Apparently Fairy Gala will have a rerun on TWST EN! I played through Fairy Gala IF on TWST JP and I think I read through a walkthrough of the original event. But I'm excited to experience it in game! Leona's SSR card for the event is GORGEOUS (★ω★)
I also ADORE flowers so Yuuri's outfit is very obviously inspired by a flower in bloom, specifically the skirt part. I was gonna base it off a camellia flower but uhhh I got lazy the petals of a camellia flower are more rounded orz
Mostly, though I remember thinking about what if Yuuri got roped into the event specifically to help with the outfits...aaaand that spawned ideas for some card lines below lol

I mentioned in her backstory that her parents eventually sent her to live on her own in a small town outside the city. They would also send her enough funds to cover cost of living but that also meant she didn't have funds to really explore, have fun, enjoy life, do "normal" things other folks her age would do. If she did want to because a classmate invited her out, she'd have to budget that money away which meant being picky wasn't really an option for her.
Home cooked meals would be ones she associates most with comfort moreso because of the mood than the actual meal. She was old enough to take care of herself by the time her parents sent her away, but also old enough to remember how the mood of family meals together changed from warmth to distance. And then eventually to just herself altogether. So it doesn't really matter what the meal is, it's more about the who she is sharing it with.
But if there is a particular food she likes and dislikes. She has a preference for refreshing and citrusy flavors since they're perfect for combating the heat! And she dislikes bitter flavors for the simple reason that she doesn't think anything bitter tastes good! (●ˇ∀ˇ●)
If Yuuri could choose another dorm to be in, which would it be?
Can she just stay in Ramshackle because as old and creaky as the place is, at least the only chaos she has to manage is Grim and not Grim + whatever nonsense is happening at the other dorms? (✿◉‿◉)

Probably Heartslabyul 1) because Ace and Deuce are there and I am weak to Heartshackle found family OT3 feels 😭 and 2) I am fond of the idea that because Heartslabyul is the first dorm the Prefect/Yuu interacts with, its also the dorm they grow the closest with throughout the story of TWST so Heartslabyul becomes like a family for them. And to be honest, Yuuri did grow up under a lot of social scrutiny - so I feel like following all the rules, wouldn't be difficult for her even if she does internally question them. Though I also don't think it'd be as stifling post-OB Riddle.
Scarabia would be a close second. It's just...Yuuri isn't used to the heat lol which is ironic because she relocates to the Scalding Sands as an adult She grew up in a more temperate region and she probably fainted from heat exhaustion several times during the marches thru the desert in B4 because she isn't used to the temperature there.
Although she would love moon gazing at sky in Scarabia dorm and I'm assuming here that the temperature of Scarabia at night is more manageable based on irl desert biomes (but I'm not expert so I might be wrong)

I think this is the first time I've heard this song! I was never able to fully get into Mermaid Melody because my local library only had one or two volumes of the manga and I don't remember ever seeing it aired on TV :( But it always intrigued me!

At last I've compiled all my thoughts and random ass tags into one lore post ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡ Granted a lot of this went thru changes from my initial draft six or seven months ago but that is a normal part of developing characters 🙂↕️
I also spent way too many hours staring and rereading this to make sure it makes sense. Go now into the wild long ass lore post so I can consume sustenance (￣ ‘i ￣;)

Growing Up
By all accounts, she should have lived an unremarkable, normal life. Her family doesn't have any notable Lunarian ancestry, at least none that they are aware of. And yet, she was born with features that unmistakably marked her as a descendant of the moonfolk. That was enough to make her childhood miserable.
Although she was a relatively bright child growing up, the years of whispers, stares, and quiet acts of hostility gradually turned her into someone withdrawn and lonely. Parents kept their children from playing with her, and in turn, those children learned to avoid her at best or outright shun her like their parents taught them. Neighbors gossiped when she walked by. Teachers treated her differently. Even at home, the strain began to show as her parents grew increasingly distant.
Her parents forced her to dye her hair, to blot out the stands with raven black until no traces of the moonlight remained. They understood better than anyone what visible Lunarian traits meant in their society. And for a time, it worked.
The overt hostility faded. At a glance, Yuuri looked no different from anyone else. But the whispers never truly stopped. Neither did the stares directed at her or the uneasy glances cast toward her family.
It came to a point that Yuuri haphazardly cut her hair. She didn't choose to be born this way, and yet everyone made it out to be her fault anyways. There was so little she had control over and when the moment faded, nothing changed.
In the end, her parents decided to send her away to a small town far from the city. Somewhere no one knew her name. Somewhere she could begin again. Maybe anonymity would give her a normal life. Maybe distance was what all of them needed.
And in a way, it worked. As long as Yuuri carefully maintained her dyed hair, deflected questions about her unusual eyes, and behaved the way people expected her to, everything was fine. The people in her new town were polite. Friendly, even. But Yuuri never felt safe. Because what if they found out? The people around her only knew the version of herself she allowed them to see. They knew the mask. Not the person beneath it.
Every morning, she woke up and put that mask back on. There was a figure in the mirror she could not recognize but that didn't matter. She needed to make sure there weren't any cracks, or flaws, or anything that might reveal what she was. She'd go to school, smile, and pretend that everything was fine.
Then she would return home. The house would be empty. Only the sound of her footsteps. The beating of her heart. She'd remove the mask, and find herself staring into the mirror. To a figure in the mirror she still didn't recognize.
Guidebook: Yuuri's Homeworld
Much of the fear and discrimination toward Lunarian descendants in modern Usuzuki no Kuni can be traced back to an old fairy tale about a princess from the moon.
Over time, the story ceased to be remembered as the tale of a young woman who chose humanity over divinity and instead a tale of people who did not belong. The moonfolk came to be viewed as something separate from humanity—beautiful, alien, and never-changing.
To some, Lunarians are a reminder of people who sought the embrace of an eternal existence beyond human understanding. Those who bear stronger Lunarian features are often treated as living reminders of a divide between the divine and humanity. Unusual eyes and hair that resembled moonlight are the indicators that someone had stronger Lunarian ancestry. As a result, descendants with visible Lunarian traits often find themselves subjected to suspicion, exclusion, and quiet hostility.
Truly, Lunarian descendants are human in every sense of the word. Outside of the physical differences, there is nothing that marks them as truly different from humans. But many regard them as an "other" that never truly belonged to humanity. And in the most extreme case, they regard Lunarian descendants as something masquerading as a human.

