My self insert OC:

To summarize the video, the footage is from a day after Tisha and Brusha ended their friendship. They ended it on 8/6/02, and this footage is from 8/7/02. Brusha is in her room painting. She notices she’s running out of magenta paint and is about to go grab some more from Dyle when suddenly, the power goes out.

Brusha looks around, confused, before noticing that the camera light is still on. She wonders if someone is watching her. She backs up and hears a weird noise. The lights turn back on, and she sees someone standing in her room. We can’t see them, though, we only hear them speaking.

They comment on her art, and Brusha tells them to reveal who they are. They say that she needs to talk to someone, then start to say, “I’m D—” before the footage cuts out.

So, their name starts with D. That leaves us with four obvious suspects: Dandy, Dyle, Delilah, or Devan.

Or does it?

I think all four are valid guesses, but I don’t think any of them are right.

Dandy

First off, Dandy. The character speaking seems to have some type of accent or speech quirk where they pronounce their S’s and TH’s more like Z’s. Dandy does not have this accent. Brusha also doesn’t seem to recognize whoever is in front of her from their voice or appearance.

If it were Twisted Dandy, I don’t think he would have the consciousness to speak to her like this, and Brusha would probably be much more shocked or afraid if she saw him.

Also, at the end of the video, we see the mysterious person step further into frame, showing their feet/shoes. Their feet are much bigger than a toon’s. I think Dandy is probably the least likely candidate out of the four. Really, the only thing supporting him is the fact that his name starts with D.

Dyle

Next, Dyle. I don’t think it’s Dyle either. Similar to Dandy, Dyle doesn’t have the accent that the unknown person has.

I’ve seen people say that the person is Twisted Dyle, and that the Z’s are supposed to be him making snake-like noises because his Twisted form is a snake. I actually think this is a really smart theory, but I’m going to have to disagree.

Usually, a Z sound is short and sharp, while a snake-like sound would probably be more drawn out, like an “sss” or “sssthh.” For example:

“Sssoo, sthhiss is what your art looks like in perssson?”

or

“Sthounds like you’re looking for ansthwerss.”

I also don’t think Twisted Dyle has the same level of sanity that Twisted Gourdy and Twisted Brusha seem to have to speak clear English like this.

Not to mention, Twisted Dyle is HUGE. Brusha would probably be looking up a lot more if she were talking to him. She’s a taller toon, so most humans would probably only be around 8–16 inches taller than her. She does look up a little at whoever is in front of her, but the mysterious person isn’t absolutely towering over her.

And, as I mentioned earlier, they have feet. Twisted Dyle has a snake tail for a lower body, so I don’t think it can be him.

Delilah

Third, Delilah. I REALLY thought it was her at first. She makes the most sense based on a lot of the information we already have, but some things don’t line up.

First of all, like mentioned with everyone else, Delilah doesn’t have the accent. We’ve heard her speak in other camera footage without it, so I don’t really see why she would randomly have one here.

I’m also pretty sure that if it was Delilah, Brusha would recognize her. After all, Delilah brought the toons to life. She was probably one of the first humans they ever saw. This would also make the line “So this is what your art looks like in person” make less sense.

Delilah is the founder. She created the toons and monitored them to make sure they were behaving like their show counterparts. I doubt she never took the time to see Brusha’s art in person.

I compared the feet in the corner of this footage to Sam’s feet in the Sprout and Cosmo footage, and assuming Sam has normal human-sized feet, whoever is in Brusha’s room is most likely human, sharing the same proportions.

The person is wearing black shoes/boots. Delilah’s shoes are also black, but I feel like if this were Delilah, we would probably see at least some of her rainbow pants.

Even though the weird “find me” messages, syringes, and Delilah’s overall personality as an antagonistic and overly curious scientist all point toward her potentially breaking into Gardenview after it closed to investigate the Twisteds, I don’t think this person is her.

That doesn’t mean I think Delilah being in Gardenview is impossible, though. I’ll explain that in a minute.

Devan

Finally, Devan. I’m not 100% sure it’s him, but he might be my next best guess right now.

We’ve never heard his voice before, so it’s possible that he could have an accent or speak with the same Z pronunciation. Devan’s uniform also has black boots, and the person in the video seems to be wearing black shoes/boots.

Even if the physical evidence points toward Devan, there are still some major questions.

How would Brusha not recognize him?

Even if Devan wasn’t Brusha’s toon handler (she doesn’t have one), he was still a Gardenview staff member, meaning she would probably have seen him at least once. Even if she didn’t interact with him much, his picture is literally on the wall of the Greenhouse floor.

