āI usually donāt break anything when I do it, thoughā is definitely a Benny ask. š
āHow did you even do that?ā You didnāt realize youād been speaking aloud as you looked over the manās x-ray.
āIām an MMA fighter,ā he spoke up, and you turned to look at him. He was smiling a little, despite his swollen cheek and black eye.
āI usually donāt break anything when I do it, though,ā he added. You hummed, pulling your seat up in front of him and taking hold of his hand.
āHow long do you think Iāll be out of commission?ā He asked, and you could hear worry tinging his voice.
āAbout a month? The splint can some off after then, but after that itās gonna be another two weeks without doing anything strenuous.ā He swore under his breath and you let your eyes stray to his for a moment, offering him a sympathetic look.
āThis didnāt even happen in the ring,ā he sighed, āGuy was a sore loser, tried to take me on in the parking lot.ā You shook your head.
āDick move,ā you said simply. He laughed, and you smiled a little as you returned to your work quietly.
āMonth and a half,ā he grumbled as you stepped away. āThe hell am I supposed to do for a month and a half?ā
āKeep your workouts exclusively the right side of your body. Youāll wind up with a real mean hook.ā
āOh, Iāve already got one of them.ā You smiled.
āTry not to overdo it, Mr. Miller. Weāll see you in a few weeks.ā
āAny chance I could see you before then?ā You were surprised. It wasnāt that youād never had a patient come on to you, but it was the first time you were considering it.
āFor⦠Medical reasons?ā You asked. He snorted.
āOr a drink.ā You stepped farther back into the room, holding your hand out for his phone.
āI am pretty curious to see what your face looks like when itās not all swollen.ā
Benny laughed, Ā āI donāt think youāll be disappointed.ā
