in the end. All we wanted were some fun, silly adventures with the Doctor and his companions. We didn't need the Disney budget and all these big villains. All we need is some fun characters with great chemistry. Throw some Daleks and some more silly aliens in there, and we're good. Why give us Sutekh, the Rani, and Omega in there all at once when you don't even have a solid script to justify it?? Just go with the classics and actually make it easier for new viewers like you promised! It's just all incredibly sad to me. So much wasted potential. I was so hopeful when Ncuti Gatwa was announced, and I'm so disappointed that this is how his run ends. He deserved so much more. I hope he knows how beloved he is in this role and I do hope we see him again in some way once this mess is resolved.
I'm just gonna say this...
The Doctor Who writers/showrunners, RTD, Moffat, and Chibnall, do not know how to write for non-male, non-white Doctors/cast, and it really, really shows.
The two of them, Jodie Whittaker and Ncuti Gatwa, got fucked over in different ways by them and it sucks. Gatwa more so which does not surprise me, and that sucks even more.
Doctor Who needs a REAL restart.
Also, I love both of these actors, and I think they both made incredible Doctors, but their creative teams did not do them justice, despite their stand-out moments.
And I think Gatwa was smart to get out when he did, and I respect him for it.

Okay, one more thing for the Bridgerton Over-Analysis corner But Lady Araminta Gun and her daughters'--Rosamund & Posy Li--masks are very interesting.
Rosamund (left) and Lady Araminta (middle) are both holding masks that are easily removable, while Posy (right) has one that is tied to her face.
We know this costume department goes hard on metaphor.
According to Netflix's description of the three women, this makes a lot of sense:
At a masquerade, choosing whether to attempt to stay hidden or to more easily reveal oneself, for whatever reason, says a lot about one's character and particularly one's motivations.
Someone eager to please her mother and someone also stated to be vain and beautiful, would not need nor want to hide behind a mask. It would be more of a tool rather than a shield--compared to someone who rarely has the spotlight and who tends to put her foot in her mouth.
I feel like you could go off speculating on these too, also on the choices of costume between the two sisters, and their mother. Especially with Rosamund wearing a Georgian-style dress adorned with many jewels (like Queen Charlotte wears--whom she might be attempting to catch the attention of to secure a position as "diamond of the season") vs. her sister wearing a more Regency/current era look that is less embellished.
OKAY, I am actually really excited for this season, also to revisit past seasons just for posts like this for fun.
Bye again!
EDIT 1:
OKAY REALIZED MORE
Lady Araminta's mask is literally a black veil with a black outline of a mask in it.
Especially in conjunction with the black outfit, she is clearly in mourning. Her mask is an actual black veil/ribbon.
Just the fact that at a MASQUERADE, where you are invited/encouraged (literally the whole POINT is) to hide who you are and are meant to give in to fantasy/escape reality via this invitation/encouragement, she is still dressed in mourning clothes that barely hide who she is. If anything they draw attention to her.
A few things one could take from this: she doesn't feel the need to nor wants to hide, she wants to draw attention to herself, and/or this is her mask already
I'm excited
TLDR: Bridgerton costume department needs a raise
HELLO, welcome back to the Bridgerton Over-Analysis corner.
It has been too long, fellow members of the Ton.
This is a quick one, but I just wanted to point this out about the new sneak peek because I do not have the time right now to do an in-depth analysis. (Hopefully at another time) BUT They had FRANCESCA as the very first shot of the sneak peek.
She is the first Bridgerton to show up in the sneak peek, and they even have a shot of John Stirling before they show any of the other Bridgertons.
He even is the one who holds up the 4 fingers for Season 4--like they have done in past promos.
The two of them later do the same sitting together in the montage in the latter half of the sneak peek.
Sure, this could have just been a promo they shot quickly while on set for the masquerade scenes and it was the footage that they already had and someone said "Let's just use this!" Sure, if this was a separate shoot, they could have chosen them because other actors were busy or getting ready for the Season of Love events. But think: if they have already done a shoot with these two or took the time on set with them over everyone that means something.
EVERYTHING IS A CHOICE
They want us to be thinking of them.
OK, I'm done, thank you, until next time.