So it doesn’t really make sense for her to have absolutely no idea who he is.

And why would Devan come back to Gardenview?

For Delilah? That could make sense. She was curious about the Twisteds after the malfunction, and knowing her personality as an overly curious scientist, I could absolutely see her going back to investigate.

But why would Devan come back? To talk to Dandy, maybe? And if so, why is he talking to Brusha? Who is he trying to bring her to?

So who is it?

In my opinion, whoever was in the room was either Devan or a completely new human character.

It’s possible they were an old Gardenview staff member who didn’t interact with the toons very often because of their position. That would explain why they can enter the building, access the cameras, and seemingly control the lights without Brusha recognizing them.

I also don’t think they’re necessarily the only person involved.

They specifically tell Brusha that there is someone she should talk to, which could potentially be Delilah.

I don’t know why Delilah would be getting someone else to communicate with the toons instead of doing it herself, but I did notice something interesting: this person targets Brusha right after Tisha left her. 

That makes me wonder if whoever is behind this is intentionally observing and targeting toons when they’re isolated. Because if an isolated toon discovers something they shouldn’t, who are they going to tell? Who’s going to believe them  

I have SO much more I want to talk about, but unfortunately I don’t have time right now. I’ll probably have to make a longer rant about this video and some of the other theories I have later!!

In regards to what you mentioned with Delilah earlier, I think what happened that makes Delilah "villainous" was that she knew that the ichor could turn the toons into bloodthirsty monsters, but she still chose to use it anyways. She was also just generally neglectful towards the toons. It seems like in mid 2002, Dandy, or whoever the 'he' Arthur mentions in his note to Delilah is, "malfunctioned," (probably turned twisted or hurt someone,) which lead to the center being shut down. After that, the humans left, and Dandy created the ichor operation. Judging by Bobette's gossip about Brightney, it seems that the ichor operation was made to convert ichor to an energy source to keep the train going for supplies. This could also explain Dyle's gossip about Sprout, where he mentions needing to do something crazy for some "luxuries."

I don't see why people think Delilah made the ichor operation. The ichor operation was quite literally the effect of Delilah leaving. I think the ONLY way the ichor operation could be because of her is if she came back to Gardenview (which is a possibility, looking at all the weird "find me" messages, blocked off doors, and foot prints too big to be a toons) and manipulated Dandy into getting her ichor (which she’d need for some reason) and was LYING that it was for power, while in reality Delilah is paying for power.

Does that make sense? Idk, lol.

Anyways, done with that lore rant, onto the mischaracterization talk!

As for dandy, I feel like people can never really write him as a morally grey character. He's always turned into a heartless villain, or a sweet baby boy angel. I've made a couple posts about this already and being ! personally see his character. I don't think he deliberately manipulates Astro for the fun of it, I don't think he goes out of his way to ruin people's day, and I don't think he wishes harm or death upon people. I think he's selfish, greedy, cocky, and self absorbed.

That's not evil, just a jerk. I think that being the "one and only star of the show" got to his head, and he grew an ego because of it.

Actually, I want to talk about another thing related to Dandy and Delilah. I really hate the headcanon that Delilah abuses Dandy. It makes no sense to me. From how I see it, I imagine that if anything, Dandy was Delilah's favorite. He was her first toon and main mascot, after all. She probably spent the most time with him before the other toons were made and when she was less busy. I think him being her favorite makes a lot more sense and works as a better plot device. It could explain why he's so egotistical yet praise driven at the same time (unrealistic praise from Delilah,) why he trusts her so much if it's true that he lied about the ichor operation, and overall makes Dandy more complex and Delilah a more important character.

Now, onto Vee! Vee is my favorite toon and I love writing about/analyzing her. I feel like by far, Vee is one of the most mischaracterized characters that I've ever seen in fiction. First of all, 2024 dandy's world.

Sigh. Ok, I don't know why, but everyone in 2024 was either illiterate and lacked reading comprehension, didn't care about anything outside of ships, or super emotional, because wtf. I joined in September/October of 2024, cuz I'm just super OG like that. I've seen everything basically. Anyways, holy shit, if I didn't read and understand Vee's interactions, I would've thought she was the main villain of the game from how the fandom described her. I swear, yall fucking thought she was evil.

