before my grandma died of COVID she was supporting me financially until i could get on my feet since she’s the only family that helped me

since she’s gone and in the midst of grieving i’ve got no money for food or immediate bills, my job have severely underpaid me this month and there’s no immediate help for me in my local area. none of my friends can help me

i didn’t want to turn here but i have nowhere else to turn. it’s so degrading but i need to eat and i have three cats are relying on me. i’m trying to sell some stuff including the laptop i use to play sims on but with COVID i can’t arrange a quick sell

People are dying from this typhoon and their homes are being flooded ON TOP of having to deal with a pandemic. 

There are videos out there of people crying for help and whole areas being flooded. 

For contextualisation: Keep in mind that Typhoon Ulysses is roughly equivalent to a Category-2 Hurricane.

I know I’m a total grind about open source stuff but browsers are the PERFECT place to learn to love open source software and for so long FireFox was a major part of the browser market and sometimes if you want to see what kind of fuckery google is up to it helps to see the kinds of things they block in firefox and just

There’s an organization that makes free, excellent, safe software that doesn’t collect and market your data but for some reason two thirds of the world uses a google product and most of the leftover population uses apple and just

I promise, firefox is so good - the extensions are incredible look - I can use lightbeam to see what sites I use and how they connect to other sites (bottom right should give you an idea how much time I spend on tumblr)

or I can look at ublock origin and see that it’s blocked over 2 million requests since I installed it or I can run the facebook container extension and stop facebook from tracking me and you know what I bet you can do a lot of that on chrome too but you’re doing that while chrome itself is tracking you and gobbling up your activity for google and

firefox is so fuckin great and it’s such a great ambassador for other open source projects please be a big old fuckin nerd with me and use firefox and run a bunch of funky extensions and customize the fuck out of your web experience.

hey guys,

some shithead stole my account. literally was able to get into it, change the email and password and handle.

i’ve contacted tumblr support and i’m just very tired and frustrated. i feel like so much time and hard work has been wasted because of one jerk who wanted to steal my account to make a fucking subaru blog lmfao. being 10 weeks pregnant and burnt out doesn’t help either.

i’m hoping i’ll be able to get it back, but if you’d like to follow here for the time being, that’d be nice. :(

The Philippines has been recently struck by two very strong typhoons in the past few weeks (and another one on the way) and a lot of people have been afected by it. If you can, please pray for us and donate to some donation drives to help those in need.

please do not donate to change[.] org. i doubt that any of the money that the organization asks for will go to humanitarian causes.  

do not donate to the philippine government. please don’t. there’s a bigger chance of them taking emergency funds and donations for themselves than them actually using it to help people out. 

with that in mind, it’s better to donate to local donation drives as well as local organizations.

this carrd has good information regarding hotlines, databases for rescue and aid centers, and reputable donation drives. 

this spreadsheet is arranged according to donation method (diff. banks) and also has a paypal sheet for those abroad. 

i will be adding more as i find them in future reblogs, but for now, the spreadsheet and the carrd linked above has donation drives and info you need. 

The events that happened recently are consequences from multiple ignorant decisions made by the government that disregards environmental and disaster fundings. There are a couple of donation drives within the country, but things would go a lot smoother with assistance from others as well. The typhoons that struck are named Rolly and Ulysses, should you consider to research yourself on what occured, and what is currently happening.

I'm here to post a collection of donation drives that I've gathered online. If we can't help them physically, we can at least make sure they have monetary assistance, food and clothing once they're evacuated.

For context:

The Philippines has been hit by three consecutive typhoons this month alone: Quinta, Rolly (Goni internationally) and Ulysses. It's been hitting nearly the same areas, which has made them even more vulnerable now that they're still recovering from the previous typhoons. Our mountain ranges couldn't shield us from this due to heavy quarrying and deforestation.

That said, these aren't the only places in need of assistance. But these are the places in urgent need of help. And we're trying to do as best as we can with what little we have.
