happy valentine’s day @isla1975!
And it’s finally time for the big reveal!
First, however, we would like to genuinely thank each and every single one of you who participated in this years event.
There were a few complications/dropouts at the last minute and we had to reroute some gifts, to ensure everyone who created a gift received a gift, which means your gift might have ended up going to someone who was not your initial, designated Valentine and we want to thank those people involved for understanding. The most important thing, anyway, is that all of you have managed to make somebody’s day with your creation(s) and we hope you all had just as much fun as we did!
Now, without further ado, we present to you the full list of our 2018 Valentine’s -
Let them Eat Cake
For @asroarke, from your valentine.
Summary:Â Bellamy and Clarke hate each other, Valentine's Day, and capitalism, in that order.
They do like free dessert though.

The first time it happens, the day it all starts, is the year Miller tries to set him up on Tinder. Bellamy stares at his friend for a full minute, trying to comprehend how Miller -- who actively tries to make known how apathetic and disinterested he is regarding Bellamy’s personal live -- could possibly want him to do this.
“I’m just trying to be a concerned friend, man.”
“It’s fucking weird,” Bellamy grumbles, snatching his phone back and wiping it down on his jeans as if that will help.
“Fine,” Miller huffs, “see if I ever try to help make your life happy and fulfilling again.”
“My life is happy and fulfilling now.”
“Yeah? And what are your plans for next week, huh?” “I knew it!” Bellamy snaps a finger and points at him like he’s just caught him out in a court of law, “I knew this was about your romantic agenda.”
Miller cocks an eyebrow. “You’re unhinged.”Â
Bellamy scoffs. “Ever since you and Jackson got together you’ve felt like your grumpy old man credentials are being threatened so you’re trying to drag my ass into the world of romantic bliss with you. It’s the Valentine’s effect. Like a disease.”
“What, a man can’t just want his best friend to be happy?”
“Pimping me out to a bunch of anonymous internet randos is supposed to make me happy?”
Miller rolls his eyes. “Considering I was the theatre nerd in high school, you sure did turn out to be the bigger drama queen.”
If Bellamy’s being logical, then maybe Miller has a point. Not about the Tinder -- because seriously, no -- but about the overreacting. It’s not like Bellamy is opposed to the idea of romance on like, a global scale but.

Summary: There’s also another feeling Clarke can’t quite place until—
“You’re jealous,” Raven says like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
What? "Why would I be jealous?"
"You're in love with him."
"I am not in love with Bellamy," she says under her breath, but for some reason, that doesn't feel entirely true.

The thing is, Clarke had never thought of Bellamy Blake as anything other than her friend; best friend, to be exact. From as far back as she can remember, he's been the one constant in her life.
He was her first friend; when his sister put gum in Clarke's hair, he was the one to help coax it out with peanut butter which was gross, but it worked. He taught her all about the constellations and she taught him how to swim. He was her first kiss too; when she fell off her bike he kissed her forehead and told her she was going to be okay. Her actual real first kiss didn’t come until much later though and was with a girl named Glass in tenth grade — her lips tasted of sweet mint lip balm.
But then Bellamy got a girlfriend, or so Clarke thinks.
And, well—
"He threw up on me! It took me four washes to get it out of my hair.” Clarke gathers up her hair and pulls it down over her shoulder, grimacing. “And then had the nerve to ask for my number.”
Bellamy snorts. "That's disgusting. Your love life is a disaster."
“And yours isn’t?” she challenges him, teasingly. “Anyway. I would just like to erase this entire day from my memory, thanks.”
"There's only one way to do that." Bellamy gestures towards her almost empty beer, "Want another one?"
"Please."
He gets up and heads towards the bar while Clarke finishes off her beer.
It's not that Clarke means to read Bellamy's message, but the light from his phone on the table catches the corner of her eye and she can't help but look—
Can we meet @ 8pm tonight instead?

We’ll Make It Work
For @fangirlinessoflife, from your valentine.
Summary:Â Everyone has a soulmate, and everyone gets their mark when they turn twenty. Clarke and Octavia have known that since they were little girls. They've both also known that having a soulmate doesn't automatically solve all of your problems. It's why Clarke can understand how Bellamy doesn't much care for the idea of having a soulmate. But Clarke does. She cares enough to push her feelings for her best friend's older brother away because it doesn't matter who she likes; she'll find her soulmate. But as life brings Bellamy and Clarke closer, she finds it harder to pull away from him, harder still when he becomes a permanent fixture in her life.Â
Or, the one where Clarke knows she has a soulmate, but she loves Bellamy.

