in re conversations that thankfully seem to be occurring only on other sites, i actually love when the fiction i'm reading uses words i don't know and have to look up! admittedly it does not happen often, because i am an adult who read a lot as a kid and has since done what is frankly maybe a bit too much education, but please do casually drop words like phalanstery in your book so i have to look it up and then find myself reading wikipedia pages about 19th century socialist utopianism! please do throw around rare plants and birds whose names i don't know because they're not native/common anywhere i've ever been! then i get to look at pictures of things that i've never seen before!

i’ve been withholding my personality from my colleagues for months now because i’m very different from them and i thought my peculiar way of…being…and off-putting hobbies would be met with disgust but i invited them over last week and now they are all excitedly bringing me bones and trinkets and even the fresh roadkill (!!!) they find and think my curiosities collection is the coolest thing ever. the moral here is if you give people the chance to see you they might actually love you.

sure cgi is a useful skill but ultimately it was meant to be an enhancement for existing foundation within film. it wasn’t meant to be a replacement for hundreds of skilled artisans. if the whole city is cgi, if the clothes are cgi, if the hair is cgi, if the walls are cgi, where is the line where it stops being live action? it’s just hyper realistic uncanny valley animation. it ages worse, it makes people feel like the world is fake and unable to suspend their disbelief, when overused it feels soulless. it was meant to add magic to movies and instead corporations decided it was cheaper and faster to exploit workers and make everything computer generated instead of REAL