In my opinion, she reads as a blunt, straightforward, and brutally honest toon. She cares, but she doesn't sugar coat things. The interaction I see people get upset over the most are her interactions with Shelly and Looey. In every argument about how Vee is lik a toxic villain or whatever, these interactions are brought up to show how she's "rude" and "dismissive." All these interaction show is that she's blunt and honest. In her interaction with Looey, he asks if she would like to see his circus act, which she responds to flatly by saying no. In her first interaction with Shelly, Shelly asks to tell her about dinosaurs. Vee says that she already knew everything since it was in her data base, a declined. In their interaction, Vee does up to Shelly, which excites her. In the end, it ends up Vee just needed help moving stuff, not a new best friend.

I don't see the problem with any of these dialogues.

She's just being straight forward? She doesn't sugar coat things, she just says what's on her mind with no filter. That's just how she is? She isn't going out of her way to make Looey sad by not coming to his show, she was just genuinely busy and didn't want to go.

She wasn't telling Shelly she knew all her data already to upset her, she just getting already knows Shelly's facts, and not only did she not want to sit there and listen to things she already knew, she didn't want Shelly to waste her time educating someone who already knew everything. Wheres the point in that? As for her second one, she didn't purposely get Shelly's hopes up that someone wanted to hang out and be friends, when in reality all she needed was help moving stuff. And then don't get me started with ppl misunderstanding her interactions with Glisten and Sprout. THEY'RE FRIENDS!! She's teasing them, not bullying them.

I really can't believe it took this fandom so long to suspect that maybe Vee was insecure? Maybe she had something going on? Maybe she just had trouble talking to people? Her dialogue with Brightney and Teagan clearly explained that she doesn't mean to be rude or back handed, but yall don't bother to read those.

Obviously, I didn't expect the entire fandom to predict Vee's lore, but it was really obvious that she didn't mean to be rude. Am I saying Vee is perfect? No. She has lots of bad traits. Shes performative, arrogant, competitive, cocky, over confident, praise driven, insecure, inconsiderate, clingy, overprotective, and envious. Does that make her a monster though? No, not at all, but that's what fandoms do anytime a neurodivergent coded female character exists.

Personally, I think SOME (not all don't cancel me pls) of Vee hate is rooted in ableism and misogyny, but that's a whole other post. I could go on about that for a while.

Even with the lore we have now about her and Vee version two, I wish people would dive deeper. I wish they would study her relationships with other toons, with her handler, her attitude, her response to her issues, etc. Once again, not going to dive deeper into my opinions on all that, because that will make this post wayyy too long. I love talking about Vee, if that's not clear.

Now, Bassie. Not going to lie, I don't like Bassie, I think she's basic and annoying, but I feel like she's severely mischaracterized. Yes, she does kill Cocoa canonically, AFTER she goes fucking insane and turns twisted. Even then, you can see her angry/corrupted/insane side taking over her sad/guilty/more sane side. She quite literally fights herself to not do it, and in the end, the eye on her guilty/sad side close as she attack Cocoa. She low control. She didn't want to kill Cocoa, but she was literally turned into an insane, bloodthirsty, monster.

Her own mind forced her to.

I think twisted Bassie killing Cocoa was honestly very interesting to the plot. It added more character to Bassie. As I said earlier, I find Bassie uninteresting, but this really caught my attention. It made her feel a lot less like a boring, copy paste “I’m sad :((” oc. I don’t know why yall be acting like she thought every day morning and night about killing Cocoa. She cared about Cocoa. She literally hugs her in the music video. Yes, she’s jealous, but she didn’t genuinely want Cocoa to die.

I wanted to add a little theory I have about Cocoa and Bassie and the whispering flower but this post is already huge and probably a mess too ngl. Sorry I took so long to respond, btw. I had been saving this one for a time when I was free and ready to talk because I knew i was going to type up a storm. I get really excited when I get to talk abt lore and characterization and kind of hop around too much, so sorry if this is confusing. That’s all thought, I’m tired.

Some people may get annoyed at me for saying this, but I see Qwel just as much victim as the others due to being manipulated for a long while. Not to mention…a lot of folks have had toxic friends. They are extremely hard to get rid of, and the fandom pretending it’s easy to is…annoying.

Not saying I agree with Qwel’s actions one bit, but I see how at the time she could have thought people were lying about Rox due to the fact he had a good hold on her.

Not to mention some of the victims approving of doxxing and bullying others really made me question if this is really about Rox or just hurting Qwel.

I don’t support Qwel keeping Rox around, but it’s true she was also a victim. She too was manipulative by him for over six years. She was a kid when she found out what Rox did, she wouldn’t accept it ofc. Not saying it’s an excuse to put everyone else in danger, but I can show her sympathy.

Not gonna lie, since this whole controversey, DW fandom became extremely mob mentality like, and I don't like it one bit.
