Nature always reminds of me what is truly important. It humbles me in its beauty, strength, resilience 🌲 When I'm in the forest, it feels like home. I see the magic, the miracle of life, I feel it deep in my core. I remember I'm part of it and this is very comforting and brings me so much joy. But, when I am in the city, it can be easy for me to forget those things and be drained by the chaos of it all. All the noise, the speed, the crowd, the distraction...It can be draining, and making me feel stressed and anxious. Those feelings of discomfort are a signal from the body telling us that something is wrong. We should ALWAYS listen to our bodies, to how we feel. Oftentimes, my body is telling me that I need to drastically slow down to stay grounded. So I stop everything and take a moment to remind myself:"I do not have to give into the distraction, the speed, the stress. I am going to take my time. I am going to breath, I am going to be slow and mindful. I am going to remain calm. It's okay if I take a few more seconds to pay for my groceries. It doesn't matter that people look at me weird, it doesn't matter that they are being impatient (most of the time they are not, it's only the thought of it causing stress). I do not have to make myself small, I do not have to apologize for living life. I have just as much right to be here as they do. So I take the time I need, without panicking. I can stay calm and relaxed, because everything is going to be okay". Remaining calm in chaos does take practice because it requires being able to: 1) be aware of how you're feeling, 2) recognize that you're off track, 3) step back into your power: ground yourself back in the moment and 4) It takes reprogramming yourself to act mindfully and intentionally, instead doing things on autopilot or being too much in your head/thoughts. I still struggle a lot myself with those things but it's like everything: To be good at something, it takes practice!
