In Defense of Echo and Becho

The 100 is a show riddled with betrayals and deaths, and with that territory comes a litany of problematic characters and imperfect relationships. Bellamy Blake of Skaikru and Echo of the Ice Nation (a.k.a. Azgeda) are no exception. They are two of the more morally grey characters on The 100, in my opinion. Both of them have done some awful things, but each has also shown a compassionate side and a protective streak for those they care about. I’ll say this up front: I don’t consider either of them to be especially good people. But they are people. Humans. And the humanity they have both shown has made them more palatable to me, as well as more interesting.

My feelings about Bellamy in particular are extremely mixed, including who I ship him with. I once shipped him with Raven (and still kind of do, though she’s a cinnamon roll who’s much too good for him), and I see the appeal of Bellarke. But ever since Echo showed up, I’ve been unable to ship Bellamy seriously with anyone else.

You know I feel bad for Echo, she’s been shaped by her harsh environment and an even harsher ruthless queen. It really doesn’t surprise me how she acts because that's what she was trained for and always expected to do. So she can’t be expected to change over a couple of weeks just like that to Roans way of thinking.

Also in my opinion what she has done is no worse than what Clarke has done or is doing. Everybody has their reasons for doing things and the most popular reason on this show is “for my people” or in Clarkes world “because I have no choice”...

Everyone has a choice,you only have to look at Octavia for that. She won but she chose equality and unity. True it’s a harsh reality their facing and people do crazy stuff in those situations but at the end of the day they are all people and not any one of the deserves to survive anymore than the other.

Echo does what she thinks right, just like Clarke, and is loyal,unlike Clarke. So in my opinion Clarke and Echo are similar. Both are willing to do the worst possible thing for their people, even if that means cheating.I mean at least Echo didn’t betray her own “clan”. Sure she’s tried to kill all of them probably at least once but Clarke locked Kane and Octavia and god knows who else out of the bunker and condemned them to die. Octavia was fighting to the death for Skaikru!! I’m looking forward to Echo’s interactions with people now she’s basically alone and no longer has a royal to protect.Maybe this will be the turning point for her.

I love Echo,she’s awesome and a badass.

Becho/Ship Hate

Reading some of the comments to Tasya about Becho! You guys seriously have no chill Show some respect to Tas and those whom ship Becho. You think that you’ll get what you want by bringing down other Bellamy/Clarke pairings. You are wrong,you are more likely to cause the opposite. Rude and mean people very rarely get given what they want.Plus Tas is a lovely woman who tries her best to intact with her fans. Not to mention she is a talented actress who has made Echo into an amazing character. Some may hate her but she is beautiful and badass, shaped by the world and people around her.My personal favourite character!

Clarke and Bellamy have both done terrible things over the course of the show, just like nearly every character. It’s the world they live in. People should be entitled to ship whomever they wish without getting disrespectful comments from members of the other ships. That’s whether you ship: Clexa,Nylarke,Bellarke, Braven, Bellarke, Cloan/Rarke or whatever other ships are out there.

An important message though is absolutely DO NOT berate or send hate/disrespectful messages to the cast.crew because you don’t like something. Remember the cast DO NOT WRITE THE SCRIPT!! Bob has already tweeted about it, that should have been warning enough. He has noticed so likely so has the rest of the cast. You’ll screw yourselves over because they can easily stop using social media,just like Alycia has.

Those who agree should maybe share/like this to show support and spread the love to Tasya and all the The 100 cast/fandom. To show we support other’s in their ships even though we,ourselves,do not ship it!

Echo cares. You can see that. You can see the sadness and shock on her face seeing what she did. (okay, let’s be honest, Echo’s leg was injured and Octavia kinda semi-skewered herself on Echo’s sword…Echo was pretty shocked it happened.). Also, Echo didn’t have to say “yu gonplei este odon” to Octavia, which is honoring her death btw. Echo cares. And you could see that in the end scene too with Bellamy. She cares, but has lived in a world in which it is forced out of them…seen as weakness. Echo grew up Azgeda and suffered even more cruelty and was exposed and made to do worse things than any other “warrior” on the show. However, you saw in s2 her heart and you can still see it slipping through in these moments as she tries to put her Ruthless Azegeda facade back on.

Echo is a complex and layered character. I love her character development and lesbihonest, she is beautiful!! She’s badass, ruthless but obviously cares. I hope we get to see her vulnerable caring side before she ultimately dies.I hope she survives so bad though!!! Tasya has done such an amazing job with her,how have we only come to know about her now!! haha

Octavia

Octavia’s methods may be extreme and yes she has gone rogue this season, but damn girl gets things done man! In the world she lives and the things she’s been through, can you really blame her?

Am I the only one who loves Echo?!

I mean she’s beautiful and a badass! Yeah she’s done some bad things but all of them have “for my people”. Same line they all use so I don’t get why people dislike her due to her betrayal because that seems like that’s all anyone does on The 100!

I’m looking forward to her character development and how she affects the people and relationships around her. She’s very intimidating in both skill and beauty!

I very much hope she survives this season....
