Mobei Jun is often spoken about as this near moronic individual and is just constantly headcanoned as "stupid person who makes SQH do ALL his literary work " , a very "barabaric person" wherein in the novel they weren't even in that constant contact , SQH had to expend a lot of efforts into acquiring this level of trust . SQH canonical lly doesn't do official works of the Northern Desert, not untill he fked off from the Sect to the Palace !!
Mobei Jun was raised in an extremely distrustful environment, a very treacherous place despite that being his only home . He's also the sole heir of his lineage , most likely extremely skilled , was the most powerful untill Luo Binghe emerged and is also someone who's probably one of the most if not more skilled than all of the other characters considering his position , his background and his upbringing, not to mention his education that was doubtlessly excellent considering he's the sole heir . He's shown to be clever , cunning and very efficient in running his kingdom , not just by brute force but by how well his forces are managed , the Immortal Alliance Confrence and the Maigu Ridge . He's resourcefull and not as emotionally turbulent as often thought of.
The instance involving the digestion of his predecessor's power and SQH was a time wherein his "most trusted" individual went back on his word , as a person who was raised in a cesspit of trust issues , bringing your most trusted individual into the most vulnerable moments of his life only for this person to go back is doubtlessly something one would consider a significant blow ! He's disheartened ! Betrayed in a sense ! Reducing his character as a moron or an idiotic person simply because he was influenced by his negetive emotions in this instance and has issues with understanding romance , something he has zero comprehension of considering his past , is just a disservice to him .
He most likely thwarted several schemes by his uncle as a young prince and came out with the support of allies and court even without the expected influence of the Heavenly Demon ruler as in PIDW , canonically ! I wonder if racial spectrum of "barbarism'' plays a role here considering Lan Wangj and Mobei Jun are extremely similar in temperament, even Lan Wangii was very quick to use violence despite being raised with a lot of restraint and Mobei Jun , who was raised with a normalisation of violence and is implied to have been targetted often by his uncle in his childhood and would very likely use violence often but is shown to be clever and cunning and a strategic person and vet Mobei Jun is saddled with the "unintelligent brute" , is stereotyped for displaying traits that would naturally occur in a person of his circumstances, simply for being a demon (which is also a metaphor of Northern Chinese Tribes or Mongolian descent , considering how the official art depicts the culture) and Lan Wanqii is a scholarly individual with a lot of wisdom ( Mainland Chinese) .
