Sucks how many people were taught that "horses put their ears back when they're mad" but then never taught the difference between "angry backwards ears," "mildly annoyed backwards ears," "pain backwards ears," "concentrated backwards ears," "sleepy backwards ears" and "just happens to be listening to something behind it."

These are all completely different expressions in completely different scenarios, and only two of them are decidedly negative.
Actually, I wanna talk about the third horse, the one putting its ears back in pain. Over the last 15 years veterinarians and animal scientists have worked out pain scales for most domestic animals by taking photos of the during routine procedures.
We know vaccines painful, and by comparing horses at rest with horses getting vaccinated, we've been able to determine how they express pain visually. By looking at horses with disorders like colic, broken bones, wounds, and so on, we can determine their facial expressions during more severe pain.
At zookeeper school we were drilled through the pain faces of the most common lab animals and livestock. Nowadays I believe this has become a routine lesson in all animal related fields, but the general public still doesn't know that this is a thing that exists.
Here are all the pain face/grimace scales I've been able to find. Please study them if you interact with any of these animals on a regular basis:

I loooooove getting rejected. People should reject more. It's the "maybes" and ghosting that's just like too much. A firm but polite "no" is infinitely more respectful of everyone's time and feelings. Can we just do that?
You guys know this is a pretty normal human want and not a special accomdation to be saved for people with autism right?
a lot of people assume psychosis hallucinations are super intense all-consuming horror movie shit like the memes about the hat man or always horrible debilitating things that make you dangerous to be around
but in my experience 95% of my hallucinations are getting spooked by very clearly hearing someone knocking on my door or calling my name from another room or hearing footsteps walking behind me which are "just" my brain recreating the horror of an abusive childhood
i *have* gotten the "bugs crawling all over me" hallucination once or twice though and yeah that one is exactly as terrible horrible as it sounds AUGH
(not trying to put you on blast specifically, you're just a good example to jump off of)
media and pop culture hypes up psychosis a lot as The Worst That Can Happen out of sanism, so even when you try and filter that cultural bias out you still assume it's based on something
when, no, psychosis is actually very simple: it's just hyperactive pattern matching. it's your brain's signal-to-noise ratio being off balance, it's seeing images in random static. it's not always this special uniquely big thing, it's in fact quite mundane a lot of the time.
no one is immune to psychosis, it's not purely the realm of the insane. anyone is one bad night of sleep or one bad case of food poisoning or one bad fever away from being just like me on my worst days.
and this, indeed, is why solidarity with the insane is so important: you, yes you too, are just one bad day from joining us, and no perceptions of being a "temporarily embarrassed sane person" will save you from the oppression of the psychiatric institution.
A 'fun' (not) impact of being aware of how innocuous many psychosis hallucinations can be was fully beginning to question whether I was finally Experiencing The Family Symptoms because I was seeing little flickers of motion and hearing scratching.
(It turned out that we just had a mouse problem).
Because yeah, more likely than not one day it's gonna settle on me too.
I can already tell whether devices are plugged in or not by the noise they make (inaudible to most people) and can tell the next light at work to blow by the difference in the noise it makes compared to a healthy light panel, so at least I have had some practice navigating the world when there are things I can perceive that most people don't (mostly by being very careful who I tell things to so I don't get seen as making things up).
But in terms of the things I am most worried about? It's lower on my list than several other things I am likely to experience as I age and my body becomes further disabled. Every time I catch pneumonia I roll the dice on survival, and it takes me longer to recover. So I'm a lot more concerned about that.
