Happy 8th Anniversary to the release of It (2017)!! I can't believe this silly project has been going on for so long-- Or that we got to the end! Thank you all so much for sticking with me throughout all these years.

This project was originally intended to be a cute one-off hypothetical of what would happen if the story went in a slightly different direction and played with slightly different themes than the movie/book, and then got extremely out of hand. What would it be like if the embodiment of Destruction, eternally opposed to its sibling Creation, was challenged to rethink what the function of destruction could be? What if the theme of cycles addressed how we can get mindlessly caught in our own cycles, be they abuse we're perpetuating, or waking up every 27 years to eat a bunch of kids because that's what you've always done?

What if Beverly's dad got EATEN ON SCREEN BY A BIG OCEAN OF ELDRITCH LIGHT THAT LOOKS LIKE A GIANT CLOWN DOLL SOMETIMES??

Anyway, this comic has come along with me through five apartments, three years of graduate school, a global pandemic, and my first Real Grownup Job. I can remember curling up at my desk in my since-sold childhood home when I made the first comic, and now as I'm typing this I'm at my desk in the studio room of my own apartment across the country finishing this send-off. What a ride!! Thank you again so much for coming along for it :)

If you missed some quality medicine vendor content in Shu, Oni's got your back, for real, very happy to see how much more like Ri Kusu throughout the show reads here (though Oni has me rethinking why he was Like That in Shu, but I'll save that musing for after getting through the rest of these stories)

We're getting close to the end folks!!

Handbuilt earthenware, sprayed with terra sigilata and saggar fired with various minerals, chemicals, paints, foods, black glaze, and glass beads. Touch-ups/accents added post-fire with alcohol inks.

This mask is a part of a (loosely connected) mask series, all hand-built and fired using a range of different temperatures and techniques.

Yes this mask is very DCA inspired, though the sketch it's based off of isn't meant to be an AU or anything, believe it or not.

This mask was from my first saggar firing! I kind of went ham decorating the saggar as well which is below.

The colours weren't as intense as I wanted fresh out of the kiln, so I went over the whole thing with some alcohol inks I mixed up. Overall I love the result! I also hadn't used terra sig before this, so I applied it after bisque (you aren't supposed to, according to my professor), but it still worked out!!