A/N: For my lovely 2018 Bellarke Secret Valentine @fangirlinessoflife! Happy Valentines Day, darling! <3 I had a lot of fun writing this for you, and I hope it delivers all the fluff you wanted! Thank you so much for all the work you put into this!!
February 2009Â
When Clarke is eleven years old, she sits on the floor of her best friend’s bedroom, moving closer to Octavia to peer over the young girl’s shoulder. They huddle close together and gossip quietly about the marks that cover the pages in front of them.
“Why doesn’t Bellamy let you look at these?” Clarke asks the brunette beside her.
“He thinks soulmarks are stupid,” Octavia scoffs and rolls her eyes.
“Yeah, but look at how pretty that one is!” Clarke says, pointing to the glittery silver rose on Emma Watson’s shoulder blade. Its lack of inky black lines indicate that she hadn’t yet found out who her soulmate was at the time the picture was taken. “I wonder how they covered it up in Harry Potter.”
“I don’t know. Mom has tried all the stuff they sell at the drugstore to cover up soulmarks, and nothing works.”
“Do you think we’ll get one?” Clarke asks, whispering as though the marks are a big secret.
“Clarke, everyone gets a soulmark.”

Off Guard
For @erudite-princess, from your valentine.Â
Summary: “You have to figure out your opponent’s weakness if you want to beat them,” he added in, and Clarke cocked her head to the side. He could see the gears turning in that head of hers as she stepped toward him. “Unfortunately for you, I have no weaknesses,” he joked, and a giggle escaped her lips.
“So, there is absolutely nothing I can do that would catch you off guard?” she asked curiously, and Bellamy cocked his head to the side… trying to figure out what was going through Clarke’s head.
“You are more than welcome to try,” he chuckled, earning a smirk from Clarke.

Prince Finn was easily Bellamy’s least favorite of Clarke’s suitors. He was just too much. Bellamy had been watching him and Clarke talk for almost half an hour now, and Finn had already interrupted Clarke five different times. He was a bit too into making physical contact with Clarke. And that was not just Bellamy’s jealousy talking. He could tell Clarke was not comfortable with it either based on the way her jaw would twitch when he would grab her hand.
To Clarke’s credit, there was no way Prince Finn could tell how annoyed Clarke was with him. She had inherited her mother’s ability to conceal her irritation with a soft smile. But Bellamy could tell. He knew what her real smile looked like. He could tell the difference between her real laugh, which was often a little too loud, and her forced one, which was perfectly soft and subtle. He could see how Clarke would get lost in her own thoughts while Finn was talking animatedly about something.
And even if he did not notice any of that, he certainly noticed when Clarke tapped the side of her glass three times as she took a sip… their signal. It was how Clarke would ask Bellamy to get her out of there without arousing suspicion. She had never used it before when meeting with a potential suitor, which meant Prince Finn was truly as obnoxious as he seemed from a distance.
“Your Highness,” Bellamy said calmly, careful to speak as soon as Prince Finn was done with his current train of thought.
“Yes?” Clarke asked, glancing up at him with raised eyebrows.

Their love started like everything else in Clarke’s life - unbidden, sudden, with a chance to pass her by without her even realizing it was a possibility.
It started on a rushed Thursday when Clarke had forgotten her alarm and was running late for work. The elevator had been out of order again, stuck on the second floor, and she had raced down the stairs, hair in disarray and scarf trailing behind her like a sad lost puppy.
She had just reached the entrance when she had slipped, her foot landing on few stray papers and making her land on her butt rather heavily. Coffee spilled and yelling curses left and right, she had gotten up and kicked at the papers in anger, almost stomping on them in retaliation with her dirty boots.
At the last possible moment, she had seen the red ink staining the pages and she had refrained, more curious than angry. The papers all had different names, childish letterings retelling the story of Ganymede of Troy. Some of the writings had made her chuckle, so she had gathered them up and propped them against the wall, figuring somebody had dropped them in a haste - the red ink was thoughtfully applied, seemingly with lot of care.
She had been almost out of door when she came back, pulling out a wrinkled yellow post-it note from her backpack, quickly scribbling few words on it and sticking it next to the papers, just for kicks if nothing else.
Then she had raced to catch her bus just to miss it by a narrow margin. (It had rained, of course, and she had no umbrella; it had been one of those days.)
She had forgotten all about the incident by the end of the day and the reply caught her by surprise.

I’ll be right there behind you You will have no need to look back
For @octannibal-blake, from your valentine.
do you look both ways (when you cross my mind)
For @jeanie205, from your valentine.
Summary: “I’ve missed -- this,” she says quietly. “You.”
For a moment, he only looks at her. There’s something endless in his eyes, something wistful and tinged with an emotion she can’t place; she used to always know what he was thinking. The expanse of six years stretches between them, and she misses what’s right in front of her. Then he blinks, like waking up, and wraps a lock of her dyed hair around his fingers.
“Me, too,” he says. A smile hides behind his scruffy beard, and Clarke feels like maybe they’re the only ones in the universe. Like maybe, they’re alone.
“God, just kiss already,” Zeke says, and a laugh bubbles from her chest. Not that alone, it seems. Bellamy grins, ducks his head.