I don't draw enough pre-twst/Book 1-2 Yuuri and the one time I do, it turns into Yuuri looking like she's just one bad day away from OBing 🧍♀️
These are just doodle but I wanted to draw the contrast between her as a child (which her post-character growth self is more like) and how she was like just before getting yeeted into TW the loneliness crushing the light out of her.
I'm going to make a follow up post with more finalized lore and backstory for her. Funnily enough, making the HSR AU post helped me untangle my thoughts better lol

I am never gonna get off my TWST x HSR bullshit so here are the some random thoughts I had below:
I like to think TW is its own star system with all the countries in TW would be its own planet in the star system. Far enough from each other to warrant a space ship travel to and from each planet but close enough that takes anywhere from an hour to a day at most. This also kinda gives me kingdom hearts vibes and that's totally unintentional
The IPC would have trade partnerships with the royal families/prominent merchant families and businesses and products from each country be sold for interstellar import i.e. the spices and silks from the Scalding Sands, embrodiered fabrics from Briar Valley, etc. (I can totally see Azul doing an internship with the IPC and I imagine Kalim's family is one of the IPC's biggest trade partner)
If assuming that path resonance and blessings of aeons are the equivalent of magic in the HSR verse, would blot be associated with Nihility? Since blot is also a major build up of negative emotions - what if the equivalent of it in an HSR AU has some association with the Nihility mixed with Destruction (since blot is dangerous to the mage itself) 🤔 Kinda want to add a stellaron in there somehow (maybe to explain the consecutive overblotting incidents of the OB crew? since its supposed to be RARE) but haven't thought that far yet. also thinking of IX anywhere near this is scary if you think more on it 💦
What I would wonder about would be the magic schools in TWST in a HSR crossover. Unlike TWST where mages aren't as common, pathstriders seem to be a regular part of everyday life according to the data bank entry. So would the schools focus more on the cream of the crop among pathstriders? Are they research institutes studying more on the aeons? Would there be schools dedicated to a particular aeon or path? WOULD THE DORMS BE ALIGNED WITH A PARTICULAR DORM OR PATH? Are they all just institutions part of the Intelligentsia Guild and on IPC payroll?
Path associations off the top of my head for housewardens + Jamil are: Riddle - Harmony, Leona - Erudition, Azul - Harmony, Kalim - Abundance, Jamil - Hunt, Vil - Preservation, Idia - Nihility, Malleus - Destruction. But I think you can make cases for other paths making sense based on their characterization too cough SP forms cough
🌙 Yuuri related thoughts for this crossover AU below which are now more finalized compared to my previous ramblings:
It's said that the Lunarians were Elixir Seekers who found the medicine of salvation and gained immortality through this knowledge. In their long lives, they lived long peaceful lives of stagnation. Living until their bodies withered and they exist solely in a spiritual form. That is until a voyager from the stars beyond briefly landed on the planet.
This encounter would change the heart of a young princess who grew enamored by the stories of the world beyond the stars. Of places so drastically different from home, of people who lived finite lives yet endlessly changed and grew. These stories made the young princess question the stagnation of her home, the emotional stillness, the unsettling peace. Eventually, her longing for the sky beyond culminated in exile.
Regardless, the young princess left her home until she landed on a planet. A planet that would come to be known as Usuzuki no Kuni and the people there who claim to have descended from her.
Throughout the amber eras, her name name disappeared from the historical record, surviving only in stories. She became a fairy tale. The tale of a maiden who chose a future with humanity among the stars over eternal paradise promised by the gods.
To a certain degree, much of the fear and discrimination against Lunarians in current day Usuzuki no Kuni stem from the fairy tale. They consider those who carry stronger Lunarian features as walking reminders of a mistake their ancestors made in seeking out the blessings of Yaoshi. Some even go so far as to consider them as Denizens of Abundance.
On the day Yuuri was to be sent away to another planet by her parents due to the increasing hostile treatment she was experiencing at home due to her Lunarian features, a stellaron disaster struck and shot her ship to a different star system until she crash lands in TW.
Haven't thought about what happens while she is there BUT at some point the AE makes their way over and she convinces them to let her join temporarily to tie up loose ends on her homeworld
Said homeworld is under the influence of the stellaron, blah blah blah happens (need to mull on this more) but my thought is that she becomes a Remembrance pathstrider as someone whose experiences encapsulate the truth of her homeworld's legacy and strives to move forward preserving the hope in her ancestor's memory. She is however stuck on her homeworld for little over a year recuperating from the events of...whatever I'm calling this arc.
I chose not to make a pathstrider from the get go because pathstriders need to have strong beliefs that align with a path and resonate with it which is something Yuuri lacks in the beginning. So resonating with a path and becoming a pathstrider is something I consider full circle for her character journey.
