:: Storage Room Organizing :: Today we organized a storage room filled with linens, kids toys, memorabilia, camping gear, and cleaning supplies. Very little was gotten rid of; there doesn't always have to be a downsizing goal. The Process: For space and time-management purposes, we pulled things out of the room to an adjacent outside deck one section at a time. We don't like to leave a mess at the end of a day for you to deal with, especially when it may be a multi-day project. This is the part where many people - including inexperienced organizers - can get stuck by making the mistake of pulling too much out at once. There may not be enough time, resources, space, nor energy to get things done in a single day, so plan to work one area at a time as you go. We don't truly know what we are getting into until we start digging in! The client was busy Zooming work so couldn't participate in decision-making on anything to discard, so the Bella Team focused on cleaning and organization. We dusted and vacuumed cobwebs top to bottom, the window & sill, wiped down shelves and bins, and used leftover carpet tiles we found stored to replace the old rug. We brought lots of extra bins we knew would be needed to maximize space on those shelves, organized like items into place, cleaned up cords and wires, and labeled everything. It took a 2-person team 8.5 hours to thoroughly sort, deep clean, organize, and label this storage space.
