Hi omg I'm so sorry for my inactivity on here 😭 I managed to finish this drawing after a while of working on it on and off! They're two characters I've been spinning around in my head for a bit, mostly just for fun and I only have a very general idea of their story. They're FBI agents sent to investigate a string of strange occurrences in a small Oregon town. they're also cats ❤

Marvin (black cat), recently scolded by his superiors for repeated instances of insubordination as well as a generally strained relationship with his coworkers, can't afford to mess up this investigation if he wants to keep his position in the bureau. On the other hand, Otis (white cat) is a very charismatic agent, well-liked by most of his peers. He's also one of the few people in the office that gets along with Marvin, having met him years ago when they both were still training in the Academy. Marvin is placed under Ozzy's supervision for this investigation, but when the odd circumstances in that small town seem to slowly start causing Ozzy to act erratically, Marvin will suddenly find himself in a delicate situation, having realized from the start that most of the overly friendly locals cannot be trusted.

Very excited about sharing this!! It's my first c0mmissi0n in these past couple of years, all of the previous times I opened them I was only able to accept deviantart points and Steam games in exchange 😭

Here's part two of those traditional lineart / digital color drawings I did. This was actually the first one I sketched out but coloring and shading it took significantly longer than anticipated, and I'm not super happy with how it came out, I just needed to stop working on it and move onto something else because I stared at it for way too long and nothing looked right 😭 it was still an interesting learning experience though, and I always enjoy doing these simple forest backgrounds

I don't have much of a story for him yet, all I know is that he spends most of his days walking around areas that have been said to harbor cryptids or other unexplained phenomena in the past. He's very skittish and prefers to keep to himself, avoiding contact with others entirely whenever possible. His name isn't actually "boy", that's just what many people he's asked for directions refer to him as (he hasn't given out his name to anyone and avoids the question when asked). He's a well known presence to park rangers as well as visitors who frequent certain national parks.

I've been having really bad artblock for a while now + been busy with uni stuff, sorry for the inactivity! While designing this character I tried doing the lineart on paper and then coloring digitally for the first time. Felt kinda counterintuitive but it was nice to change things up a little, especially since digital lineart is always the step I struggle with the most

This took a lot longer than anticipated, it was originally just going to be an unshaded thing with a flat background. I had fun trying to figure out the rendering on his chaps and hat since they're stuff i'm not really used to shading.

I don't really have all that much to say about this piece since its not very based on lore or anything, so I'll just add some more info from Warren's bio I don't think I've mentioned before:

His father was a famous gunslinger and never really paid much attention to his wife, Wren or Wren's brothers. He'd leave town for months or even years at a time and then come back without warning. Wren would hear stories about his father wherever he went, but nobody would believe him when he said they were related. During his teen years he started aspiring to be just like his dad, and after the news of his father's hanging reached the Roy household, he would run away from home to continue the legacy at just 17 years old. Aside from aspirations of fame and fortune, Warren also inherited a deeply rooted selfishness that would progressively poison him the same way it poisoned his father.

i just like the color, hate doing proper backgrounds and i'm not very original. you can literally see sketches and partially colored pictures of drawings i posted later fully finished and rendred on this very blog as well as on my instagram.

this still annoys me though because i don't spend 8+ hours in every drawing just for you to come here and accuse me of using AI, dick

Here's a lore piece of my characters Archie and Fidel (and also Wren if you squint). These cowboy guys have been plaguing my mind lately I have so many ideas..... I tried to get back into detailed shading with this drawing but since I'm pretty rusty it took me ages to get this finished 😭

The text is from Janelle Tan's poem Claude Glass as Night Song (a fragment of the poem below)

These were super fun to work with! I was asked to draw them as hares, and trying to turn human features into animals and still keep them recognizable is always something I enjoy doing :] 💖

as per usual, combining multiple of my current interests and making ocs out of it has taken me out of a months-long artblock. I don't think i've ever had cowboy characters before so designing them was an interesting process. I'll leave a quick synopsis of the story below! (and some character inspiration templates)

This story is set in southern United States in the early 1890s. Archie (opossum) is an outlaw who until recently belonged to a 3-person gang of thieves. Fidel (belgian Groenendael) and Archie have been working together since they were teens, while Wren (white cat) was invited by Archie to join them later on when all 3 of them were in their late 20s. They mostly spent their days robbing civilians on the road, and they've orchestrated a few high-profile robberies over the years. By the time they were in their early 30s, after a successful bank heist, Wren betrayed his friends, killed Fidel and took their shared savings. This happened a few months ago as of the setting of the story. After discovering a lead on the whereabouts of Wren, Archie set out on a mission to take revenge. Along the way, while passing through a saloon in New Orleans, he met Beau (belgian Malinois), a disheveled-looking Catholic priest who was very insistent on tagging along for Archie's ride to Texas. According to Beau, he received a letter from his younger brother saying he was sick, and thus was in a hurry to get to his brother's home in San Antonio. Normally, Archie would pay no mind to such a request from a stranger, but oddly enough something about Beau's demanor reminded him of his late friend Fidel, and thus he reluctantly agreed to help. Although Archie has never been the superstitious type, he couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of sign.

I wanted to try using a less saturated palette with these designs, i've gotten rusty with the use of desaturated colors

two new characters i've been working on for the past couple of weeks :] the one on the left is called Miguel and the one on the right is Paloma. i have a pretty basic idea for their story so far, but i'll leave it below:

Paloma and Miguel first met eachother shortly after both of them had recently ended their respective years-long romantic relationships. One of Miguel's friends and one of Paloma's friends are a happy couple, and they decided to introduce these two in a "double date" of sorts. But the date didn't go as expected: Miguel and Paloma couldn't stand eachother (and they were both still very hung up on their ex relationships).

After this first failed meeting, they kept running into eachother over and over again in random places, forcing them to repeatedly interact with eachother. What initially was a tense and awkward relationship between acquaintances slowly became a friendship. While spending more time around eachother, they realized they have similar problems in their personal lives, especially when it comes to frustration regarding the 'dating world', as well as the situations that forced them to break up with their ex partners. Based on this common ground, each of them is able to start dealing with the grief they were previously stuck on, relying on eachother for support.
