Hey chikadees! Happy Wednesday! I'm working on a lil fic I'm VERY excited about, so I'm gonna kick off the WIP Wednesday train early. This is going to be a fantasy au with Shane as a Light wielder and Ilya as a Prince. It's still in the very early stages (I haven't even named the country yet oops) but I'm excited about it!! As the creatureâs fingers latch into Haydenâs shoulder, he screams out in pain. Haydenâs head flings back, exposing his throat, and the creatureâs teeth bare down, yearning for flesh, longing to dig into the exposed skin. Two of the monsters are looming over Shane now, their flingers outstretched, reaching for him, beckoning to him. Itâs almost like they hum a melody, a song of oceans, a rip of tides that draws Shane in.
Then Hayden screams again, a piercing, pungent thing, and Shane flings his hands wide. Shane feels his fear acutely â fear that Hayden is dying, fear that this is their imminent end, fear of the shadows, which are finally catching up with him.
Immediately, light pours from his palms â broad, golden daylight, bright as the noontime sun. It rips through shadow-flesh and splits the crowd of Tenevoy like a knife sliding through butter, and the creatures chitter and scream as they are torn into shreds. Shane broadens the light, then flings a ray specifically out to arch through the creature gripping Hayden. As it disappears, Hayden collapses forward. Where his shoulder had been grasped, his shirt is stained crimson.
Shaneâs head spins from the effort, and he slumps to his knees. He tries to sustain the light, because even though the creatures are gone, he doesnât trust the darkness.
