it's so funny watching black music artists' MVs back in the 90s and 00s because a lot of them were so camp with the film tropes and cliches. and who can't forget the iconic "to be continued" at the end.

finally watched the first episode of the ykk ova (after finishing the manga 4 years ago) and i was entranced by some of the smaller moments of animation. especially that first gif the reflection in the train window is like wizardry to me
I think one of the best example of character writing is in Patlabor with its extraordinary restraint in going in depth with characters' past, especially with the television series where there are so many chances to do so (yes I love Patlabor on TV how'd you know). It's so easy to want give the characters their own solo time to explore and elaborate more on their past and how they came to be. In fact, I think the most we ever got of the cast pre-SV2 was Nagumo in Patlabor 2 (or that one time where Kanuka'a and Noa's job history was read aloud on the tv series idk) and even then it was no deep dive either. Patlabor treated its characters like real people and was so confident with its writing that it doesn't feel the need to explain its characters at all and it succeeded.
Gotou, for example, is shrouded in mysteries. His past pre-SV2 is completely unexplored outside of some implication in the movie universe OVAs, his reputation with colleagues are dubious at best. We as viewers don't even know if he can operate a Labor despite being a captain (and we know Nagumo can). It would be so easy to provide some answers to him, to explain some of his personalities, maybe even a brief flashback somewhere. Yet Patlabor did not wavered, Gotou remained the mysterious cunning man without losing any of his charm.
This could be applied to other characters too. Asuma's brother could have been elaborated on more, or maybe Kanuka's NYPD career, or even the general history of SV2 before Noa and the Ingrams. But Patlabor's characters are expressed in the present time, by their present actions.
It could be argued that this kind of present-focused writing can resulted in the underdevelopment of characters, and unfortunately it does harm certain characters. Kumagami in the TV series is a prime example of this, she was unfortunately the least interesting member of SV2. Coming in as a permanent replacement for Kanuka, her character already found itself in massive disadvantages missing most of the developement of the SV2 crew and having a generally unimpressive character. She's only really meant to provide stability in opposite of Ota's chaos similiar to Kanuka, but unfortunately lacking Kanuka's own quirkiness. Her only saving grace was her relationship with the main antagonist, which a quick delve into the past would have built a lot more character and interest from the audience. But Patlabor's confidence in its writing meant her past will not be elaborated on. Kumagami still gets to have her own moments but this is a situation where her past could have been used to build and strengthen her character more.
The funniest thing in Patlabor TV series is that for some reason, the JSDF's special labor unit that is literally meant to FIGHT LABORS gets WIPED everytime they showed up on screen. Like everytime Fuwa and her aptly named Helldivers squad showed up, they had a cool ass entrance then proceeded to just get no diff'd by whatever those guys at Schaft cooked up. And they even had the gall to try to recruit Noa, I can't even remember one battle that they won definitively.

what does klaus voormann know.....
saw fnaf 2. strong at the start, peaked around the school and became underwhelming at the end. lots of missed potentials, the ending kinda sucked. film needs more time, the memes and references get overbearing sometimes.
its also my new comfort movie.

Scan of poster from canceled Paul McCartney film Nowhere Man (1966)
Nowhere Man was set to be the debut of the Capitol Records expansion into Capitol Films. It was the first solo-Beatle project, yet featured many tracks from Rubber Soul (1965). Due to bankruptcy of Capitol Films, the film was scrapped indefinitely despite being near the end of production. What little footage survived in 1995 was set to be digitised and featured in the Anthology. Unfortunately a storage facility fire destroyed it all, along with several other archived material. No other footage exists, the film is regarded by fans as 'lost media'.
PLOT SYNOPSIS (copied directly from rudimentary script) Nowhere Man! Twenty-something James Mann is a down on his luck banker. He travels every day to work, bored of life, wishes for a break from monotony. One day James meets mysterious French woman (Michelle) who introduces him to two-faced (literally!) detective Dave Marks. The trio must solve a case involving a runaway bird and ticking clock.
A tale of espionage and excitement, STARRING VICTOR SPINETTI, JULIE ANDREWS, AND PETER SELLERS.
Promotion printed in New York Times (Nov. 1965): Mr. Bean meets James Bond! Slapstick comedy. Featuring hit songs from Rubber Soul and MORE. Come one and come all for our Beatle-Lad Paul!
I think it’s sorta funny how we talk about mcbeardy being depressed because he was living in a remote home and trying to do normal person things (herding sheep) instead of his natural state which is wearing cunty outfits and being a whore on tour.
As opposed to Dark horse era George who was depressed because he was wearing cunty outfits and being a whore on tour instead of his natural state, which is of course living in a remote home and trying to do normal person things (planting trees)

john woo is literally one of the greatest director ever to write homoeroticness and for some reason it always involved chow yun-fat (the killer, hard-boiled, a better tomorrow...) except for that one time it was john travolta and nicholas cage
everyone's mourning rikiya but i'm heartbroken over nakahara getting the boot. rgg perfected him just like that and they just take it away. he was perfect

they better keep joji kazama's OST cuz that shit is a top 2 yakuza OST of all time and it ain't number 2
The unfortunate thing about just using the actors' likeness is that you lose all stylization in the designs, which results in the characters looking much blander.
