memes, why anti absolutely terrifies me, and how the two weirdly go hand-in-hand for me (an honest analysis)
(note: once again the original thought i had for this went out the window by the time i reached the end. but i think a good realization came out of it that i kinda hope others take a chance to read, and idk, kinda hope jack also takes a chance to read?
im completely fine with holding off of anti for a good amount of time/whenever jack feels right/comfortable to bring him back again. and if a long wait means new ideas/possibilities where the glitchās character grows more in-depth/complex, even more so 150% :).
i think the main thing that really bums me out/kinda makes me sad though is the wholeĀ āanti being a meme/not taking seriouslyā thing. cos like, im v e r y much guilty of making a lot of anti memes. like, a loooooooot of memes. but ive always done them becauseĀ i was so so so afraid/anxious of what he would do next.
because like, sure anti hates circles, his first word wasĀ āknifeā, etc.
but like, he legit made jack cut his own throat against his own will. like he legitĀ made jack turn over in his chair and renderedĀ him unconscious in part 4 of sister location in order for him to take over. the very reason i started properly theorizing in the first place, was because of those detention glitches, the ones where we couldnāt even tell the difference between jack, someone we cared so much about, and anti, a murderer, a torturer, in them.Ā
the thought of jack being trapped against his will as anti took over his life for months, and him desperately trying to reach out to us to help him. but all we did those months wasĀ āwatch, as this happenedā. the thought that we not only abandoned jack, but literally assisted/enabledĀ in his abandonment/demise because we fueled Anti so so much, was so haunting, so terrifying to me that i hadĀ to figure out what else anti was planning. i HAD to figure out a way that we could stop him and i h a dĀ to save jack.
but then it was too late as anti appeared again at Pax, with two fresh stab wounds in Jackās throat, and an even more desperate cry for help.
and then much later, kinda ironically, anti somewhat took advantage of this need to save jack with the antipocalypse. because i whole-heartedly thought schneeplestein was evil/cahooting with him. but in the sad reality iĀ ābelieved his liesā, and it was revealed that schneep actually saved jack on halloween, and was good all along.Ā
even more blood on my hands. two more victims now, as again, we just sat and watched helplessly. thanks antiā¦..
but also, in the midst of the whole antipocalypse thing, the wholeĀ āprotecting chase brodyā meme thing popped up. and i think that was when a lot of the memes came about (at least for me anyway) cos 1) dudeās naturally a memey guy, and 2) a guy whoās already got a sad backstory/technically shoots himself in the head because of it, didnāt deserve to also have to deal with a murderous demon. and then things got even WORSE/SADDER when people were proposing that maybe chase was secretly anti/turns into anti after killing himself. (Hence, why i got soo emotionally impacted when i saw jack like aĀ āChase=Antiā theory post.)
so like, after everything, weāre dealing with A) jack being trapped for over a year by anti, always a l w a y s asking us to help him, B) schneep being betrayed by us becuase we thought that he was evil, and now we honestly dont know the repercussions for what anti did to him/our actions (we dont even know if heās a l i v e, let alone okay) and C) Chase Brody, an ego whoās already got a tough life/is well-liked, possibly either dying by the demonās hands, having said demon go after his wife/kids, or betraying us and BEING said demon at a n y given moment.Ā
And the harsh, terrifying reality of it all is that itāll all continue without change, without challenge.Ā and thereās nothing you can do for any of them. NONE OF THEM. FOR OVER A YEAR, l i t e r a l l y nothing but sit and watch as Anti becomes stronger by YOUR HANDS. no matter what you do, what you choose, you still feed antiās power and give him attention more and more and more and more and more and more and MORE AND M O R E AND MOREā¦.
so all we can do is joke about it.
joke about anti, making fun of his knife collection, give him nicknames. joke about us fighting to keep chase alive. joke about jack and anti actually just getting along together like a cheesy old sitcom. thatās all we can do.Ā
thatās the only thing, the only power we can use in retaliation to an unstoppable, invincible, murderous, time-traveling, corrupting demon with no reasoning for his actions other than a simple want to watch the world b u r n.Ā
like a childās umbrella to a category 5 hurricane.
and thatās what terrifies me about anti.Ā
that no matter all the theories, all the shitposts, all the times we call him āglitch b*tchā, all we can do is helplessly, e n d l e s s l y, scream and pound and mock, mock, mock through a crystal-clear, but soundproof window.
all while theĀ āglitch b*tchā eventually moves on to the next phase, his next victim, seamlessly and without a single obstacle in his wayā¦
and weāre just watching, powerless. same as always.
