anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

Fandom is a party, not a market.
every time i comment on an ao3 fic i'm pretty sure it's incomprehensible gibberish. but if i can bring joy to one (1) author's day or make even just one author feel inspired, i am happy.

If you take the time to leave comments on every single chapter of a multi-chapter fic, I can guarantee you that there's at least one author out there who thinks you are the greatest person in the history of people.
I am a PASSIONATE commenter on fanfiction, but sometimes it slows down my reading because I don't want to read if I don't have the mental energy to leave the long comments I want to
Still, as an author, I know even a short note can mean the world.
So, I put together a little guide with different ālevelsā of comments, so itās easier to leave something without overthinking!
Hopefully this helps someone else too!
for maximum impact with minimum effort can I strongly recommend the quick highlight?
copy pasting a particular line and your reaction to it is a phenomenal way to quickly provide specific, unique feedback!
it can even just be a keysmash or an emoji response to the quoted bit
authors have SO many micro decisions and careful word choices that go into the writing process and that they'll almost never get to see a specific reaction to
it's so fun to get even one of these things highlighted

this, yes, precisely
PSA to fic readers, it is so hard to freak a fic writer out with your comments. we are just as crazy about the fic as you are.
tell me you love it. tell me it made you slam your laptop shut. tell me you brought it up at your college lecture about kink. key smash in all caps. quote the passage that made you think. i promise, weāll love it.
we spend hours thinking about it, writing it, editing it. there is no such thing as over enthusiasm when youāre talking about our fics to us. we are sooooo weird about them, i assure you. you are just matching my freak. the freak bar is already set so high. feel no anxiety about enjoying something and letting the creator know.
Hello folks! Iām so glad to see that yāall are excited about the event š Itās come to my attention that there were some errors on a couple of boards, such as typos or repeated prompts! Iāve fixed the ones Iāve found and updated them in the drive folder, but if you receive a board with repeated prompts or a typo, please do send an ask and let me know, so that I can fix the cards!