It’s Valentine’s Day, they think. Of the nine of them, Zeke has the best handle on the date, but -- it’s been a while.
After weeks of bitter cold, today was a luxury; a warm southern wind stirs their hair and thaws the snowy ground, leaving muddy patches and little rivers in its wake. Raven is fairly certain that this weather will only last for a day or two, so. Valentine’s Day, or close to it.
“I don’t understand,” Clarke grouches. Her eyes are on Murphy and Emori, who aren’t actively tearing each other’s clothes off but might as well be, from the way they’re glued together in the corner of the camp. “Why is this Valentine’s Day more important than all of the other ones we’ve ignored while on the ground?”
“This Valentine’s Day, I have a boyfriend who doesn’t treat me like shit,” Raven says airly. “That makes it our top priority.” Zeke pecks her on the lips, and she smiles into his mouth, wrapping her legs around his waist.
“Shouldn’t our top priority be actually doing something about the Eligius ship?” Bellamy says, striding over to where they sit. Raven gives him the finger and he laughs, taking the seat next to Clarke. Her heart flutters at his proximity, the way he grins at her, the hand he places on her knee. It’s been happening more and more often since he got back -- the butterflies.

Wife Pro Tempore
For @bellarkekittens, from your valentine.Â
Summary: Bellamy’s in kind of a jam. His new department head has been coming on to him and he hasn’t been able to get her to stop, so he’s invented a wife. But now something’s come up and Bellamy needs to produce that wife. Will he be able to persuade Clarke, his roommate and best friend, to help him out?

“So the thing is,” Bellamy said, grabbing the remote and muting the volume to ensure he had the full attention of his roommate and best friend, “I need a wife.”
“What?” The spoon carrying the milk-soaked cornflakes tilted precariously halfway to Clarke’s mouth, spilling a few drops of liquid onto the quilt she’d tossed across her legs.
Bellamy’s shoulders drooped as he threw himself into the opposite corner of their thrift-shop couch.
“Pretty sure you know what a wife is, Clarke,” he muttered into his chin.
“Yeah,” she agreed, dropping the spoon into the bowl and carefully sliding it onto the coffee table, “but somehow I never the connected the word with... you.” She frowned in confusion. “Is this a sudden inclination or has it been coming on for a while now?”
Clarke’s gut twisted in apprehension. Had Bellamy met someone recently that she hadn’t heard about? Someone he might actually consider... marrying? She turned to study him carefully, but his demeanor was not at all that of a man who’d found “true love.”
It was more like someone whose stress level was climbing into the stratosphere.

Something stupid
For @youleftme-clarke, from your valentine.
Summary:Â When Clarke and Bellamy find themselves in an uncomfortable situation, they find out they have very different methods of dealing with it.
"It was time to tackle the issue before it got out of hand. It was time to face what happened, or else he would never hear of Clarke Griffin again, and he just couldn't allow that."

What was it that drove people to do stupid things? Bellamy pondered the question for the thousandth time that week as he lay in bed, listening to the utter silence in the flat. So far, he had come up with reasons ranging from "wanting something", to "needing something", to "not being aware that said something was a stupid thing to do". He had also found the circumstances in which the stupid thing happened to be quite relevant and influential, at least, in his own experience. Circumstance had made him do a stupid thing, and with that factor well established within his mental scheme on that night, Bellamy only needed to figure out one more thing: the why. Because whatever the circumstances, he wouldn't have done what he did with just anybody, which brought him back to his original question: what was it that drove people to do stupid things?
It had been a week since the stupid thing happened and, coincidentally, since the last time he'd seen or heard of Clarke. Perhaps those two events were completely unrelated and Bellamy had been needlessly thinking too much about it. Or perhaps -and this one was the option which didn't feel like a blatant lie to himself- the first thing had triggered the second, and Clarke was avoiding him. But that was ridiculous, right? It had only been a week. Maybe she was just busy with everything else. Perhaps she hadn't even noticed the lack of communication. It wasn't so rare, it happened. (Even in the best families).
Bellamy could've brushed it off and think nothing of it, if not for the fact that they were best friends. If not for the fact that they lived together. No, he couldn't just ignore it, and one week had been enough. Bellamy was done hiding from the inevitable conclusion he'd been trying to unsee all week: that Clarke was actually avoiding him.
