a). I needed to watch that car and

b). That I needed to be careful, because the driver of the car was a massive bitch.

It kind of took me by surprise, because I really had no reason to be beefing with that car, and I also hadn't really had an impression like that since I was religious, which was in my teen years. Right? It'd been a decade since I had a little voice whisper in my ear, and I'd basically written it off as nonsense.

Anyway, I watched the car, because The Spirits or whatever were very insistent that I did. Car drove fine, went into the parking spot, inched forward, and right when it should've just stopped, the driver gunned it for some reason and it ran into the curb and cracked its bumper.

So, the driver got out, and she went to the front of the car to check that yes, she had cracked her bumper, and then she turned to look at me. The parking lot wasn't empty, but we were the only two people standing in that row, and I'd probably been staring at her for tenish seconds now.

She demanded very angrily to know why I hadn't warned her of the curb. And I could have said I didn't know you were about to gun it or is it my job to help every stranger park, or even could you have even heard me, inside your car?

And all of those would have been fine, but I was really, really busy digesting that I had somehow communed with Mormon Jesus again for the first time in fifteen years, and that the communion had mostly been there to let me watch someone park badly (?), so what I responded with was:

"Because it was foretold."

And I can't tell which would be funnier, if she went silent because there's not much to be said to that, or if she went silent because in Utah, she might actually believe me, but we parted ways without more words.

No one is. That's not how this shit works. Depending on your culture you might have a few generations back but that's not your blood that's you choosing to participate in a family tradition. It doesn't make you more powerful or more knowledgeable. Most of this has been cobbled together from other religions, especially if you practice Wicca.

I feel like a lot of North American pagans don't see Hellenic polytheism or Norse paganism as ethnic religions the same way they perceive Shinto, Judaism or Hinduism. I feel like this has to do with current American race politics that makes it seem like Europeans (or white people) are a monolith. And even though some people may see this as “woke”, this Paneuropean idea has been pushed by so many times by white supremacists. Just observe how they include Renaissance depictions of Greek gods in their “EVROPA”/“RETVRN” but they rarely include Southern European humans in them.

I've been casually curious, because at least on witchblr, I don't often see posts about tracework and magical headspace and so on, or ASC in general. SO.

Trancework: Moving into an altered state of consciousness (ASC) through any number of methods, which can be done to access 'magical headspace,' and which can be a platform for spirit communication and other activities.

Magical headspace: Broadly, the experience that you are currently interacting with magical reality, as opposed to mundane reality; that your present actions and behaviors carry special magical weight and significance.

I expect that everyone's definitions will vary, vote with your heart

I mean the weeds growing through concrete, the fungus that grows on the rotten shed, the nettles that always seem to return and the scary, spindly cellar spider in the corner of the bathroom.

Nature is not always pretty or magical - the pigeons and seagulls you swat at are nature too, the wasps and flies that hover by your meals are animals too, store-bought strawberries and the leaves that fall from your neighbour's tree are not all that different from the Giant Sequoias and it's seeds.

Notes aren't a definition of success here. We don't have an algorithm that bumps things to the top of the dash based on popularity. And yes, it's ALWAYS the memes and shitposts and fandom stuff that gets the attention, compared to that long post about the current moon phase you spent an hour writing. (Trust me, I know.)

You're curating your own experience here. Liking posts is fine, but it's commenting and reblogging that kickstart meaningful interactions and help the posts you enjoy reach other users. Tagging posts is fine, but it's not a guarantee that your post will do numbers and tagspamming will get you blocked.

Yes, tumblr is by and large a fandom space, but that doesn't mean that's all there is. And unfortunately, expecting it to work like other social media platforms is only going to lead to disappointment.

If you want to interact with the community and start discussions, REACH OUT TO OTHER WITCHES. You can post in the tags all day and night, but if you don't make a direct effort to engage with other users by commenting, reblogging with commentary, or asking/answering questions, it's not likely to get you anywhere meaningful.

Being afraid of ghosts means you wouldn't want to be in an allegedly haunted place, or you watch a horror movie/game where there's ghosts and you're afraid.
